  • Man that looks great. Hey man could ya do a How to video of this, cuase id like to try this.

  • No boards?

  • @ringuettegurl It's too small to put up boards. This year I added a net behind the goal because we were shooting pucks way into the backyard and even a couple into the neighbor's yard. I know there are rinks that are much bigger with boards and everything, but we don't have a set up like that.

  • Did you find that using a blue tarp as opposed to a white or silver tarp made the ice melt faster? I used a silver tarp a couple years ago and was considering purchasing a blue tarp to reduce cost, but I've heard that it's better if the tarp is a light color. What is your experience with that?

  • @Avino3...Unless you are somewhere REALLY cold, you definitely need to use a white tarp. A blue tarp will take forever to freeze and it will melt much faster. Even with a white tarp....if something as small as a leaf gets caught on the ice or in the water before it freezes....the sunlight catches reflects off of it and will melt a small hole in the ice. For a dark tarp to work, my guess is you'd have to be somewhere where it's below 0 degrees constantly.

  • @ProudConservativecom ok thanks, it just looked like you were using a blue tarp in this video, thats why I asked

  • good player, horrible song

  • what the steps of making the ice

  • do yo think one of those would work in viginia beach, virginia

  • @kayakfish6...Probably not. I am in CT and it just about gets cold enough here. It has to be below freezing for at least 5 - 7 days straight before it's frozen enough to skate on. I don't think the weather is cold enough there.

  • Thats a nice home made rink.

  • great skater, terrible music.

  • dude thats a perfect yard. why didnt you use the whole yard?

  • Actually...it may be a little hard to tell from the video...but I had to build up a wall and bring in 50 yards of dirt just to make that area level. That cost waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy more then I spent on the rink. To do a bigger one would have cost a lot more money.

  • @ProudConservativecom I agree... My yard was NOT level this year and the rink was really difficult to maintain!

  • Sick of it All, nice.

  • how big in feet is this rink?

  • 19 X 33

  • Sweet rink! Check mine out too.

  • nice rink but where r the boards????? ur gonna friken fall off the rink dude!!!!

  • Awesome, that was my boyhood dream....PA winters just a little to fussy for it...... Go Youngblood !

  • my rink is 17 by 27

  • How big is that rink. I'm thinking of making one, and was wondering for reference.

  • 19 X 33

  • u could make that rink bigger

  • what does that have to do with this vid?

  • hey man i love all of your videos i voted for mcain and its too bad obamas in but im still staying republican!

  • can someone giv me a link online to were i can a get a rink for under 200 bucks??????

  • Its too late to look for a skating rink, spring is near

  • what im doing is getting sheeting over the grass, pouring water on it. and it freezes by morning and u build it up layer by layer. Its uneven so i use it to slide on it :D

  • Well I was told I would skate on an Ice Cube so it looks like that will do just fine lol. Ice is Ice

  • How many inches of water did you put on it ?

  • omg thats small

    mine is better

  • Well aren't you special

  • invisable puck:)

  • Nope....look again. The puck is there.

  • how big is 10x20 please reply

  • 10x20 is pretty small. As for how i made it....go back and read the comments....I've explained it a couple times already. : )

  • dude how do you make it

  • no way thats 19x33

  • It's exactly 19 x 33

  • what size is that?

  • is that 10x 20?

  • 19 X 33

  • how do u make the rink?please tell me..

  • How would you keep the ice from bumping up without a zam or something? Besides a ice pick. Also dosent the ice bump up when you 1st lay water on it?

  • That only happened once and it wasn't too bad. I did a lot of hockey stops in that area to trim it down and then added a layer of water. Also, it warmed a little after a few days and part of it melted and when it refroze it was smooth again.

  • This is so cool, I have been wanting to build one in my back yard. Thanks for putting this on. And thanks for being a Conservative that showes your smart too. I like people like you.

  • hot water helps...

  • you can afford a backyard ice skating ring and your a conservative, thank you for being such a cliche.

  • It only cost $250.00 so nice try.

  • wow i should get one, i still hate rich people though

  • Why? Rich people provide everyone else with jobs. I've never gotten a job from a poor person. Maybe you should do something so that you can become rich. If you don't enjoy money, you can give it all away to people who haven't earned it if it makes you feel better.

