It bothers me that no one knows any of the past superstars, too. I was at a RAW Live Event in Dallas, TX 3 weeks ago when they announced Sunny's induction in the Hall of Fame Class of 2011. I think I was the only one who was cheering for Sunny in the area I was sitting. There were people saying, "Who's Sunny?" I was pissed. The history aspect is as important as the wrestling itself I believe.

Really? I've been watching wrestling for over 17 years and I'm not taking anything away from Sunny. Yes, Sunny did introduce the 'Diva' look but that was basically it. If it wasn't for Sunny breaking boundaries by getting storylines and having a role equal to the men then Sable probably would've still been a valet and nothing more.

It bothers me that no one knows any of the past superstars, too. I was at a RAW Live Event in Dallas, TX 3 weeks ago when they announced Sunny's induction in the Hall of Fame Class of 2011. I think I was the only one who was cheering for Sunny in the area I was sitting. There were people saying, "Who's Sunny?" I was pissed. The history aspect is as important as the wrestling itself I believe.

I actually remember buying a Sunny T Shirt at the WWF show in Dallas on Sep 7, 1996 (yes I remember the day clearly). She did one match with Ron Simmons, and then the 2nd half of the show, she changed and did a match with the Smokin' gunns. I clearly remember that night because it was the night 2pac got shot in vegas. Still have the shirt to this day.

There was a time when Sunny was all over WWE TV, but that was in 1995 when nobody was watching the product. When the WWE's ratings went through the roof in '98 and millions were rolling in, Sunny was barely on TV. Sable, however, was EVERYWHERE (and hugely popular), and thus the Diva Era was born.
Tammy knows this, and she's still bitter over it.

Liz walked to the ring and looked pretty. Which is basically all Sable did during Sunny's reign.
If it wasn't for Sunny breaking boundaries by getting storylines and having a role equal to the men then Sable probably would've still been a valet and nothing more.
The same goes for Marlenna, Chyna, and Luna. They were all valets while Sunny was a correspondent, referee, most downloaded woman on the internet, being on tv shows outside of the wwf, and the list goes on.

Sure, she was a great "valet" at the time and one of the first women in all of wrestling, but she barely played a role, especially a speaking role. It was "divas" like Sunny and Sable who were the true trailblazers or pioneers in WWF/E when it came to women who played a more integral part in WWF/E, starting around the "Attitude Era"

Made an impact as when people think about WWF Divas, Sunny is the first to come to mind.
She was a diva in every sense of the word. I also give credit to Terri Runnels because she had an excellent memorable character as well.
Sable also gets respect for being a pioneer. And yes all of those women I named are legends. Can't leave Chyna out.

I like Tammy. I do think though that Sherri Martel paved the way for all the females/divas anyway. Sherri and Elizabeth as a valet. Tammy was excellent in Smokey Mountain before she was in WWF.

This is ridiculous..She's the only one who calls herself the original diva...I mean does she know how cocky and arrogant she sounds and the chick can't even back it up..All she did was walk her ass around in the ring and run her mouth. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to do that. And the whole Sable thing is stupid. Sable only spoke one time about Sunny in the media and all she said was "Why is this girl still talking about me". I mean how can Sunny open doors when she hasn't even wrestled.

@bhicks85 thats because she is the original diva she was the first woman in the wwf/wwe when the term divas kicked in. And as for sable ill give her respect where it is due. And you say she doesnt even wrestle thats true, But how many of the divas nowadays can actually wrestle ... out of the few that are there only 4 can wrestle (Mickie James,Melina,Beth Pheonix and gail Kim) I will have the pleasure of working on a show with sunny in august in scotland and i will be humbled by her presence.

Actually, no she wasn't the first..Marlena was their at first and she did the same stuff Sunny did but Sunny just takes all the credit. I agree with you on the divas who wrestle because these girls today are horrible...It's all about the looks...Although, I give credit to Michelle, Mickie, Beth & Gail..Melena is overated, I mean she gets hurt every 4 months..Also, Sable wasn't the greatest wrestler but she just had one of the best female characters in history.

Sunny was a media personality, manager, and occasional wrestler in certain storylines.
If it wasn't for her then these pretty divas wouldn't have the huge roles that they do in the WWE today.
They would just be escorting men to the ring and standing on the sidelines. Like Sable did when she first arrived.
So Sunny did a lot. Even Trish Stratus has credited her for paving the way.

Sunny was not an occasional wrestler.. well she says that in this interview even though she has had some matches outside of wwe. She still sucks as a wrestler. She did not pave the way. If she did then there would be no womens title because she didnt do anything. all she did was be a manager. Now all she does is cuss lacey von erich & nikki bella.

Sunny had excellent ring presence. Nobody said she was a wrestler. But she knew how to carry a storyline and keep the crowd on their feet.]
She did countless of press outside of the wwf. Was one of the top downloaded people when internet was first becoming popular.
Women in the wwe today wouldn't have the huge roles they do now if it wasn't for sunny. She was more than a valet.

Anyways it wasn't just that. The term DIVA in wrestling started with Sunny. Nobody else before her was referred to that in the WWF.
You guys act like I'm saying she was the first woman ever. NO! But she was the first to have a role that's comparable to the guys.
And real divas don't wrestle. Sunny is a woman after all.

Nobody was referred to as a Diva back in the 90s.
It wasn't until the 00s that women started being called divas. That's when Sunny was coined the original diva of the WWF/WWE.
As well as Marlenna, Sable, Chyna, Luna, etc.
