Funny thing is that I agree with you on the rest -- and yet I absolutely loved the original. For me it's not that SC1 was a bad game. It's that they just kept getting better.

Ahh. See, I only played it on PC. A review I read said the controls actually worked better for PC, you know, with the mouse wheel to control your speed instead of the analog sticks. The fighting mechanics were pretty lame, though, and after Chaos Theory I can't see how I ever played without the knife and the OCP and that remote hacking ...thing.

Oh, no, no, got nothing against Xbox, actually I've got quite a few fond memories of playing Portal on a friend's. I just already owned a PC and figured if the game would run on my existing setup I'd go with that instead of getting another. Is the Xbox version severely enhanced? I'm trying to remember which edition of the game has the extra missions, but I thought it was the PS2 one...

Yeah. I have no idea why they made the decisions they did. Friggin' marketing probably. I think there was a special edition for PC later on, but I never found it, and I could just be tripping out. I don't really know the differences between the platforms, but I wish they'd remake the original missions, deleted ones included, for Chaos Theory or later, so you could benefit from the advances in gameplay, graphics etc. Oh well, I can dream. :)

Gotta agree with you. PCs are common. They can do a lot more than a console can. If your current one isn't powerful enough, you can upgrade it instead of replacing it. I guess a dedicated console is cheaper and more portable, and it's easier to set up for several people playing at once, but if I'm planning a co-op session with a friend we typically just rent.
