  • who are we raging at?

  • @eternity899 If people hadn't focused on, and made graphics better, we'd still be playing eight-bit games like Mario and Megaman. And one more thing. If you want people to view your comments as credible, you should maybe learn to spell. Seeing the word "secundary" took me back to the second grade.

  • HIS NAME IS JESUS!!!?

    cool effects btw

  • 0:59 Minecraft map generation :D

  • @XRIVAL360 YOU SOUND LIKE RETARDED PRICK-TARD

WHAT MAKE YOU TALK LIKE THIS?

    a) because your step dad is beating you ?

    b) because your step mum is beating you ?

    c) because your 10 years old sis is prgnant with your step dad ?

    d) because youre like me from Engayland ?

  • @XRIVAL360 what kind of moron does not get that that name is like john in spanish culture

  • @GreenlandCat

Somone that isn't Spanish you fucking retard. Just because christianity might not be there religion, doesn't mean their not aware of it. Would be like me calling my kid Alah you fuck-tard.

  • Some good ideas there thanks!

  • here's the proof... jesus created objects! take that evolutionists

  • @DeanMalenko ....im not even gonna justify that with a witty comment

  • @eternity899 Haha. I'm serious, I acually laughed as I read your cute comments. Get off the internet moron.

  • which is better for particles: maya or 3dmax?¿?

  • @dariodborbon

it depents on the user but for 3ds max are more particle plugins on the market.

  • MAYA FTW!

  • and again... what is is this?

  • oh kool bonne année 2010 bisous

  • Great!! a really direct and serious reel just to show the hability, in 3D and maths

  • ha i really like the random songs that people find for videos like these

  • Wow orgullosamente latino.

  • not true

many companys searchin for people who are developing good particle stuff

  • hehe, it REALLY show on this chat who has touched particles and who has´nt.... awesome work bro, i salute ya :D

  • These particles were made by Jesus.

  • That was pretty sweet.

  • It's the end of the world i tell you. We are one computer program away from calamity.

  • kool, i dint know how that worked!

  • Okay and now u have to think about ths questin:

Who create things like this for your ps3 or 360?

The clip is the answer ;)

    Greetz from Germany

    btw nice vid

  • okay :) but in if you want to create a particle system without help (plugins) its very hard to get a good result.

But ur right, it looks not very special.

  • incorrect

  • thats not the point. you create this from scratch then tell me there is nothing amazing here.

  • um, I think you're missing the point of the video. It's to show the work of students who are actually CREATING these effects that your 'Xbox 360 and PS3' can do. Movie and video game effects don't just grow out of the ground, someone has to create them...

  • @Insaneagram yes ur rite!!

  • @Insaneagram - damn straight, well put.

  • @Insaneagram yeah that being the purpose of the computer

dont speak like its a big deal

when most of the work is done by the machine

  • @eternity899 Well it certainly has been a long time since I left my comment... Look if you don't appreciate this don't watch the video.

If it's no big deal why do they employ people in films and games to do this work? If it's no big deal please go right ahead and make a good quality video immediatly. Send me a link when you've finished :)

  • @Insaneagram you're on.

no i dont appreciate it, its the third millennium

is this the best we can offer?

yes they do hire people to do this work

but they also hire programmers, artists and all sorts of people

as you put it, game mechanics "dont just grow out of the ground"

also dont give me that"immediately" stuff nobody can do that.

    but ill take your challenge

i will only use a c++ compiler and a library which does not support 3D

when im done one of us will be face down in the mud

  • @eternity899 I know no one can do this work immediatly. That's what I was saying - you belittle them by saying 'it's not a big deal' and then claim that it's not something you can do quickly? That doesn't make much sense at all. I've seen far worse animation effects and you have to understand that computers as they are today haven't been around for three melenia. So it's not like people have been working on this technology for that length of time.

  • @eternity899 Also it's worth noting that my comment was in response to someone elses, who said 'Xbox and ps3 can do what they've done here. It's no big deal.' Which is clearly a naive and incorrect comment. I was simply pointing out that people have to do the work behind this, not games consoles. So no, I won't be 'face down in the mud.'

  • @Insaneagram pft i have to agree with the other guy

the hardest part of effect making is the design itself

most of the work is done by the machine and the support programs

whats more a game can be enjoyed without flashy special effects

so yeah graphic effects is not on the top of my list "hardest tasks in game making"

this alone is enough for me to belittle

whats more its people who think that graphics and effects are a big deal

are responsible for games becoming so boring

    effects are secundary

  • @eternity899 Don't get me wrong, I agree that the visual effects are far from the most important aspect of a game. For me the story, design and gameplay all come first and I know it's the same for many people (though some inividuals do prefer good visuals) and I don't think other aspects of game design should be sacrificed for good animation. It's like having a movie with no story and just flashy action scenes, it works for some people but not me. However I still think that credit should be

  • @eternity899 given where it's due. The xbox and ps3 didn't make this, a human using a computer did, and even if it isn't the hardest part of making games it still plays a role. And what about movies? They also depend on someone to work on animation. To say it was all down to the computer is a lie.

