@SuperDarthVader1 It wouldn't have made a difference if they did. The only things left of Murphy are his brain and his face. The skull underneath his face is titanium, just as thick as his armour. Having the bad guys shoot his face would have been:

1) Unnecessary

2) Disturbing for the audience

3) Been a difficult special effect

4) Shown vulnerability of the character, which we aren't supposed to see until the "Directive 4 scene"

5) Would have to have a scene later where face was repaired.

Yeah like the audience hasn't seen Boddicker and his gang shoot Murphy to a bloody pulp and then a headshot which wiped out most of his brain, also ED-209 almost shot a guy into pieces with his armour piercing rounds.

@SuperDarthVader1 Yeah, but the first scene was disturbing to show how much of a fuck up ED-209, was, and the Murphy murder scene was to show how merciless and sadistic Boddicker and his gang was. Showing his mouth being shot after his transformation in any later scene would have been unecessary, not to mention the fact that until the "Directive 4" scene, the audience is supposed to be given the impression he is indestructible and has no vulnerabilities.

When this movie on commercial television, it's hilarious to hear all the profanity dubbed over, with all the limited variations of Fudge! or Forget You! The guy who posted this scene did such a great job. It's astonishing how the movie makes such a one-sided battle so epic. Kurtwood Smith makes one of the best villains of all time.
