My father passed away, from complications due to Alzheimer's Disease, back in February, 2007. My mother passed away in October, 2008. The last time I saw my father, alive, he didn't recognize me. He fell the day after Valentine's Day, went into a coma and passed two days after being sent home to die. My father had problems, but I miss him and my mom very much!! They're both in a better place and I know they are watching out for me and my family!
Have always tried to connect this song with my feelings for my dad; I just can't. My dad has been absent from the family most of our lives...he's alive, has Parkinson's, he's 78 yrs old now and he's more absent now than when he was healthy. I keep hoping I can connect my heart to his, at least at some point before he goes.
Beautiful, heart-rending song by my favorite singer of all time. I have a poster of her, from 1968, signed: "Love, Judy". I have obeyed that request ever since by always loving Judy.
I weep for you, too. I lost my father when I was 19 and have missed him every day. He taught me early that I could do anything I wanted to do if I worked for it. He was right.
You are so right, obutyes, and your video's introductiory narrative frames it so well. Maybe not her very best presentation, but the significance she holds for the song is quite evident.
I bough the album in 1968 too. Funnily enough, when my father heard 'My father...' he liked it so much he went out and bought a copy of the album. A man of taste.

what a treasure to listen to
on this fathers' day weekend...
may we all have joys to recall
from the gift of having a father...
I miss mine terribly.
His sense of humor will live in me
forever.

This song makes me weep for my own father, lost when I was 18 to suicide... loved him so much and never told him enough. Thank you lovely Judy.

That's very sweet. My father is 89 now & his favorite melody is Dvorak's New World Symphany which was famous in China during his youth.

Agreed suzie.. Miss Collins is a master.. and that song can transport you back to childhood in a flash. It's timeless.
Judy is still a stunningly beautiful person and her voice is still perfection.

....pure beauty of the childhood view
we can travel to places that transportation can not deliver...
our hearts, our dreams....and the things to come, hearts to fill with love, dreams to dream come true....
