  • what the riff at 1:14 - 1:53

  • my only thing, why a Jim Root Telecaster? I'll admit, I wanted one when I first started seeing them too, but then I started really thinking about what I was looking for, & my list did NOT have room for a Neck w/ a Rosewood Fretboard, & for what that actually is (a 2-Humbucker guitar w/ no middle pickup, he might as well just go the full-9 & get a Gibson Les Paul Gothic & load THAT with the active pickups (an EMG-81 & an EMG-60) or BETTER YET, get a Gibson Black Beauty HHH & go EMG 81, 60 & 85

  • you remind me of jay from jay and silent bob except you have dark hair.

  • i have both these guitars lmao

  • nice T-shirt! xD

  • I love my Jim Root Tele. I have an Alexi-600 like Invin and a Dean Zero , but I like the Jim Root Tele the best.

  • i love these guitars coz even tho they are a tele a hardcore person can make them look so fucking metal

  • Oh Yes, Finally i have learned something by ear :D

  • Comment removed

  • I dig that bluesy riff....awesome

  • there both amazing id go with the jim root tele bcuz just because i like solid bodys better and his sigs are amazing also has a strat model

  • Maple over Ebony u think? =P

  • this tele is the most comfotable guitar i have played, but the finish is awfull (i ve seen guitars that cost half price of this tele that have by far better finish)and the bridge could be much better...

  • thats the first tele i seen that is not twangy!

  • @thekidsarehungry thats because it has emg pickups

  • Honestly, which guitar do you think is better?

  • @Guitargawd13

If I could have either one, I'd take the Jackson. I just love the neck on it.

  • @Invin Which has a better sound for ozzy, maiden, metallica and stuff? Price difference?

  • Great playing, really entertaining stuff :)

  • what kind of loop pedal do you use? and if you know is there a pretty good one for cheap?

  • Whats the name of the first thing you play?

  • @08Wylde It was just an improv thing I was messing around with at the time.

  • good old lamb of god solo at the end nice man it was killer

  • Very nice play and good guitars !!!

  • what song are you playing in this vid and nice play and sick guitar i want it so bad

  • wicked sick

  • so fast riff..awesome..

  • That first melody sounds really familiar O.o what's that?

  • sounds something like a rendition of vermillion by slipknot.

  • hey i have a question will i get a J.R. Tele sound if I put EMG's on a JACKSON JS30DK?:)

  • @ToSeArNaUdOvSkI

Pretty much anything with an EMG 81 in it will sound close. You may need to tweak your amp a bit but you'll get the same basic high gain sound.

  • is the rr24m good for death metal?

  • @80smetalchild Every vid I watch I see your comment somewhere lol.. Youre EVERYWHERE! its good man... The RR24M is god fr DM yes, but its very two dimentional... One pickup really just isnt enough for me.. Other than that, 10/10 for that axe

  • @thesouthafricanguy

hahahahaaha yes i must leave comments on every video! ye i already bought the rr24m and its one kickass axe. i threw in an emg 89 to perfet the sweeps. aww man i love it

  • @80smetalchild Nice stuff man, enjy it.. Rock on \M/ :)

  • and now explain to me what the EMG89 has to do with perfecting sweeps? you'll have a singlecoil sound, and that'll be about it.

  • @MParseface38

no it has an option to be a single coil pickup. its very diverse. the when u flick the toggle it gives a much warmer sound ( great for sweeps like i said)

  • i know that it can be used as a single coil, but you'll have to live with less attack and less output and i don't see any point to that.

  • @80smetalchild Well, incase nobody's answered you yet, any solid body guitar with an EMG 81 will be good for death metal, or any other kind of metal.

  • @gimmethat619

haha i bought the guitar like over a year ago. YES it is amazing for death metal. i carved a spot so i could install an emg 85 neck pickup. now its wonderful for riffage and leads alike. the neck pickup opens up a warmer tone it was missing.

