@awbhii Yes, but you'll have to build the intake yourself, and the carburetor will need mixture adjustment. The mixture will be far too lean if you don't adjust the carburetor.
@NissanN12Dude ahh.. i see.. do u have an idea of the range of the price of the kit??? and can it improve the fuel efficiency of my engine?? coz 1 of my clsm8s told me that installing short arm intake is like burning your money...^_^
@awbhii The stainless pipes cost me 70 euros, the conical air filter 30 (bought the filter from a friend). Grand total 100 euros.
Your class mate is partially right. It's expensive, and from a setup like this, you get little or no extra power. The low rpm torque can be slightly improved (a couple of Nm at most), the engine can rev higher, and the engine sound is a lot louder. The car will feel and sound quicker than it actually is.
But, the fuel economy did improve by almost 0.5l/100km. :)
@egn83b Finland. Yeah, it's very slow. 0-100 kph in 13 seconds. XD
I'm building myself a E15 Turbo engine. It's a low-budget project so progress is very slow, will take years. That engine will produce 115 hp with stock turbo engine parts... not very strong for a turbo engine but the car weighs around 900 kg so 0-100 kph will be around 9 seconds, according to factory. And it's easy to up the power from that, check forum . n12turbo . com if you want to know more about the Nissan E15 turbo engine.
@NissanN12Dude I think what you are saying is 0-60mph in 9 seconds is kinda fast for that old car. I think adding a turbo is kinda of worth it if what I have read about your government and it's taxation on it citizens with cars because it put you at higher emissions but who cares just do what makes you happy just buy your turbo here in the USA so you can save yourself some money.
@egn83b Yup, 9 seconds would be fast... at least compared to what it has been. But I think the structural integrity is strong enough to withstand a bit more power than that, I'm aiming for 130-140 horsepowers when I start modding the engine. But that's far into the future since I haven't even put the engine together yet.
Yes, our emissions-taxation sucks, but it doesn't apply to older cars... the total mass of the car defines the tax instead, so in my case the tax shouldn't change noticeably.
Nice i have the same engine but stock. Its a 1.6L and the specs say it has 69 NET HP which does include the steering pump, A/C compressor etc. Where did u buy the air intake?
Thanks! Well... mine is the 1.5 actually so you don't have exactly the same engine, there are some minor internal differences. If you remove the power steering and A/C you should get 74 HP according to factory. Not much of a difference though.
About the air intake... I created it. The black pipe on top of the carb is a piece of plastic I found on the junkyard. I bought a couple of 3" stainless pipes and I welded together a custom air filter bracket myself.
By the way, my engine is stock apart from the aftermarket electronic ignition and the air filter and exhaust. But I'm in the process of creating an E15ET engine out of my old engine that's in my garage. It's a slow low-budget project so it'll take a long while before it's done.
Sorry for the comment delay, I'll allow comments to appear immediately now. I've had it set to "wait for my approval" on any comment.
Oops my mistake. Yours is 69 hp probably because yours is rated on another octane number than mine or something. Mine is 75 hp on 97 octane (leaded). (I run on 98 octane unleaded). A/C and power steering don't eat as many horse powers as I thought. Sorry for giving bad advice.
Anyway, running on higher octane numbers (and setting the ignition accordingly) should give a couple of hp:s. Not very much but a slightly noticeable difference. :)
Nice ill try that. Theres no such thing as bad advice. It just said that it was 69hp in the specs and im not sure what octane number it was rated at but im sure it will increase a bit if i do run it on a higher octane reading. Thanks
Sorry, this is as the engine code suggests, a 1.5 (E15). There was no 88 bhp cherry engine, the 1.5 was 75 horsepowers (55 kW) and the 1.6 was actually 74 horsepowers. Benching one of these will probably give about 55-60 hp at wheels by the way. I haven't tried because I don't want to blow my engine. The gearbox has 5 gears. And it is not very fast, I have tested the 0-100 kph acceleration (unofficially), it was around 12.1 seconds.
The GA16 1.6l 12v engine might give 88 hp, but the Cherry N12 never had any GA series engine. I haven't seen any Cherry converted to GA16, so it's hard to tell if it's fast or not. My guess is that it is rather slow even with 88 hp.
No problem, I understand you. The piece that connects to the carburetor is made of plastic. The pipes are made of stainless steel and the black part that the filter is attached to is made of 1-mm thick sheet of ordinary steel. The black piece of pipe is ordinary steel so I had to paint it as well to prevent it from rusting.
can i install a short ram intake for my Lancer EL?? 1992 model??? its a carburetor type.. stock CYCLONE engine.

@famos10 Kiitti! Jeps, oli kyllä iso projekti, kori oli todella pahasti ruostunut.
Onko sulla kuvia/videoita omasta projektistasi? Olisi kiva nähdä miltä projektiautosi näyttää!

If you have please send or upload about how to tune the carburetor in a proper way.

u need twin carbs!

Thanks for the suggestion!
I have considered that but decided to turbo-convert my engine instead.

Thanx good to know! Maby i could try to come up with my own home made air intake lol. Its almost impossible to find parts for these cars now.

12v? Three valves per cylinder? That must be a GA16 engine from a Sunny N13. That's interesting. It would be nice to see photos or a video. :)
