  • The interviewer is unprepared, unprofessional, and completely annoying.

  • My ancestry is Italian,I am a natural born citizen of the USA and I love all of Spike Lee Movies. He is not a racist, thats the way it was in this country. I am 60 yrs old,I saw racism as a child and I never like it or understood it.

  • Even the Italians were mad at Spike Lee's movie, just distorted history with a hidden agenda to promote diversity.

  • Great movie. Mr. Lee did a wondeful job

  • Damn I should've been in this movie. It was great.

  • you know i didnt see the movie the way you guys did. sure there were a few racial tensions in the movie, but i dont think thats what the movie was about. i think the movie was saying that nobody was innocent, yet every side had innocence in it. a good message.

  • This is a great movie depicting black Catholics who had so much faith. I think people are missing the point how all these hundreds of Catholics were shot by the Nazi's. These black brave men even wore their rosary around their necks. Goes to show how the world was mostly Catholic.

  • I have no problem with Black people and I don't hate them. I just don't like people who are like Spike Lee who thinks white people are racist because they may be related to slave owners or their ancestors were racist. It just pisses me off because Spike Lee tries to make it like all white people are racists. I myself am not a racist.

  • Spike really makes movies based of experiences of people he know or experiences he can relate to. Or in this case, untold stories of black american soldiers who went to battle for the country during WWII. He really tells stories in the community that would otherwise go untold. And even if they sometimes focus on the black "experience", these are still american stories bc he and we are american.

  • @kombatkid106 so far from the truth it's scary

  • i loved the movie but i agree with chistyle30. the ending was great and dont2002, it was historically correct! on another note, even though i didnt really like SPR THAT much, but i also agree that you cant compare them. The Miracle at St.Anna IS THE BEST!!!!!!

  • Beginning was bad, ending was bad, and the film was too long. If you cut out about 20-maybe 30 mins of the body, that would be a stellar war film. To me, the whole other side story of the soldier in the 1980s was totally unnecessary, distracting, and actually reinforced (imo) many of the racial stereotypes lee wishes to strike down. the body of the film is amazing though - just tighten it and that would have been perfection. since none of this happened, it stands as just a so-so film.

  • This movie is the greatest and there is nothin out there that depicts the Buffalo soldiers. Whites were racist and they did treat the Germans better. There is no history to show the treatment and this is one of the reasons why it was swept under the table.

  • People really doggin this movie out??!! WOW, I thought it was GREAT!!! One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Loved how it ended, love the characters, everyone played their parts. Not much I can say bad about this movie. SPIKE DOES IT AGAIN!!! HATERS WILL HATE!

  • Yes, I do agree that the nazi's were probably treated better than the blacks but I bet you more nazi's were executed than blacks and the nazi's by law had to be handled as prisoners properly and also, I totally disagree that all of the white people in the film were racist. I am just protecting history and stopping Spike Lee re-write history and make the "Whitey" as he calls white people stop re-writing history and stop making the white man as if he is a horrible racist which we are not.

  • The film didn't show ALL the white people being racist. The only racist white people in the movie were the ones in the southern diner scene, and their captain and general. But that was accurate, because it's a known fact that a lot of white officers leading black troops felt that blacks were inferior and also black troops were denied service in a lot of places in their country as well as military bases. Plus the Italians weren't depicted a racist at all.

  • I don't know about you, but I trust FIRST HAND ACCOUNTS much more than what I see on the History Channel.

If anything, Spike Lee may have portrayed officers as being way less racist than they really were.

The fact that racial division in the military even existed is evidence enough.

And don't think I'm biased because I'm black, cause I'm not.

I'm a white boy; actually I'm as "white" as white boys can get.

Racism was a huge problem, but our country has progressed; THAT'S WHAT'S IMPORTANT.

  • Listen, I just watched the movie and I realized that Spike Lee is a racist making all of the white people in the film look like racists. I think that more black people are racist than white people because more white people sacrificed more than black people for rights like the civil war for example. I am not saying black people are bad but I think people are just getting over the line with the white and black racism issue.

