What makes this more of a classic is that the new appliances say that they r better, where im watching this movie on my mobile Droid phone and in front of me is my HD tv, my Xbox 360, Kinect, and a cable box. Such great appliances!
Maaaaan that computer's shit. People be talkin' about how it gives you more... and shit. Well you know what I'm tryin' to say? I'm tryin' to say is that... c'mon man, CRT? That little screen, that looks like a Dildo. I ain't tryin' to read what's on ma floppies with no DIL-DO.
@qfinite yeah, well. This movie was made by Disney, and with John Lasseter(sp?) as one in the crew, so that was the golden days. I might not have been born when this movie was made(i was born in the 90's) but i looove the classic old Disney alot better
I wish he took the A/C with him. I liked how the A/C was finally happy and earned the boy's care and love. It's another one of my favorite scenes. Along with Lampy powering up the battery in that storm and Kirby saving the others in the water.
i like that they criticize how we just throw away whatever we consider out of date with no regard to its history or what it means to others rather sad really
i used to pretend my dinner fork was the plug and that i was the toaster. now i am dead. post this on 5 other brave little toaster videos before midnight or the clown will drop you in the bath tub.

@exposed97 As it happens, John Lasseter (Director of the first Toy Story, and co-founder of Pixar) did the storyboards for this film! Then when he suggested that they animate the backgrounds in CG, he got fired from Disney
the part with the air conditioner always made me cry as a kid. and still does. just his suprised look that he even decided to come back and fix him makes me sad
You all used to be/were/are scared by the car crushing part? I always found that scene (Heck, the scenes with the A/C, the Fire fighter Clown, the fat guy's shop with the dissected appliances, the heartbroken dying flower, this whole movie) more interesting than scary when I was a kid. Different strokes, I suppose...
I am contemplating getting a newer car for myself. I love my 13 year old car. It was my first (and only) car. This junk yard scene has haunted me since I was a kid... when i was little and my family traded in our first family van for a newer one, i balled my eyes out then. i just cant get the image out of my head of my baby- my car- being crushed into a tiny cube.... =( I love my car! very emotional scene..
@ShiningStarLives I'm the same way man, I grew up with this movie and I simply REFUSE to ever scrap my first car 'Lilly' ever. I'd never put her through something like that.
I really hope maybe you find some other way of trading cars, maybe selling your old one instead?
Is it kinda weird that their master, Rob, can fix appliances like the Air conditioner and Toaster, but in the sequels he became a pet doctor? I would have thought he became a repair man or manager of some appliance store or something.
@davidevgen I don't think you were supposed to feel bad for him. If you look he's smiling while he's tearing up. I think the point of the scene was that he finally got what he always wanted and MOAR. Not only was the Master finally 'able to reach his dials' but he also fixed him and brought him back to life! To me it seems like he got the perfect goodbye from his master before someone else buys the house.
@Virus278 he just realized that he had gotten fixed by the master and had gotten a secound change at life. he got used by him and that was the last time too...
1:15 Ugh, my friend had one of those projection TVs. I thought it was kitschy and stupid back then too. The colors didn't blend right so the picture was tinted red green and blue in several parts.
@valentinedeer214 Still, we had our day. It's weird looking back on this now and have to laugh at it in that pathetic way since it's all in the past anyway.
@RoseNoir90 that actually makes sense in a way because the toys did think Andy abandoned them at first and them going to a junkyard so yeh maybe so :)
This makes me feel good about being a poor college kid; everything in my apartment is old appliances and furniture familys has given me or that I got at Value Village or something. :)
Kind of ironic to put these songs in a row this way. Vintage cars are superior to the modern ones. If I won the lottery (though I don't play it) I'd never buy a new car...but I'd buy lots of old ones.
hey the lamp of the cutting edge's gang is not as fancy as lampy... i mean... do you knwo how comftable is that kind of lamp? they can bend to anyplace you want, perfect for drawers.
And 3:45 was kind of sad... The 'master' was too short to reach the air conditioner before, but now that he came back, he fixed him. To the air conditioner, I guess that was the only time the master actually 'played' with him like he did with the toaster, the vacuum, the lamp, the radio, and the blanket.
Pretty much this whole movie is all about how we treat obsolete technology. From the look of the comments below about how the Computer and entertainment system was once the "cutting edge" of technology, unless we change our ways about how we treat and develop technology 1080p Flat Screen Plasma TVs will end up in the same place as old CRT TV's with Rabbit Ears: The junkyard.
@Elenkeon Yes... which makes me wonder why the junk shop was treated to the same horror atmosphere as the junkyard. At least the junk shop is recycling parts of old thing to make new ones, shouldn't that be something we should endorse rather than use to terrify children into keeping their security blankets into adulthood?
This is scary because the magnet was after them from the very BEGINNING. Every time it went for a car, our heroes were usually nearby... It's scary how the magnet was really trying to kill them.
Lol the irony here is the toaster lamp and blanket are the only technology that isnt obsolete today. That computer is funny, wheres the tower? whys the keyboard stuck to it? that moniter is huge! the grahics suck as well :P
pretty arrogant computer for something that looks like a clunky comadore 64 :P
This is a great movie, that I used to watch all the time when i was around 8-11 ish. Now that I'm in my late 20's, Isee it in a new way. Like the cars singing at the impound. It's scary. it's akin to people singing on the way to the gas chamber in the holocaust. I know that's extreme, but still, you see what I mean.
BTW- I have yet to see a dump that large with a crusher THAT elaborate!
What makes this more of a classic is that the new appliances say that they r better, where im watching this movie on my mobile Droid phone and in front of me is my HD tv, my Xbox 360, Kinect, and a cable box. Such great appliances!
