Is this truly modern music, composed in the 1980's? If so, I am truly happy and it is a glorious day for me to hear this. Tonal music is sorely lacking in appreciation from the entrenched musical academic class. We must break free of modernist atonality and play more breathtakingly soaring music like this!
This is the light of the Earth; a luminous radiance shines across our world. Nothing is more perfect than the divinity of music, for it is the Voice itself. Religious or not, clouds part and the sun opens itself to the world, bathing your whole sense of life in that light.
It is a singular thing, and I am glad of this beauty.
Yes, The great organist Xaver Varnus usually has an orchestra or bass band accompanying him in his biggest concerts. If you look on my page I have a playlist full of his videos. I also recommend searching up Karl Richter performing G.F Handel's organ concerto, he plays with an orchestra as well.
Correct - you don't have to follow "those" laws if you wish to be arrested and/or fined for illegal copyright infringement. I choose to not break the law.
Nothings more beautiful this side of Heaven, than sounds coming from a majestic pipe organ.
God Himself lead man to create this insturment used as tool to tune ones heart closer to His!
No sound on earth can humble ones heart into submisive prayerful worship than soft dampered flutes on top deep dark gutteral penetrating tone of the tall Bourdonsa.
Spirits can be lifted straight up into Heaven when all stops are pulled as master organist dances on pedals!
i find it hard to understand where church music is trying to go musically (apart from heaven!!) but i love the pipe organ.. that has some beautiful moments.
Hi Joe - I had a word with Andrew Fletcher in the UK. He's a tip top organist and prize-winning fellow of the Royal College of Organists. I just bought his "Five Miniatures for Organ" recently republished by Peters. They include Integritas and Chorale Prelude on St. James. Do have a look at his miniatures.
Oh my lord...You've opened my eyes to music, allover again. This is where I started. My first love was the organ.Haha.Ever since that first day at church.
Wow, that is absolutely beautiful. Your playing, coupled with this gorgeous piece, really touches the soul. Joe, have you played William Boyce's "Ye Sweet Retreat"? If I had the equipment, I might post it sometime, but I'd love to hear you play it sometime. Virgil really did that piece well, but I have not seen it on YouTube. I'd like to see how one of your talent fingers some of those finger stretches.
you play very well for this prelude, by the way do you have the video of you playing come thou font of every blessing during mass on the church organ.
This is a fabulous piece of organ music and played really well too for such an introspective piece. J.S. Bach would have loved this one - that's for sure ! I wonder what Fletcher's "Chorale Prelude on St. James" is like - perhaps you could put that one up on Youtube too! Many thanks for a great moment of listening (even with a wonky mike !)
I so agree that the Integritas is a great work for the organ. I don't know Fletcher's "St. James" but I'll see if I can find the music. Thank you for viewing and your comments.
At about 1:58 you have a sort of horn sound on the Great yet the sound, like a Fr. Horn, does not exist. Looks like the Ch Or, Co, wiped out the original Great and made it into a New Baroque style - The 2-2/3 is missing. Nice sound though. All Swell & Cres. shoes are balanced today.
The "horn" sound to which you refer at about 1:58 when the left hand moves to the Great is the Great II 8' Gross Flute.
In 1979 the Church Organ Co. did indeed add a somewhat-baroque-style Great (Great Organ I). We still have the original Steere Great (Great Organ II). Thanks for your observations and comments.
I do thank you for reply. Fooled me for sure. Too bad the baroque fad ruined to many good organs, fortunate the original Steere pipes were saved. I'll Bet the original pipes are magnificent. Nice sound. Look for more posts please.
Great stuff man.. I am currently begining training myself on the organ. only sad thing is that we dont have sutch grande organs in my territorry over here in norway! Wonderfull music!
You're welcome. The complete specification is posted to the right of the video. If you want to see/hear more of the organ, click on "joenwayne" to the right of the video to see what's currently uploaded.

Sounds like it was inspired by Flor Peeters' Largo.
Are you using a tremulant or are the 8' stops out of tune?
1401JSC 2 years ago
No tremulant. I am using Celeste stops which are of course tuned slightly "out of tune" with each other in order to produce the undulating effect.