  • @80smetalchild That's cool. Did you have it done professionally or by yourself? if done professionally, how much did it cost? if you don't mind me asking

  • @gimmethat619

i had it done proffesionally. obviously i had to buy the pick up. but if i remember correctly, hving him carve open the spot in my guitar and setting up the wiring and everything costed about 80 bucks

  • Yeah he hit on the head, EMGs really bring out the highs in your guitar though plus the teles made of mahagony a dark sounding wood and the jacksons either basswood or alder, if its alder its really bright wood

  • tele's are made out of alder dude.

  • These are made of mahagony, dude

  • im pretty sure jim root designed it to be made out of mahagony

  • @TAK808

    not this one.

  • @ToSeArNaUdOvSkI personally i wouldn't put the emg's in it, sell the guitar, and buy a dxmg with the cash it's much better, i have both and i hate the 30, the trem goes out of tune too easily and if it isnt doing thta for you it will soon :/ those trems degrade like a used tampon

  • jackson RR24 M!!!GREAT GUITAR

  • how is that RR compared to the alexi 600 you have? thanks

  • The RR feels smaller and lighter, but they play very similar. The main different is the body size (the Alexi being much larger). Overall I'd say the RR is a slightly tighter package all around.

  • amazing playing bro u have real talent do u have a band myspace?

  • he looks like the jay from jay and silent bob - cool guitars

  • i love that fender

  • best guitar in the world! I've got one...amazing guitar, it's actually perfect, no other guitar I've played compares; it's just brilliant in every way>>> it's feels great, very comfortable, very playable>the neck's great, unfinished so there's no paint or gloss to slow you down, sounds immense (EMG 81/60)>whether it's plugged in or not... and the flat white finish is flawless +++ nice contour at the neck heel to grab those high frets, weights just right (personally)

    Highly recommended!!!

  • damn. i do not have le cash de money. lol.

  • damm u got skills, need a bassiest for your band?

  • Thank you for this vid cause I love those guitars both and I'm gonna buy one of those two but Ihad hesitations.

  • wat is the song in the begining of the vid

  • Considering the ESP Eclipse II or a Jim Root Telecaster. Which do you prefer and why?

How is the Root Tele's neck feel compared to an MIA Stratocaster (if you have played one, it's what I have now).

    Nice playing by the way.

  • I prefer the ESP Eclipse for the thinner neck and comfortable body shape (to me, anyway). I can't recall the neck on an MIA Strat, but I can tell you that the neck on the Jim Root is very thick compared to the Eclipse.

  • the esp will have a much thicker, fuller sound, but the tele will be alot brighter and a bit less muddy, never played the jum root tele, but the eclipse is a dream to play

  • Actually having compared the two back to back this Tele is just as thick and full soundwise as the Eclipse, if not moreso. The EMG 81/60 combo really nullifies the "Tele" sound and makes it sound big and metal-ish.

  • hmm, never played the root.. much less a tele with any emgs haha, i was juts guessin based on the scale lengths and woods.. i love the eclipses though, i still dont get why they wont make em wit h24 frets like the ltds though

  • Totally, I'd love to have 24 frets on mine :(

  • also apart from the EMG 81/60, the mahogany body/maple neck combination adds more thickness/heaviness to the sound...the EMG 60 at the neck's very heavy sound-wise

amazing guitar (personal opinion> The Best) :)

  • oh its a mahogny body? i thought it was alder or ash like regular teles

  • yup... it's completely to jim roots spec... it's a bit heavier then a standard tele, thanks to the mahogany which adds that weight to the sound; it's a really heavy sounding guitar, fantastic for most styles but it's a metal guitar. everything was specified by Jim, the contour at the neck heal for more comfortable + better access to higher frets... the C shaped neck, the hardtail bridge, the schaller locking tuners, the emgs, the woods, ebony fretboard, lush flat white/black finish

  • finaly to hear a the zw wah with a jackson rhoads.i got my self a rhoads and i dnt know if i want the zakk wylde wah or the dimebag wah.btw the vid on my pro isnt my gear

  • You know your shit man. That was kickass. What wah pedal were you using?

