@littleeva I know, most people can't get past the face. But I find him attractive. He really wants a family, and it is really sad. But honestly, I can see myself marrying him.
Oh okay. And yet here you are enjoying life, instead of complaining about your condition and saying "is it all worth it?" And yet that's exactly what 'average' people do, most of the time. Well the ones I seem to bump into. Good on you, your an inspiration rememeber that :) Exactly the attitude my mother took when she got breast cancer, I believe it helped her beat the damn thing. And you are a very funny lady, you be a cool mother :) You made me smile today!!!
@ViceCityVacation I did suffer from depression for a while, but I had two strokes and that made me realise life was too short to sit and whine. I fought back, recovered better than the docs said I would and I love life now....or rather I love to laugh at it. Your mother sounds a very cool lady. Well, I certainly like to leave people laughing and I'm glad I made you smile - it's better for the wrinkles. ;O)
Of course you lady's would jump all over him...."Ohhhh he's sooo sweet!!!" That's because, despite that mask he is still a relatively attractive fellow. What if he looked like David Letterman's and Michelle Obama's love child, plus the mask? Hmmmmm? What then? HUH!!! WHAT THEN!!! No seriously cause if he still had a chance, well then there's hope for me yet!!! Hey? Yes? What.....oh.....okay I'll just sit here in the dark then. Yep, just the darkness and my fun old self. *TEAR**SNIFF*
@ViceCityVacation Sorry, but for me it's the person's character and personality more than their looks. Looks fade over time, so they're not that important to me. Richard Harrow is a lonely, sad and damaged man - he so desperately wants someone to love and I think that's what attracts us females. So if you're like him then yeah - you've still got a chance. So dry those tears and GET BACK OUT THERE. ;O)
@ViceCityVacation Ah, sadly I can't speak for the whole female population - I can unfortunately say there are MANY shallow gals out there that make a raindrop on the pavement seem deep. So, you know, pick and choose your targets wisely. As a geek I would suggest geek girls are good. :O>
@Tracy137 Are you asking me out??? Sorry I've been out of the date game too long....lol. Joking. You sound like a very nice person, that's refreshing. BTW I consider myself a geek as well....or maybe a nerd. Wit which one loves just videogames and movies, but isn't super-smart and deep into bio-chemistry & stuff??? BTW are you single : )-
@ViceCityVacation actually I'm happily married; I'll be rooting for you in the dating game though, us geeks have to stick together right? ;O) Not nice, just not as shallow as some and a lot more realistic than others(but then I'm hardly a victoria beckham myself; more like a female quasimodo, only with a wheelchair). lol. No, never a nerd; ALWAYS a geek. nerds are super-smart and deeply into the science stuff.
@Tracy137 Well he 'is' a very lucky fellow indeed, your guy. That's teriffic, that you are happy and that you are making someone else happy. That's what life is meant be.....complete. And by the sounds of it yours is. :) I know I'll get someone for mein the end, I just like to kid around a bit. After all, what is life, without a bit of fun? BTW may I inquire, if it's not upsetting you, about the wheelchair? :) What's the reason for it? You don't have to tell me, if you don't want.
@ViceCityVacation well, you're sweet and very kind. :O) I LOVE to kid around, keeps me sane(ish). I don't mind talking about my wheels. The wheelchair is my friend, as I have severe arthritis and walking is.....difficult. Think of a penguin on speed - my family even sing the pingu theme (it's on here I think)....VERY funny. rofl. Still if you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at? Besides I have fun with my wheels; oh the stories I could tell. ;O)
@Tracy137 Tracy, I've been reading your comments and your so full of shit just like most girls. One of the things about television is that it entertains and enthralls the masses with FICTION and FANTASY.
All these squealing fan girls who say they love Richard Harrow would never, NEVER give a real life Richard Harrow the time of day and so those real life Richard Harrows live out silent, desperate lives devoid of any love or affection from women.
@Delta0prative Actually I'm not full of anything, what I said is what I would do. I am also NOT a 'girl' and haven't been for a while; I'm a 46 year old mother. However, I AM ugly; I always have been and so I know to look beyond the superficial. If I met Richard Harrow I would certainly befriend him if he would let me. If I was single I would like to be able to love him. I know what it's like, from bitter experience, to have people reject you because of the way you look.
