Actually I just read an earlier comment, and it seems I got the second and third words wrong. Or maybe nicht would work too. In any case, I was pretty close.
Nein, sprechen Sie deutsch? Is something many english speakers know how to say. That may be confusing because it means'No, do you speak german?' Which may sound like a request to talk to them in German.
@jedrinck The way English speaking people speak you would leave out the comma and it isn't a question. It would be "no speak German" in pidgin English... and kind of insulting to whomever you're saying it to! How many Germans know how to correctly say "I do not speak English"? Not being a dick, just curious. Also, what's the correct way to say "I do not speak German" IN German?
@obviousypc It can only be understood as a question but if you omit the "Sie", being a polite form of saying "you", it becomes indeed the pidgin german "no speak english". I wouldn't find that insulting. What I was getting at is that if you don't speak a language you might just say that in your own tongue which will get the message across just as well. I guess more than half of all germans speak at least some english. "Ich spreche kein Deutsch" means "I don't speak (any) German".
Although I'm a bit offended - a Canadian friend of mine linked this because I'm foreign, and, well, let us just say that I'm going to send HER a link to 'Canadian Idiot'. Serves her right.
@AntinuclearAntibody They did during the first run. Honestly, Family Guy should have never been renewed; it's like bringing any given dead rock star back to life only to find out that they were about to run out of ideas anyway.
It was Family Guy. The episode where Brian goes back to the puppy farm, a Mexican teaches Brian the proper way to introduce himself in Spanish (and is correct).

Did you know that in Canada, if you punch someone in the stomach and immediately say "DON'T DIE!" it is not considered assault and battery?
jrmarrero96 3 weeks ago
@jrmarrero96 It's actually considered a welcoming ritual in Toronto.

Saturday Night Live might've done this one in '95. But it would've been 6 minutes long.

@Shockwave474 You're right, nicht would also work. Nicht = not. Kein = no (as in 'not any').
finsternis1986 2 months ago
I think what he says at the end should be more like "Ich sprecke nicht Deutsch," but I probably got the second word wrong.

Can anyone tell me in what episode did Family Guy did something similar to this? I haven't seen it...
