I went thru my gold wing ceremony in march 1992 with 1st airdelivery on camp pendleton, this was filmed by 2nd airdelivery in lejuene, there is a reason for this, unless your gold wing you dont need to know what it is! The stupid part was allowing this to be filmed, it no longer occurs in the marine corps but i was pinned by my lt. my gunny, staff sergeants, sergeants, coprorals, fellow lance corporals and all who had thier gold wings already including a navy

I'm Army, but we used to have a similar ceremony where upon promotion, the pins on the metal rank on our collars would get punched into our shoulder blades. The men, the women were all good with it. I had it done 3 times. The military is about ceremony. The rougher the job, the rougher the ceremony. We're not like civilians. A little pain is nothing (for most of us.)

The MG bowed to pressure from the White House. Left to his own, he would have most likely told the press and concerned PC types to stay the hell out of Marine business (or he was one of those political types in the officer ranks.) 4. If he took off his shirt you'd see pin marks on his chest too.

If what you say about leading Marines in the future is true you should take a step back and realize that these "hazing" ceremonies are entirely voluntary as is evidenced by the Major General saying that he was not pinned like these guys were. And it had nothing to do with his status as an officer because at my blood pinning, I had a second Lt. standing next to me being pinned by a CWO2. And we both went into it eyes wide open.

I went thru my gold wing ceremony in march 1992 with 1st airdelivery on camp pendleton, this was filmed by 2nd airdelivery in lejuene, there is a reason for this, unless your gold wing you dont need to know what it is! The stupid part was allowing this to be filmed, it no longer occurs in the marine corps but i was pinned by my lt. my gunny, staff sergeants, sergeants, coprorals, fellow lance corporals and all who had thier gold wings already including a navy

I'm Army, but we used to have a similar ceremony where upon promotion, the pins on the metal rank on our collars would get punched into our shoulder blades. The men, the women were all good with it. I had it done 3 times. The military is about ceremony. The rougher the job, the rougher the ceremony. We're not like civilians. A little pain is nothing (for most of us.)

The MG bowed to pressure from the White House. Left to his own, he would have most likely told the press and concerned PC types to stay the hell out of Marine business (or he was one of those political types in the officer ranks.) 4. If he took off his shirt you'd see pin marks on his chest too.

If what you say about leading Marines in the future is true you should take a step back and realize that these "hazing" ceremonies are entirely voluntary as is evidenced by the Major General saying that he was not pinned like these guys were. And it had nothing to do with his status as an officer because at my blood pinning, I had a second Lt. standing next to me being pinned by a CWO2. And we both went into it eyes wide open.

Marine (and Army) combat soldiers are a different breed from civilians. They do things you don't understand, think are politically incorrect and seem crazed compared to you 9 to 5ers. Get some life experience in uniform before you make judgements on their activities.

@aznkent29 The only way they're being forced to do this is peer pressure. As far as the pain, ask any Marine Recon or Army Infantry soldier if they're afraid of pain.
With all civility, you really need to be in the Marines for 6-12 months then look back on this video. Right now, you're still thinking like a civilian. The MG is being two-faced. But, most officers are politicians nowadays...and I've got 23 years of not knowing what I'm talking about.