  • @Insaneagram credit is given where its due

but you cant expect everyone to understand

if they did the world would be too nice of a place

  • @eternity899 I love reading comments like this, the arrogance gets me all horny

  • @MeatyMushroom yeah and i just love people who cant accept the harsh truth

and flame those that tell it to them

do you really wana pick a fight just because you dont agree with me?

  • the particle hits geometry then extrudes thing is pure genius in my idea

  • i saw someone ask what software, ... its maya.

    Nice video

  • love it

  • awesome, what software did you use? blender?,

did you use some plugin like yarfray to get better illumination?,

Your video is great, I started to work with 3D thing few weeks ago, maybe you can advice me, I'm working with blender, I have only one video, on my channel, to visit is allowed :p.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • Wow I never knew 3D animations involved scripting! And here I am complaining about Actionscripts in Flash!

  • nice video great stuff

    btw cool name jesus :D

  • neat stuff, boring video.

  • I see you as a unintelligent persion from now on, its not boring at all...

  • I guess you're easily amused.

  • if i had a quarter for every person as stupid as u id be a millionare in less then a microsecond...this comment says somthing about people in general... and it says..."im a damn retard sterilize me!"...

  • Damn liberal pussies can't handle people with opinions different than their own. talk about narrow minded over-reactors...

  • hmm the fact that im conservative really makes your point irrelevant... talking about narrow minds isnt your thing really, or maybe it is, but it doesnt matter when ur completely wrong.. ur just a prick who needs to go fuck himself

  • i wish i could go to that school

  • Ommgg me toooo

  • I wish my name was Jesus

  • lol

  • Dumbass.

  • wow

  • People here don't understand why this reel is interesting because they're not creative enough to understand the potential in this guys work.

  • Has nothing to do with other peoples creative ability more than it has to do with education as to why this reel is incredibly interesting in his approach. It's a very lateral mind.

Much the same as why most people don't understand the intricate details of medicine like doctors do.

It is not hard to understand this when you understand principles of design; because then you would appreciate this persons alternative approach to general methods.

    Don't generalise.

  • i am an expert in mathematics and LUA.. and im only 14 :3

i can do stuff kinda like this!

  • Yes, its a little easy for someone who study this... But anyway They done this in VFS o_0, That mean that they learned something that we don't know. Its VFS man ;), I don't think they teach something that anybody can learn at home... :P

  • Spot on!

It's a really intresting way to design things, have not seen many reel's that use this type of modeling however (maybe because it requires some serious programming skills, maybe because it's an unusual way to model).

  • Its also freaking stupid.

  • Non ... Gostei!!!! Fuck!!!

  • Compared to the other VFS films, this was pretty lame, sorry.

  • wtf

  • ouch, his first name is Jesus, would suck if you're Athiest x)

I like the film, it's kinda weird, but I like it.

  • "Created by Vancouver Film School student Jesus"

    lolwut

  • what the heck is was that

  • my thought exactly ...wtf ?

  • they are called Particles, they are essentially tiny points created by a 3D graphics program to simulate such things like fire, smoke, and liquids, unlike traditional animation where everything is keyframe, particles are governed by mathematical algorithms called Solvers, which act as real world forces such Solvers include gravity, air flow, and turbulence.

Don't understand what I just said? well in short, all those fancy visual effects you see are done by particles.

  • if i had half the talent this guy has,i would produce animations based on horror films and games....i'm just a horror junkie!!

  • Nice study. Even though it's just testing, you've got the basis of some really good abstract motion graphics there.

  • the last one reminds me of that old "pipes" screen saver on windows. It looks much cooler though.

  • WARNING: this is only a test ... (good work by the way...music was kind of creepy though ;)

  • what is this vid. evan about?

  • i think its just a test they did.

  • Nice Scripting

  • THIS SCARES ME TO DEATH

  • 0:51

    WOW really nice :D

    Congrats!

  • Very good, not nearly as good as the other Vancouver films I've seen on youtube;S

  • Fantastic work! Thanks for posting!

  • I don't think you get it. It's not the effects that's interesting.. It's the scripts used to create them. If you stop and think a little you could find many uses for them that would look awesome.

  • Why would anything up to 40 seconds need a script? Assuming this is maya, it's wierd that first shot would need a script. Other software can do it at the click of a button.. ANYWAY, after 40 seconds, the effects are pretty neat. Should put those first, instead of last.

  • whe you are eable to create those effects

from scratch means that you can make alot

of things that would be normaly impossible

to model render or animate or at least very

hard to it's about showing scripting skills.

so this guy have no software limitations all his limit is his creation and script skill

  • this is a reply to "battlestarvfx"

  • that's really cool

  • neat o bubbles.
