  • I must admit there is something about the tune that conjured up visions of the Marine Drummers in the film "Captain and Commander" when they were 'beating to quarters' again Awesome!

  • Russ and gentlemen, This is absolutely beautiful ! I will go to sleep tonight with my radio off because this song will be playing over and over in my mind. The video is also awesome and brings back many memories ! Thank You Sir.

  • Could listen to this forever...a winter waltz in my mind,

  • Beautiful and inspiring.

  • Real music played by real musicians, you can't beat it!

  • I have the same guitar, it sounds equally good at home =) (saving the fingers difference)

  • Apparently, they don't have the rights to Jerry Douglas' face.

  • Great song russ!!

  • Faces in this video are worth more than a thousand words

  • Hey! it's Phil Cunningham! This is the first mp3 I ever purchased, because I heard it on a folk music radio program. I didn't know all the participants at the time. Nice!

  • Thjis is great. A few guys sitting around in a warm house playing great music together while the snow falls outside. Could life get any better? :-)

  • I guess even Russ Barenberg is happy this is back. Look at the statistics.

    Thanks Tom.

  • @MirrjamE

Yep - it's shooting back up tl same level as before!

    Hope you are well :)

  • @tomtscotland

Thanks a ton for resurrecting this tune !! I've tracked down the vendor of the DVD's over there. I'll be buying the sessions, and converting them to our country's coding.

PAL won't work in Canada. Cheers. Ken.

  • Brilliant!

  • Nice piece. Nice guitar. :) Epiphone Masterbilt AJ 500M is great.

  • Learning this tune now on guitar to play as a duet with a mandolin playing friend. Russ was born a hundred years to late. His pretty tunes could have been written long ago.

  • Bravo! That is just so beautiful. You've stirred up both sides of me, Tom, the Orange and the Green. Way down here in the antipodes, the blood still stirs and sings.

  • Hey that's pretty good, better than i could do!!!!! thanx for posting!

  • Listened to it ages ago and never left a comment.. A wonderful piece of music. . Thanks for posting it Tom, *****

  • Still love this. Gorgeous melody.

  • Soothing music; great stuff for the close of a stressful day.

  • lindo video !!! maravilhosa a melodia !!!

  • Timeless beauty.

  • Before I leave these pages för my own copies of TS 1&3 I would like to thank you, Tom and the others for giving the rest of the world a chance to discover all these marvelous artists. My celtic blood runs twice as fast as my swedish when I see their joy and satisfaction. To point out someone in particular is hard, but I have to mention the composer Russ Barenberg, the expressive Danny Thompson, Maura O`Connell - what a voice- and of course Jerry Douglas, who was the reason I found it.

  • Tottally agree Tom has steered me to some gems I didn`t know existed. Good music, great musicians what more could anyone want. THANKS Tom

  • What a player!

  • Must be great music. Even Aly Bain looked

    content.

  • Just gorgeous. Beautiful, unflashy guitar playing.

  • @neacht flashy enough, tho, w those signature RB pull offs.

  • @neacht I think the word you're looking for is "tasteful". I have a friend who plays classical guitar, but he acknowledges that many of the "Greats" in any genre will gladly sacrifice taste to show off technical skill - my own knowledge of music confirms this. The fact that Russ makes no attempt to show off makes him a great musician in his own right.

  • @17Hongo Well put! On top of that the best instruction books I have ever used are Russ's, so he's a brilliant communicator as well.

  • Russ Barenberg is one of the best composers of tasty tunes. Ilove his playing and the feelings he transfers.

  • What is the name of that drum?

  • complete breath of fresh air....so soulful,peaceful

  • Love it first heard in a record shop it was playing when i went had to buy the album

  • oh My God!!!!

    WONDERFUL!!!

  • enchanting and enduring...I keep sending this melody to anyone who loves music

  • Let's hope the DVD is available in American format too....

  • I keep coming back to this site for another listen. The song strikes a stong emotional nerve everytime I listen to it. I look forward to playing it on the mandolin and hope my fascial expression is as content as the squeeze box musician.

  • like others i saw them bbc4 - music to seriously chill out to. thanks for post!

  • Phil always looks so happy to be playing music. I'll bet he's a great guy in person. Gotta love Aly too.

  • Who said life was'nt peaceful ... beautiful!

  • Absolutly Beautiful !!! Thanks for posting Tom.

  • Oh man! Sheer bliss.

  • oh yes.....!

  • i saw this on BBC4 on friday and since then i tried looking for it here. Thanks!
