before all those patches, blood was great, but now theyve nerfed the effect, cooldowns and pretty much everything :)

at the time of my previous post, the benefits outweighed the bonus avoidance and protection.

Still does with decent spec and gems, but today i am rolling Frost, although i am mainly doing UH pvp arena in 2.3k ++ rating aiming for server #1

Scourge strike has had so many buffs and debuffs lately... it wasnt even 4 months ago when they added that shadow damage effect in to it, which could crit just as large a crit coefficient as the melee, so a DK could rofl a 26k crit combined between scourge strikes melee and spell damage components.

i tanked Uk as a 72 DK blood spec 16k hp in frost presence all you need, frost presence not frost spec, dum nubs.

blood tank here, with talents in the first tier mitigation talents of frost and unholy.

Tanked All raids out so far as MT, done an average 1900dps as tank.

As i mentioned, im blood spec, and its doing wonders, the wampyric blood raises hp by 35% and healing by 50%, which gets my hp up to 45k when i got raid buffs, and with glyphs wamp blood lasts 30 secounds...

that means i can use it half a minute every minute, tell me thats no good for tanking...

Blood is as viable as any other spec to tank

Every specc is tanking since:

Blood has self healing effects and make it imba to be a tank.

Frost is good armor for tanking and massive aoe damage beacouse of howling blast and lots of armor beacouse of toughness and unbreable amor.

Unholy reduces alot of dmg too beacouse of bone armor and beacouse they have nice pets to back up.

And ill rather choose frost for pvp beacouse its massive dmg and beacouse it gives an extra armor so you can survive easier vs melee target Regard me

Yes i have and acctually i didnt loose much hp beacouse of all the self healing and when a person is healing you too, then its hard to gett low hp:

Rune tap, improved rune tap, mark of blood, blood aura, and the one where you get 6% healed of your total hp when you get honor or xp from a mob/char, and the bloodworms. so its pretty hard to get low hp when your get healed too, and you just gotta learn how to tank with blood too.

PS: i'd have toughness too beacouse of more armor. But still blood

also you can get resistance from frost tree. something like 60 for each (atleast on my low level dk)

yeah every spec works as tank, ive tanked ramparts as unholy at level 62 (yeah low lvl), i kept aggro good and bone shield ftw.

Unholy is the prime Pvp spec, frost is great to, blood isnt so good because its single target dps, But in raids, Unholy is really good to because of their AoE dps. And Unholy puts up a constant stream of dps. So unholy can be great for raids also.

Ive hit over 7k with scourge strike at lvl 80 with the 2h mace the jawbone. Djifix if u only hit a max of 700 crit with scourge ur a major fail. The attack u are probably thinking of is plague strike cause it doesnt hit very hard but puts a disease on the target.

Sadly, not at all. It's just a normal melee strikes that inflicts a disease... I'm pretty sure it's a bug, since it's impossible to crit that high at that level with instant cast and with such a sucky skill. Tbh, it might have been obliterate but then again, still doesn't do those crits... I've done a max of 700 crit with scourge strike on my level 64 DK, and she uses a 2H.

If you want mainly single DPS, like attacking 1 mob at a time, then blood would be the perfect choice with it's massive self-heals and DPS output. Yet blood is only good for that. When it comes to PvP or AoE in raids or groups, you will not do so well. In PvP, blood is easy to kite and in groups, not so high DPS as could be with Unholy.

So I personally debated with myself on the same question, but chose unholy because it covers PvP and massive AoE very well compared with Blood. I could take on 10 mobs at a time, and kill everyone with the help of my ghoul and many AoE spells.

Unholy DK here as well. Level 69 atm, and I gotta say, I love unholy to death. The pet does a good bit of damage and really comes in handy, I can single target dps+aoe grind and tank as well. Frost will pull better threat and take less, but I bring my own benefits when I tank as well, such as my increases to SD and extra diseases. Unholy ftw. :)

Well Scourge strike is back to doing decent damage now. Nothing like before, but when I did this video it was out of control. Blood is also very viable as Klobernoger posted below. I've been running blood spec for a while and just recently switch back to Unholy. I don't go all the way to 51 pts in blood though because I don't really like the 51 pt talent I don't like it very much.

imo Blood is an awesome way to lvl now, the damage is good, the healing lets you solo MANY elites. Ok sure you cant AOE grind like unholy but I think blood is a lot more fun

I was 51 unholy at the time of filming this. Now, I'm trying out frost spec since I haven't tested it in a long time. They nerfed the damage on Death Knights quite a bit a few builds ago, but it is back up to reasonable levels now. I should take some new videos soon.

He's unholy. Which from my experience is the highest damage dealing spec until we get nerfed. You can put out some solid crits being frost spec as well.

Indeed. I've tried out all the specs, but Unholy seems to be the most solid spec for quick leveling. Frost does get very high crits and they are easier to control and less luck based.