  • nice slap shot buddy.

  • I had a rink like that in my backyard when I was a kid, but then, that was back in the day when we were being told there was an ice age coming. Shame about how that global warming has ruined your, um, rink, er, well, like I was saying, nice rink. Hey, does Al Gore know about this? [And you said this wasn't a political video. Heh heh.]

  • WOW Cool!

  • Awesome. That kid can skate. I look like a fool on skates.

  • Sick of it All!! Right on!!

  • yo guys my town has and out door ice rink and the put up walls so te puck does not go over

  • how do you prevent wrinkles in the ice

  • What do you mean exactly?

  • nice rink

im thinking of doing that also

    how did u make it?

  • It's a kit. Read the comments below. : )

  • I have missons but there inline they were 200$ and nice you can hockeystop

  • Shelton

  • oh really

    cool

    i live in stamford

the wweather has def. been good enough for backyard ice rinks

  • i live in CT too =D what city and me and my friend were thinking of making one....what kinda maintenance does it need?

  • wat kind of sticks is that?

it looks like a bauer one50

  • It was actually just a Koho (Lemieux) wood stick. He's using an Easton Synergy 300 this year. And at home (street) he's using a Bauer Supreme 35.

  • your son is a real good skater. i live in england so we don't see much hockey over here but i play for a roller hockey team and i cant even slap shot like that! =D nice rink, i wish i had 1 in my back garden :)

  • what team do you play for? Have you heard of nemesis?

  • well, its that time of year again, hope you put up the rink again this year!! looks like he had a blast, good job Dad!~

  • i have 2 questions

    1. how much did it cost 4 the rink?

    2. how big is it in square feet?

  • 1. Around $250.00

    2. It's 19' X 33' so that's 627 sq. feet. You can buy them bigger and smaller though.

  • were did you get it ?

  • Online....I don't remember where. Just google backyard ice skating rinks and a bunch of sites will pop up.

  • thanks and relly nice rink by the way

  • for one thing your son is pretty damn good and also how much do these ice rinks run for?? could i just get it at the sporting goods store?

  • This one cost, if I remember correctly, about $250.00. I bought mine online. Just google backyard ice skating rink and a bunch of sites will come up.

  • if anyone knows plz respond do i just flood with hose water or spend mony on fake ice

  • I guess it depends on how much you want to spend. The rink on this video is just hose water. I think the fake ice stuff gets expensive....BUT you can use it year round.

  • Impressive setup. Just goes to show that good conservatives are good people that bring their kids up right! You are a good dad!

-Conservative Mom from Katy's Conservative Corner

  • Hey did u like lay a big BLUE tarp down, then fill it with water, with like the perimeter as wood?

  • It's actually a rink kit. But basically it is pvc pipes a WHITE tarp and plastic pieces that hold the tarp onto the pvc. I don't think a blue tarp would work unless where you lived was REALLY cold because the sun would heat the blue too much.

  • umm if i get like a 15 by like 22 would it be small

  • Well it would be about 4 feet narrower and 11 feet shorter than this one. Yeah that's a little small.

  • where do you live?

  • Connecticut

  • where in connecticut?

  • how old is that guy?

  • In this video...he just turned 11.

  • i wish u didnt have to hav a cold enviroment to hav 1 :(

  • that is soo Awesome

  • Ok, and one more thing. How much did this cost?

  • They have a whole bunch of different sizes. This one is 19' x 33' I think it was around $250.00.

  • Not bad. How do you maintain the smooth ice surface. Shovelling all the snow constantly? And Refilling with water when it's sunny?

  • As soon as we are done skating, I sweep the "snow" (ice shreds from stopping and turning) off and then spray the whole rink with a thin layer of hot water. Just like a zamboni would do. It freezes almost immediately. Once it freezes solid it actually lasts pretty good through the warmer spells as long as it isn't that long.

  • How long did it take to assemble?

  • 1/2 hour. Plus the time to fill it with water. Then waiting for it to be cold enough to freeze! LOL

  • Awesome! Is it one of those "build your own rink" kits?

  • Yes it is. Basically it's pvc piping, a white tarp and plastic that snaps the tarp to the pvc pipes.

  • cool!

  • Cool!!! i wish i had one to:D

  • Cool
