Not to mention extra weight and cost, soft tails absorbe pedal energy on climbs and aggressive riding. Front shocks & a well fitted aluminum mtb are more than enough for me.

@mtobiassen Help me out, mate. I'm deciding between a M and L Ibis Mojo SL. I'm 5'10 1/2", with a 33" inseam, 51 years old, and weigh about 98 kg (yeah, a few extra pounds in the middle). I tend to ride a bit upright as a result, but don't feel that's ideal. Most everybody on mtbr forum (including Hans from Ibis) suggest a large. I ride about 50% road, 30% single track, and 20% mountain (not serious drops, though). Which one would you choose? My Scott Genius is an 18" I think. Feels about right.