  • It's a Dunlop ZW45 (Zakk Wylde sig), only cost about $90.

  • What is the first song you play? It just sounds so epic.

  • That was just something I wrote the day I made the video so I thought I'd throw it in.

  • I wish I could write like that. It sounds really good man.

  • dude you're amazin

  • I am considering getting the jim root tele, would you recommend it man or not so good?

  • It's a really nice guitar, but keep in mind the neck is quite thick compared to something like a Jackson, so if you're looking for a fast shredding machine it might not be the top choice on the list.

  • Thanks for the feedback man :) I have a bc rich they have massive necks so yeh that wouldn't be a problem. I need something what sounds good and looks more low key, so would the jim root guitar do that for me?

  • Yep! It's a very solid guitar. The thick neck was the only real issue I had with it.

  • its not a thick neck if your hands are like jims :D. i thought it felt like butter

  • i have the Tele (immense guitar)

i never found the neck was too thick, more comfortable... i guess it's just personnel preference...it works for me + it works for Jim Root :)

if your looking for a great metal guitar (of just a great guitar.), the tele's fantastic... i'm not really a shredder as a metal guitarist (i'm more heavy rhythm and killswitch engage style melodies), that neck's unfinished so there's no paint/gloss to slow you down, which can help

it's just what you prefer really :)

  • thats a joke xD

    slipknot sucks balls

  • no, laiho is way more talented

  • Comment removed

  • awesome, you have to become famous:)

  • dude ur sick. how do u afford all ur nasty guitars!? nd what pedals nd effects r u using nd how old r u nd how long have u been playin? please respond. im very curious...btw rated u a 5:D

  • The guitars in this vid belong to a friend that let me play them. I'm 22 and have been playing for about 8 years now. All my gear is listed on my profile, but I usually just play the guitar straight into the amp with no effects.

  • im getting the jackson!!!!!!!!

    yay!!!!!!

  • how's that tele?

  • jackson's a beauty!!

how does that maple neck feel?

  • It feels awesome man! Probably my favorite thing about the guitar. It's just so unique looking at a maple neck when you're playing.

  • What amp are you using here?

    Good sound :D

  • It's a Marshall AVT 150.

  • i have the same jackson maple bridge...

    its fucking awesome

  • dude amazing video......do u have band videos??

  • Sorry no band vids :( Hopefully someday.

  • jim's tele,is so much better than micks ibenez, they're both good guitars, but the telecaster takes it for half the price

  • Fuck yeah!

  • have you played both of them when you do you will see what is really better no matter the cost

  • i love the fact that jim is in such a brutal band and has such a un-brutal looking guitar lol but that thing can sing

  • What song is that from 1:16 - 1:54?

  • It's one of my own, from my video "Song for Brittany"

  • what's better?

the rr24 or the alexi 600?

  • I prefer the RR24, but they're both great.

  • i tried them both and the rr24m is better and cheaper

  • theyre almost thesame but everytime i see the alexi, it looks cheap, looks.. i don't know it looks not fully grownup and the jackson is the adult..

i don't know how to explain, played the rr24m at harrods in londen 3 days ago and im still shakin'..

  • hey do they sell guitars in harrods?

  • Yeah they do.. At the music department of Harrods they do. (I went with the staircase, went throug some shops, and came into the music department. The guitar part was on my right. At first I saw nothing but strats, so I was feeling bad. Though, there are 2 corners, and the second corner had jackson's aswell! Yaay for me! :P

It looks weird though, an guy with an suit like a businessman having to tune the guitar :P

  • ALL THE JIM SIGN TELE MADE IN MEXICO?

  • YES! lol

  • fuck imma get swine flu i f i get one. hey its worth it

  • does the jackson have an original floyd rose or liscenced floy fore?

  • It's original I believe (it says Floyd Rose right on it and is exactly the same as the one in my Alexi 600 as far as I can see).

