  • Am in that video...the frames do good live!...

  • First heard this song just a couple of months after this vid was recorded. He was at a Jeff Buckley birthday tribute, and in that context, this song just ripped my heart out, even more so than when he played "Neath the Beeches" which he wrote at the moment he heard of Jeff's death. By the time he got near the end where he sings louder, I was sobbing uncontrollably. Hugely cathartic. Soooo very lucky to have discovered Glen that night!

  • super live

  • I actually Saw The Frames play on Jimmy Fallon several weeks ago, which was a first for me... So Glad I did!! I Love Glen Hansards music now! Also Guys if you havent seen it, Check out the Movie "ONCE" He's the Main Character and he plays his Music Throughout!!!

  • Sorry. Pretty daft of me not to look up Carney's wikipedia entry.

Still would be fun to see video of him when he was in The Frames.

  • Is John Carney playing bass here by any chance? If not where is there video of him playing with Frames?

  • @zhandoatosl no that's Joe Doyle on bass there. If you to see John Carney playing, search for a video called "The Frames - 'fish' Interview" @ 1:42

  • Thier music reminds me of mountain rivers, and i think the chords in this song sound more blue and green, not red. Pretty though. Fair play to them!

  • 2:12

    oh dear god!!!!!

  • unreal band, irish legend

  • I cried when I listen the version on bredcrumb Trail. Brave on. ;)

  • love it, love the frames, would have loved to have been there.....

  • truely an outstanding performance....just like always. in every song this band has so much to offer!

  • Thanks for dedicating this tune to me Glen, first time I seen it, big love and hope everything is good for you. Sharpy X

  • ive tears in my eyes listenin 2 this song, so intense, amazing.

  • What a great song..

  • Amazing.

  • This is a great version. Cheers for the upload.

  • Love this. Possible fav frames song!

  • Guys help me out here, there was an AMAZING version of this song from todayfm which was recorded on new years eve or day, if anyone has it I would be ETERNALLY grateful.. cheers :)

  • I'm assuming you're talking about the couple at about 2:10. If so, I couldn't agree more! Gorgeous moment!

  • i hate that it cuts off the ending

  • wow, brought tears to my eyes! he is so amazing!

  • Sorry for the silly question, but what is the "red chord" represent? literally or metaphorically...I love the song but I'm not sure I know what he's talking about.

  • maybe the string to his/her heart?

  • The red chord refers to the red emergency cord that used to hang in every NYC subway train where if you pull it the train would come to an emergency stop. The word "chord" has a double meaning since it's music he's playing. The song is about asking for help from a Higher Source. I find his lyrics incredibly rich, poetic and deep.

  • than adds so much more meaning than i even imagined.

  • What a King of a man :)

  • Mmm Glen Hansard! One of my favourite songs

  • They will play at the Jason Edmond Center for Studies in a few years... as long as fate doesn't smack us in the throat, and cause all timelines to distort. 0/0

  • This song is amazing. The Frames, and Marketa Irglova are THE best musicians ever.

  • i think its a shame that they get as little radio play in the UK, than they do down south n over in america, these guys r true musicians and should deserve more credit than duely given, lets be honest their in a different league to U2

  • One of the best at "screaming" while still carrying tone and making it sound great

  • Yeah, the version of "Say it to Me Now" from the movie is another prime example....I have no idea how his vocal cords don't get fried!

  • Awe! hes not using his signature Takamine! Oh well, this is an amazing song! its just touching.

  • Can't imagine I'll have tired of them.

  • Red chord is one of my favorite songs

  • I need to see The Frames again soon...

  • me too

  • So glad I found this band through youtube. I had NEVER heard of them before as they get no radio play here. Such a great band.

  • just beautiful.

so much passion in his voice, it drives me wild.

"and for everything you learn, there is something you must let go of..."

  • Yeah, one of best pieces. The Frames are rare.

  • Sorry, I meant to give it a thumbs up! The Frames are indeed rare!

  • call me a hypocrite cos i hate when people only like one person in a band but seriously how fuckin deadly is glen hansard

    fitzcarraldo=best frames album

  • agreed mate. he is deadly

  • I think picking a best Frames album is like saying you love one of your children more than another. It is not done. This is my favorite band by far, and all their albums make me feel something different but each are gorgeous.

  • i recorded this on an old VHS tape and usta watch it all the time, Gemma Hayes and David Kitt were awesome that day too. Thanks for posting. :)