@Tracy137 Don't worry about that 'fella' , you are not UGLY trace, you 'are' very BEAUTIFUL. And even so just because of how you have socially interacted with me and others. A very gentle, kind and warm-hearted, selflessly giving mother, wife and person. Your community would, or at least should, be greatful you live alongside them. Same with your country. Cause I know, deep down, the world IS very greatful you exist. I bet you're Hubby, thinks you're hot ;)
@ViceCityVacation Jesus man, you sound like such a lapdog. You don't even know who this "Tracy" person is or even know what she/he looks like, yet there you are being such a kiss ass.
"and even so just because of how you have socially interacted with me and others..."
WTF? Socially interacted? writing comments to each other via YouTube counts as socializing now? Man you must seriously lack a REAL social life.
@Delta0prative I'm not sure why you're attacking everyone with such hatred. I understand that perhaps you've had a damaging experience in your life; but so have a lot of people (myself included), and we don't let that spill over to other people who've not done you any harm. Please, think before you 'speak'; you're comments are as hurtful to us as you claim others are to the Richard Harrows in the world. You don't know us, so please do not judge us.
@Delta0prative You don't know what YOU'RE talking about and you just made yourself sound uneducated and ignorant. Leave Tracy alone for chrissakes what did she ever do to you? How the fuck do you know who we would and would not fall in love with? I can tell from your "just like most girls" comment that you're bitter and angry toward women in general; I'm sorry for whatever made you this resentful, but please don't insult others because of it.
@kkarls1 Thank you for sticking up for me, but not to worry I don't get angry because....well, actually I can't. lol. But they do sound as if they were hurt very much by someone; it would explain their attitude. Perhaps they've an impairment and someone said it wouldn't matter, but then it did. I should say I also root for Erik in Phantom of the Opera (book); again someone facially disfigured and discarded because of it - of course in that case it also sent him a bit psychotic.
@Tracy137 S'ok lady, I just can't stand when people make such ignorant statements and attack others for no reason. Me too, I love the Phantom! I've probably seen Phantom of the Opera close to 10 times lol, and the book is also excellent. He did go a little over the edge, but boy, he was talented!
@kkarls1 I understand your anger as I too find such comments hurtful and unnecessary, but I feel sorry for this person as I can only wonder if they've suffered a lot because of something similar to the character we're discussing. As for Erik, yes he was very definitely a little over the edge, but his operas were stunning; the man was a genius. Sad that he wasted his love on the shallow Christine Daaé.
@Tracy137 I've always been quick to anger; I have a bit of a short fuse, like my father. I suppose if I think about it, I feel sorry for this person too; it must be exhausting to hate all women. Hating people takes up a lot of energy. It's interesting that you describe Christine Daae as shallow, because I've never heard her described as such, but honestly, she really was. It always drove me crazy that she did not return Erik's love, when he clearly had the deepest feelings for her.
@kkarls1 Are you talking about me? Because if you are then let me say once again that I don't hate women. I just call out bullshit when it derserves to be called out on and I refuse to take the soma pills...
@Delta0prative How do you *know* what we're saying is 'bullshit'? You don't know us and so you really can't say with such certainty how we would react to things. So we *don't* 'deserve to be called out' for bullshit we're *not* speaking. It is only your *opinion* that we are, *not* a *fact*. Please be more respectful in your comments otherwise you're only guilty of behaving in the way you judge others for, and that's hardly making your point for you.
@kkarls1 I used to be the same, but two strokes put paid to that - brain damage means if I get upset now I can't speak. makes arguments very one sided, lol. Exactly why I try not to hate anyone; it never bothers them and you only end up wasting your own life (a double win for the bad guy you could say). I've always though Daaé was so shallow from the time I first read the book age 8; Erik loved her *so* much and she went running after the pathetic Raoul.