  • It's a known fact that the US govt treated Nazi P.O.W.'s better than Black US soldiers.

  • The movie is actually very accurate.

A good friend of mine (R.I.P. James) who was in a black division actually fought in the "Battle of the Bulge".

He had numerous stories about how racism was very much a part of the war and how it was carried out.

Even during war time blacks were treated as commodities.

But he also said that WWII was a HUGE factor in the "racial enlightenment" of America.

Whites finally started to see blacks as true brothers when they were together on the front lines.

  • He even let me read his journals (he was lucky enough to have enough of an education to be literate to an elementary extent).

    Blacks were essentially "scouts".

They were usually the first to be sent into hostile territory because they weren't valued very much.

Those that survived would return and give a report, which allowed the rest of the army to strategically invade without having to sacrifice any of "their own".

Racism was VERY PROMINENT at the time.

  • Overall i was a good movie, I dont quite care for spike lees continuos messages of the white man keeping the black man down with his movies. I think the more people continue to focus on who owes who what and who has kept who down then rasism will always be an issue.

  • How is it possible to make a movie about a SEGREGATED combat unit in WW2 and not deal with race? Spike would be doing the men who fought in these units a disservice if he didn't depict the RACISM they had to endure while trying to fight for FREEDOM.

  • the ENDING WAS SO FUCKIN BAD ILL SEE IT A BILLION TIMES FO SHO

  • GREAT MOVIE AND INTERVIEW!!!

  • another piss poor movie by Spike.

  • its the best movie!! far better than saving faggot ryan

  • What?! better than SPR? Are you serious? You cannot seriously compare this movie with Spielberg`s war movie. Saving private ryan was a masterpiece and realistic, not to mention winning alot of awards.

Miracle at st.ana was not even historically incorrect.

    The best movie... Really?? wow

  • I totally agree with all they had to say. Spike Lee made a good choice for Derek Luke in Miracle at St. Anna because he has never done anything like this before. Inside Man was all the go-go cop he needed, and a war movie set in this period of time is pretty fascinating and realistic.

  • racist?......damn, we still have a long way to go

  • Hey lets all go see it bacause we're black! We need to support all black men out there who get just as racist as the minority of white men who are racist...

  • i saw the movie last nigh at a sneek preview. i was absolutely amazing!!! you have to go see this movie. it grips your heart, soul, and your mind from the very beginning. when the movie comes out i am willing to pay to see it again....thats how wonderful this movie is. and for the person that said that they heard from someone that it was not good... stop being such a follower. go check it out for yourself so you can gain your own opinion. ppl please open your minds.....

  • There was a movie about the Buffalo Soldiers that came out about 10 years ago but it wasn't a WW2 movie, it was a western and they were fighting indians. A movie about the Nissei exists beacuse I remember watching it a few times on either TNT or TCM in the early 90's. It was made after WW2 and was in black & white. Maybe Spike will do a remake of it.

  • Interviewer DUDE you need to work on your interviewing skill.. SERIOUSLY DUDE

  • I read the book and it is an amazing story. I know Spike will do a great job and I can't wait until Sept. 26!

  • I heard the movie is not good, go rent Glory

  • Then you heard from a moron because the movie isnt out until next week.

  • reviews have already come out though, and they're not great. everyone should still see it though, i mean it's spike lee.

  • That's probably why the "critics" haven't given it good reviews...They never have given him the respect that he deserves.

When it's all said and done, they will see that he was one of the best film directors of this or any generation.

  • I'm glad he brought up the Nissei battalions. That would be cool to watch. Anyway I can't wait to see this movie.

  • Cool to hear Spike Lee talk about the Nissei. Many Americans, Japanese, Chinese, Latino, etc. were involved in fighting during WWII. Still, if he's talking about a lack of a movie about the Buffalo Soldiers, well, there was a movie about ten years ago that did focus on them. Starred Danny Glover I think.
