Welllllllll if you're looking for trippy and mind fucking books i'd recommend and leaving loathing las vegas or anything by lewis caroll (ie through the looking glass). Erm good books good books, I liked interview with a vampire (haven't read the rest but liked this one). OH NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS = read books again and watch at least one good film per week (at least one foreign film per month but usually more)

The Stranger or The Plague by Albert Camus. The theme of these is a philosophy called existentialism-if you're interested in that you can read many things. Some existentialist philosophers are Jean Paul Sartre and Frederich Neitzsche, to name a few.

I would also recommend Joseph Heller, Hemingway, and Steinbeck as far as American authors go(although there are many, many others).

Flanery O'Connor may interest you as well, or perhaps the irregular prose of James Joyce.

BOOK RECOMMENDATION: Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot (I think there's 10 or 12 books in the series. Don't read them out of order because then you'll be really confused.) And the books are waaay different from the movies.