@Tracy137 I always disliked Raoul too!! Like, even when I was 7 and saw the opera for the first time, I was so MAD when she didn't choose the phantom. I basically wanted Raoul out of the picture from the get-go, haha, and I hardly even knew what love was. You've had two strokes, that has got to be a challenge. I'm a nurse, and while I don't work on a stroke flooor, I can appreciate what that does to your body and mind. I think your philosophy on life is fantastic (don't hate, etc).
@kkarls1 Sorry for the delay in replying; I had a couple of hospital appointments. Likewise, I've disliked Raoul right from the first time I read the novel aged 8. He was such a shallow little individual that I couldn't take to him and was willing Daaé to choose Erik; of course she didn't and I cried. As for my strokes; well I have a little brain damage from the second, but I'm alive so I'm better off than a lot of people. That's how I feel about all my health stuff though.
@kkarls1 "How the fuck do you know who we would and would not fall in love with?"
Because I know from first hand experience that the exceptions are not the rule and most women I've met wouldn't give the average looking schmuck a second look so all this rubbish from you and Tracy is just that--rubbish. When was the last time you went on a date with a scarred/disfigured man? Probably never.
@Delta0prative Ha, right, because you know so much about me. You're not worth my time. And I'm not "most women" that you've met; you know nothing about me, nor who "my type" of guy is. Certainly not someone like you; I abhor ignorance.
@kkarls1 Hahah I never said I knew lot about you. But I know enough about this thing called reality to know that in all likelihood you don't practice in real life what you reach on YouTube. That's why it's called GENERALIZING. Go back to school will ya
Oh and I certainly MUST be worthy of your time if you took the time to respond to my comment :/
@kkarls1 You're a good 'neighbour' for doing that!!! Top marks :) If only I could have seen you aid in her defence in real life, I wish more people would, it would make me confident about the human race again. But still, I applaud Maam or Girl. Sorry don't know which one, I don't want to offend. Sorry, my Military is showing. LOL
@ViceCityVacation Aw, thanks :) Haha Ma'am, Miss, or whatever works, I'm 25 so I tend to still get "Miss." :) Well, it just bothers me when I see others needlessly attacking people, and I was having a nice discussion with Tracy about the show and other things, and I don't like to see someone just come in and start rudely attacking for no reason. It's childish and ignorant. I appreciate people who have a good head on their shoulders :)
@kkarls1 My pleasure, Miss. I'll use Miss, seeing as you still have your youth and beauty ;) Continue your discussion, I'm sure you two are keeping up an interesting chat and giving eachother positive vibes. Forget about that putz, I'll scare him off if he keeps that up!!! And nice to see you have a good taste in Literature and Film :)
@ViceCityVacation You're awesome :) Haha, already forgot about him, don't worry, but it's nice to have a protector. I see people get very vicious with each other on YouTube, (naturally because it's a lot easier to shoot barbs at a person from behind a computer screen rather than face to face) and it's always an interesting puzzle to say the least :P
@kkarls1 Hahaha you're absoutely right. Isn't funny with youtube? You could be watching a video on candy apple making and next you're talking to 2 or 3 others about life, sports, careers, love, houses, books. Sometimes everything else but candy apple making. Makes me smile :)
@Delta0prative Comeon buddy, no need for that. Let's all get along. Haven't we learned anyting from WW1, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan? No? How bout the Bobbit's? Tracy137 or whoever she is in real life, sounds very nice and excepting. We are not all perfect, God knows I'm not, but we just have to except some people we will get along with. Some we won't. It's all part of this big game of life. And if you have something you'll believe will stop alot of women in being.....
@ViceCityVacation .....excepting or physically interested in you, well then they are obviously not for you. Just deal with it and move on. I've had to deal with alot worse shit in life then wether or not a "Chick wants to f@#k me." Alot worse and I moved on, as would about another 2.whatever billion men who have. But stop with the unpleasantness fella, it makes you seem like a little bo, unless that is what you are??? Hmmmm.....
@Delta0prative Admittedly I've never dated anyone with scars, but that's because I've not gone actively seeking them out - that would be disturbed. The only scarred person I knew was female; though we were very good friends. I'm sorry that you feel the way you do; but you cannot judge us by the women you've met - you don't know us so can hardly be so certain of what we'd do. I can only assure you that I would *never* dismiss the friendship/love of another because of their looks.
