ahh, i get it :) Simple tokyo drift was set in the future. though FF 4 is not out yet it was set BEFORE TD, at the end of TD vin diesel says to the new drift king that han used to roll in american muscle with him! that was back in the usa before he more to his mexico a.k.a tokyo

put simply look at it like this as a sequence

FF 1 - 2F2F - FF4 - FF TOKYO DRIFT, thats how it should be :) han is not dead yet he dies in tokyo drift. hard to get the point across but its easy if you think about it :)

Han did die in TD, the story for FF4 is 5 years after the first FF movie, so it's before Tokyo Drift happened, as Han did explain Tokyo was like his Mexico so we could learn a bit about his past in this movie.
