I spent about 35 minutes of my time almost pulling my hair out and deciding it was impossible, before finding this video. Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed.
While this will work you are setting up WINDOWS sharing to transfer files between 2 linux based operating systems. This is obviously not the best way to do things, especially considering how buggy snow leopard is connecting to windows shares.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I've spent days googling through swamps of terminal tap crud to find this. Bang, it works!! Even on VirtualBox! Thanks again mate, you've made my day!
is there a way i can transfer my files to my ubuntu ? from my windows like when i use my ubuntu server, it doesnt let me download stuff, it says unable to send packets or something, that's why i wanna trasnfer files instead of re-downloading everything.
Can you access this folder from your mac as anything other than a guest? I tried accessing w/ my ubuntu login and pw w/ no luck. Though I can access as a "guest", I can't view any of the files in the shared folder from my mac.
I'm thinking I might start making some more tutorials, just because I'm always very grateful when I come across a video that solves one of my problems. I'd like to help people.
Thank you that was really helpful, I didn't think I needed to connect to a server :)

I have done what you said but 2/3 my macs keeps saying:
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again.
Any other suggestions, I can't for the life of me figure it out....?

Dude this was awesome.
I think you should make some tutorials on more OSX things. I called myself knowing a lot about it, but i'm 150% you got me beat by a long shot. :P
Great Job!