@Delta0prative I should add that being disabled myself and using a wheelchair when I go out, along with the abuse this brings on me (from the elderly of all people), it's only added to my feeling that people should never judge others on what they look like. I've been told I'm a wast of space, I shouldn't be allowed out and shoved out of the way all by complete strangers - so please *don't* judge me the way others do, for then you're as bad as the people you speak of with such hatred.
@ViceCityVacation hahaha, that was funny. I do think he us attractive, but I don't like how he, you know. Slaughters people. Its not exactly a quality I look for in men....You have to remember that this is TV and your probably have way more of a chance then a fictional character.
@kkarls1 : I completely agree; I think if he could find a woman who treated him with respect and who could love him you would see a different side to him. Of course God help anyone who threatened her, because I think that side of him that *is* brutal would want to protect her above everything. But my feelings for him stem from his abject loneliness; it's like......he radiates it or something; I find him very sad actually.
@Tracy137 You're right; we would see a different side to him. I think we saw flashes of that side during certain interactions he had with Margaret and Angela; he opened himself up to them just the slightest bit at certain points, allowed emotion to show. But really, most of the time, he just goes through the motions of living. Of course, he has so much post-traumatic stress (people didn't know about it back then!:/) so I can only imagine what goes on in his head.
@kkarls1 Apparently it's been said this week that there's going to be a lot more Richard Harrow in S3. I hope they show a softer side to him, perhaps let him find a woman who would not judge him on the way he looks. If they coupled that with the harsher side of him (with the way kills those he's against), or even show him out of control defending the woman, then I think it would be interesting. Certainly he seems to be a lot of people's favourite character, not just ours.
@Tracy137 Oh cool, I'm all for more of Richard in season 3, both in kill-mode and soft-mode haha. Most of the people I watch the show with have either Jimmy or Richard as a favorite. Poor Jimmy :/
@kkarls1 Likewise; I was very happy to hear that I must say. lol. I was surprised about Jimmy though. I had wondered if it might happen, but then I doubted it because he was such a huge character in the show. I suppose it proves that no one's safe. However, for me Richard Harrow's been my favourite since he appeared; I just hope they don't do the same to him too. :O(
@Tracy137 I was surprised about Jimmy too :P If they kill off Richard, I'll probably cry. They need to stop killing off main characters, or Nucky and Margaret are going to be the only ones left, and who the hell wants to watch a show with just them in it?
@kkarls1 Completely agree; I understand the writers are trying to be edgy and keep everyone on their toes (especially the viewers). But if they keep killing off main characters then the actually story telling of the show is going to be reduced to the point of using ludicrous plot lines to keep it going, and no one wants that. Nor do I, as you said, want to watch a show about Nucky and the whining Margaret.
@kkarls1 I'm sorry but I really don't like her; I just have this urge to slap her all the time. It was her choice to be with Nucky, she could leave him; but instead she's all frowny and petulent, with that whiny voice that's like a cat scratching a blackboard to me. If they ended up with just her and Nucky then, as much as I love Steve Buscemi, I would ditch this show so fast it'd make your eyes water.
I dunno what rich is gonna do with the only two people who understood him dead... I love this guy i hop he gets a badass moment and rages on horvitz face then pisses on his grave as well as his mother and fathers over in scottland or wherever the fuck horvitz is from
@Scarpdaddyballs Scotland? Really? You're.....joking right? Horvitz? Scottish? Sure you don't wan't to re-tract that? Hahahaha just breakin' ya balls!!! *AHEM* Scottland has only one 't' in it though. Sco-t-land.
I think Richard is so sweet, yes he may be a hit man but he isn't evil he just disassociates when he kills, he is so adorable and vulnerable, I want to marry him <3
You have to choose between suffering and boredom. Commend Mr. Harrow for choosing to live the life of suffering, even when most with his kind of injury would be satisfied living a life of boredom.
