It would be idiocy to allow and condone such aggression, without retaliation or protection for citizens. Appeasement or ignoring attacks from other countries allows future attacks and poses further threats, especially if the opposing force (Japan) has declared war. It is stupid to initiate a war, unprovoked, if the reason is for anything other than public safety and protection against aggression.

I don't think people really understand the concept of war. Imagine your country, the people around you, the land you live in, as a body. Whether or not you choose to be a part of this body or not is not entirely your choice; where your citizenry belongs is where you are born or where you live. If you happen to share this soil, then you must consider your safety. Now, say that the body is attacked by a disease, an unwarranted attack, much like Pearl Harbor.

War is stupid. every bit of it. Their just like a bunch of kids on a playground fighting over a swing. except the swing is a country. Still stupid. Peace through peace. Not through war.

Try negotiating with Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, Stalin, North Korean Dictators, Gadhafi (who resorted to killing civilians). It doesn't always work.