  • cool, cuz thats the guitar i want. its always an origianal if it says the words floyd rose on it. its lisenced if it says "liscenced under floyd rose patent"

  • awesome playing bro

  • pathetic by lamb of god dude! nice job!

  • your face reminds me of Zacky V

    nice

  • damn... i can order one online but i dont know because i wanna play one first

  • nice bro ask your band mate if he got that jim root tele from guitar center because my locale guitar center doesnt carry them and it pisses me off

  • Hey man,

He said he bought it at a local shop in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) on White Avenue.

  • i have a jackson dk2m i love the neck, really thin and has a light finish so its easy to slide up and down the neck, my les paul has a really heavy finish on the neck so your hands stick to maple neck ftw

  • i notice gibson has a tendency to put tons of gloss on their necks. my Mahogany vintage LP has a satin finish all around so now gloss on the neck.

i don't think ill deal with a guitar w/ a glossy finish again.

sick axes on yer bandmate. not a big fan of the jackson;s looks but it sounds great. and the tele is badass

  • probably avenue guitars

  • hey are you running that straight into the avt? settings? avt cab?

  • I do have some pedals (all listed on my profile), but the distortion and tone are all from the AVT, my pedals are almost always off. I use the AVT 4x10 cabs. Settings-wise, I've found I get my favorite sound by using the OD2 channel, turning the mid scoop on, then cranking the mid setting to 8 or 9 while keeping the treble and bass around 5 and adjusting as needed :)

  • SUPER CLEAN PLAYING! Dunno if it's because I am used to watching low quality vids here in youtube or something but the playing is super clear

  • ure awesome, whts that song u play at first with ure jackson guitar>?????

  • It's one of mine, it's from my other video "Song for Brittany".

  • Great job ! I love the second part with the Jackson !

  • hey this riff from 1:15 - 1:40 is pretty cool, your own? i wanna play that too -_-

  • Yeah man! It's from my other video Song For Brittany. It's been a favorite riff of mine since I wrote it so I really wanted to play it again now that I have the loop station pedal.

  • $900.00 in Canada! yay lol

  • Any idea how much the Telecaster costs? it's awesome :)

  • It should be pretty easy to look up at your favorite instrument store online; I think somewhere around $1000 if I remember right though.

  • you never cease to impress me bro

  • Thanks man!

How's your music been coming along?

  • not too well. no one in this part of the world will commit

  • Yeah it's so hard to find a few people who are all on the same page.

  • i tried recording alone but im sukch a social butterfly

  • U has skillz.

  • is the first 0:47 seconds a cover or yr own song

  • That one's my own. I've yet to really make a song out of it, but I'd like to some day.

  • fucking awesome dude

  • hey dude do you should cover some killswitch engage

  • I don't have any of their albums, what's a good one?

  • all there stuff is good man um...i would say cover my curse from the daylight dies cd or end of heartache from there end of heartache cd

  • oh ya they do alot of slides and harmonics oh...and one more thing they only use a overdrive pedal

  • hey how do those compare to the esp's

  • The neck on the Tele is a bit fat, and I'm not a big fan of the pickup switch location, but it has a real nice tone. The Jackson is pure bliss! It's so light and tight and fast; overall the same as the Alexi but a bit more exotic feeling with the lighter body and maple fretboard.

  • is the jackson a dual hum* or a single hum*

  • Just a single EMG 81 in the bridge. Sorry my knee is kinda covering it hehe.

  • haha its fine..... hey any new stuff from yr band

  • Nothing yet; we're kind of arranging a new lineup but I'm hoping we can keep going.

  • oh ok well keep me posted

  • is the tele's neck pretty fast?

i've seen that its got the beefy EMG chugging sound, but how is solo-wise?

  • The neck is quite bulky compared to the Jackson, my Eclipse, or my Alexi. The wood has a really nice feel to it, and you can definitely solo with it, but it's not as fast as the other guitars for that. I found myself always wishing the neck was thinner.

  • awesome