@faboul467 noo the actor who plays richard is really gorgeous and it doesn't matter if Richard hims self had scares his beauty still shines through. I don't understand how women cannot see it. I mean yes it's jarring to see at first but even Jimmy's wife got used to the scares. IF you actually sit and talk with him you won't even notice them anymore because you paying attention him as a man. Every one is flawed!!! At least he got them from fighting for his country. :) I stan for Jim and Rich!!
such a tragic character. the depth of character on boardwalk empire is astounding. there's so many sublteties explored on this show, til its often gut-wrenching. every character is compelling , no matter how insignificant. nucky, the commodore, his maid, richard harrow, chalky , the klansan, eli, everybody is fucking brilliant. hbo's series are top notch stuff but this show is far beyond most anything you can watch on a screen of any size.
@Lehmann108 I do too! I think he deserves to find a women that will love him, Richard looked at Jimmy when his wife had put food on their plates and looked at her and than said " How does it feel to have everything?" Richard is not seeking fame or fortune, he just wants human connection:-) Maybe he will also reconnect with his sister:-)
Richard kind of scares me a little bit. Not his face, but his sometimes detachment from humanity. I do love him though. Jimmy and Richard. Favorite characters.
The saddest thing about Richard is that there were thousands of young men after WWI who were physically and/or psychologically destroyed. They probably felt just like Harrow in this scene and could never live a 'normal' life :'(
This scene made me nervous. I think Harrow is an amazingly compelling character and the fact that hes Jimmy's right hand man and he obviously trusts him. but this coupled with him asking Jimmy 'how it feels to have everything' makes me a bit nervous that we could see Harrow turn on his friend.
@bodlive08 I was too! I didn't expect to see this. Even the question he made to Jimmy earlier in the episode, "What does it feel like to have everything?"
You can sort of know he is longing for a relationship or normalcy when he has that dream running on the beach with Odette, but this scene goes so much deeper into that desire for a family. Richard is obviously a dangerous man, but only when he has to be. I've yet to see a random, pointless killing committed by him.
@kakowb00sh One of the best written. He is not constructed as a sideline, by events, but by the insights about him and the brilliance of his portrayal. he is the possibility of devastated ww1 vets, and you're right, our sympathy for him is tempered by his unmitigated willingness towards brutality.
@TheBrewchief I look at it like this - I don't think Richard is inherently brutal. I think he's a damaged (emotionally and otherwise) man that was left with nothing after the war. Jimmy comes up to him out of nowhere to be his friend and to solidify that friendship - presumably the only relationship he has now, we don't really know - he agreed to do this horrible thing. I think there's no limit to what he would do for someone he cared about. Murder included. It's a bromance of epic proportions.
When you give someone something that's badly-wanted and tangible, they owe you a debt that's quantifiable
When you give someone something that's badly-wanted and INtangible...the debt is unquantifiable, and often only solidifies with the reciprocation. Every job they do together kind of reinforces their camaraderie in a weird, bloody ceremony; the nature of their work is secretive, which only solidifies the bro'ness even more. Richard WELL loves Jimmy lol

Tracy137 1 month ago
@Tracy137 I've always been quick to anger; I have a bit of a short fuse, like my father. I suppose if I think about it, I feel sorry for this person too; it must be exhausting to hate all women. Hating people takes up a lot of energy. It's interesting that you describe Christine Daae as shallow, because I've never heard her described as such, but honestly, she really was. It always drove me crazy that she did not return Erik's love, when he clearly had the deepest feelings for her.
kkarls1 1 month ago
@kkarls1 Are you talking about me? Because if you are then let me say once again that I don't hate women. I just call out bullshit when it derserves to be called out on and I refuse to take the soma pills...
Delta0prative 1 month ago
@Delta0prative RIght. go away.
kkarls1 1 month ago
@Delta0prative How do you *know* what we're saying is 'bullshit'? You don't know us and so you really can't say with such certainty how we would react to things. So we *don't* 'deserve to be called out' for bullshit we're *not* speaking. It is only your *opinion* that we are, *not* a *fact*. Please be more respectful in your comments otherwise you're only guilty of behaving in the way you judge others for, and that's hardly making your point for you.
