Felt the same way coming to NYC, in a way it's much easier to live in a place where people don't value ethnic cultures, because in cities you get surrounded by people who expect that you share their values, whereas elsewhere it doesn't matter and you don't have to constantly explain yourself.
@flubno It's mostly girls because boys are favored in a family (farm or business labor, passing down the name while girls move in with the husband's family, and other traditional stuff). Girls are more often abandoned in China because of the one child law (me being one of those girls) while the boys are kept. It really is an incredible advantage to the girls though. Btw, your 'there' should be a 'their'
But that's just it. By our white parents adopting us out of our original countries and bringing us to the US it opened up many many issues they're not able to fully understand just by being white.
It's ashame that you were born in a country that has a one child policy and favors male children over female children. Maybe you should be upset about that instead of the fact that you were adopted. But, I guess it is easier to direct your anger towards the people that loved you and raised you.
ahh America does the same thing. Women make four cents less than men for every dollar. Women are discouraged to go out for certain positions and told to be mothers instead of competitive business/career women. America is no different, we point a finger at these countries while we have three other fingers pointing back at us.
wow Asians got issues...seriously, or mayb jus the older generation..reluctant to date outside or their race unless its a white person..n c an anzn person adopted as being lower than themselves..thts jus stupid, we're all human and we all need love...
@Diamondtv actually they dont even like to date white people, at least it is not being promoted. the good reason behind that is that they want to keep their blood line pure, and also to keep their asian culture intact. asians are too proud of their cultures. if they marry someone that is a different race, they would lose their cultures forever.
I just want to clarify a point. I'm a white male living in South Korea and strangely enough, I can identify with a lot of the things you talk about. In Korea, racism is a lot more vivid and obvious than it is in the US or Canada and I just wanted to say that returning to Korea isn't the salvation a lot of Gyopo think it is. I know a few here. Some found that they were treated worse than whites like myself. Such is Korean society and such is racism. I think Gyopo are better off in the USA.
very true. i'm a 1st generation gyopo and speak almost fluent korean but not quite enough to pass off as a local. when i go to korea i find that people find me interesting in their first impressions but then little by little find out that we cant relate all that much.
but i don't do too bad. i'm sure i can adjust to life in korea in 2-3 years if i had to. but for many 2nd, 3rd generations and adoptees it would be flat out impossible. they would do better in places like hong kong or singapore.
I don't know if Asian people views Adopted Asian lower. Maybe because of the older generation, who see adoption of Asians kids by whites as a shame. But certainly, we are in a different age.
@ionxi@adventurousvictor Some Koreans are quite superficial and descriminating based on Socioeconomic standard, family tied & connections, education, physical appearances and so on......just associate yourself with decent humans regardless of their race. I do feel for you it was not your choice to be adopted and God has special plan for you to become something greater than these judgemental idiots. Wish you all the best!

Some people are just ignorant. One child policy is practiced in China, and this woman is Korean.

it's kinda wierd that most people try to adopt there own kind. WHite people will take an asian girl as an alternate, never a asian boy, just girls

not accepted into their community?
there are so much differences between Asian groups and they sometimes (mostly?) do not get along...in intra-racial racism
too much pride, perhaps?