Tracy137 1 month ago
@kkarls1 I used to be the same, but two strokes put paid to that - brain damage means if I get upset now I can't speak. makes arguments very one sided, lol. Exactly why I try not to hate anyone; it never bothers them and you only end up wasting your own life (a double win for the bad guy you could say). I've always though Daaé was so shallow from the time I first read the book age 8; Erik loved her *so* much and she went running after the pathetic Raoul.
Tracy137 1 month ago
@Tracy137 I always disliked Raoul too!! Like, even when I was 7 and saw the opera for the first time, I was so MAD when she didn't choose the phantom. I basically wanted Raoul out of the picture from the get-go, haha, and I hardly even knew what love was. You've had two strokes, that has got to be a challenge. I'm a nurse, and while I don't work on a stroke flooor, I can appreciate what that does to your body and mind. I think your philosophy on life is fantastic (don't hate, etc).
kkarls1 1 month ago
@kkarls1 Sorry for the delay in replying; I had a couple of hospital appointments. Likewise, I've disliked Raoul right from the first time I read the novel aged 8. He was such a shallow little individual that I couldn't take to him and was willing Daaé to choose Erik; of course she didn't and I cried. As for my strokes; well I have a little brain damage from the second, but I'm alive so I'm better off than a lot of people. That's how I feel about all my health stuff though.
Tracy137 1 month ago
@kkarls1 "How the fuck do you know who we would and would not fall in love with?"
Because I know from first hand experience that the exceptions are not the rule and most women I've met wouldn't give the average looking schmuck a second look so all this rubbish from you and Tracy is just that--rubbish. When was the last time you went on a date with a scarred/disfigured man? Probably never.
Delta0prative 1 month ago
@Delta0prative Ha, right, because you know so much about me. You're not worth my time. And I'm not "most women" that you've met; you know nothing about me, nor who "my type" of guy is. Certainly not someone like you; I abhor ignorance.
kkarls1 1 month ago

LOL
ViceCityVacation 1 month ago
@ViceCityVacation Aw, thanks :) Haha Ma'am, Miss, or whatever works, I'm 25 so I tend to still get "Miss." :) Well, it just bothers me when I see others needlessly attacking people, and I was having a nice discussion with Tracy about the show and other things, and I don't like to see someone just come in and start rudely attacking for no reason. It's childish and ignorant. I appreciate people who have a good head on their shoulders :)
kkarls1 1 month ago
@kkarls1 My pleasure, Miss. I'll use Miss, seeing as you still have your youth and beauty ;) Continue your discussion, I'm sure you two are keeping up an interesting chat and giving eachother positive vibes. Forget about that putz, I'll scare him off if he keeps that up!!! And nice to see you have a good taste in Literature and Film :)

@ViceCityVacation You're awesome :) Haha, already forgot about him, don't worry, but it's nice to have a protector. I see people get very vicious with each other on YouTube, (naturally because it's a lot easier to shoot barbs at a person from behind a computer screen rather than face to face) and it's always an interesting puzzle to say the least :P
kkarls1 1 month ago

ViceCityVacation 1 month ago
@ViceCityVacation .....excepting or physically interested in you, well then they are obviously not for you. Just deal with it and move on. I've had to deal with alot worse shit in life then wether or not a "Chick wants to f@#k me." Alot worse and I moved on, as would about another 2.whatever billion men who have. But stop with the unpleasantness fella, it makes you seem like a little bo, unless that is what you are??? Hmmmm.....
ViceCityVacation 1 month ago

Tracy137 1 month ago
@ViceCityVacation hahaha, that was funny. I do think he us attractive, but I don't like how he, you know. Slaughters people. Its not exactly a quality I look for in men....You have to remember that this is TV and your probably have way more of a chance then a fictional character.

Awwww RIchard....I love him. Seriously? WTF is wrong with women back then, if I was alive in the 1920s I'd pounce all over him, tin mask or not.
kkarls1 2 months ago 3
@kkarls1 : I completely agree; I think if he could find a woman who treated him with respect and who could love him you would see a different side to him. Of course God help anyone who threatened her, because I think that side of him that *is* brutal would want to protect her above everything. But my feelings for him stem from his abject loneliness; it's like......he radiates it or something; I find him very sad actually.
Tracy137 1 month ago
@Tracy137 You're right; we would see a different side to him. I think we saw flashes of that side during certain interactions he had with Margaret and Angela; he opened himself up to them just the slightest bit at certain points, allowed emotion to show. But really, most of the time, he just goes through the motions of living. Of course, he has so much post-traumatic stress (people didn't know about it back then!:/) so I can only imagine what goes on in his head.
kkarls1 1 month ago
@kkarls1 Apparently it's been said this week that there's going to be a lot more Richard Harrow in S3. I hope they show a softer side to him, perhaps let him find a woman who would not judge him on the way he looks. If they coupled that with the harsher side of him (with the way kills those he's against), or even show him out of control defending the woman, then I think it would be interesting. Certainly he seems to be a lot of people's favourite character, not just ours.
Tracy137 1 month ago
@Tracy137 Oh cool, I'm all for more of Richard in season 3, both in kill-mode and soft-mode haha. Most of the people I watch the show with have either Jimmy or Richard as a favorite. Poor Jimmy :/
kkarls1 1 month ago
@kkarls1 Likewise; I was very happy to hear that I must say. lol. I was surprised about Jimmy though. I had wondered if it might happen, but then I doubted it because he was such a huge character in the show. I suppose it proves that no one's safe. However, for me Richard Harrow's been my favourite since he appeared; I just hope they don't do the same to him too. :O(
Tracy137 1 month ago
@Tracy137 I was surprised about Jimmy too :P If they kill off Richard, I'll probably cry. They need to stop killing off main characters, or Nucky and Margaret are going to be the only ones left, and who the hell wants to watch a show with just them in it?
kkarls1 1 month ago
@kkarls1 Completely agree; I understand the writers are trying to be edgy and keep everyone on their toes (especially the viewers). But if they keep killing off main characters then the actually story telling of the show is going to be reduced to the point of using ludicrous plot lines to keep it going, and no one wants that. Nor do I, as you said, want to watch a show about Nucky and the whining Margaret.
Tracy137 1 month ago
@Tracy137 Haha right? Margaret and the one and only expression she ever has in the world; the eyebrows creased, eyes wide "Woe is me," look. LMAO.
kkarls1 1 month ago
@kkarls1 I'm sorry but I really don't like her; I just have this urge to slap her all the time. It was her choice to be with Nucky, she could leave him; but instead she's all frowny and petulent, with that whiny voice that's like a cat scratching a blackboard to me. If they ended up with just her and Nucky then, as much as I love Steve Buscemi, I would ditch this show so fast it'd make your eyes water.

This scene made me nervous. I think Harrow is an amazingly compelling character and the fact that hes Jimmy's right hand man and he obviously trusts him. but this coupled with him asking Jimmy 'how it feels to have everything' makes me a bit nervous that we could see Harrow turn on his friend.

aww, poor Richard. and the music is wonderful.
elvaelvirababe 4 months ago
@bodlive08 I was too! I didn't expect to see this. Even the question he made to Jimmy earlier in the episode, "What does it feel like to have everything?"
You can sort of know he is longing for a relationship or normalcy when he has that dream running on the beach with Odette, but this scene goes so much deeper into that desire for a family. Richard is obviously a dangerous man, but only when he has to be. I've yet to see a random, pointless killing committed by him.

kakowb00sh 5 months ago
@kakowb00sh One of the best written. He is not constructed as a sideline, by events, but by the insights about him and the brilliance of his portrayal. he is the possibility of devastated ww1 vets, and you're right, our sympathy for him is tempered by his unmitigated willingness towards brutality.
TheBrewchief 4 months ago in playlist Liked 4
@TheBrewchief I look at it like this - I don't think Richard is inherently brutal. I think he's a damaged (emotionally and otherwise) man that was left with nothing after the war. Jimmy comes up to him out of nowhere to be his friend and to solidify that friendship - presumably the only relationship he has now, we don't really know - he agreed to do this horrible thing. I think there's no limit to what he would do for someone he cared about. Murder included. It's a bromance of epic proportions.

@DaenerysStormborne You've got in one
