  • i have to gameboy color!

  • holy shit dude - something like this IN NES?

  • wow!

  • I can't believe a company got away with this.

  • I had that game on the famicom. It was unfinished or it ended quite strangely for me.

  • Best ending ever

  • What the heck...?

  • was it me or did i see 2 "n" letters in the Snake stage?

  • @MovieguruThe there are two.. good job spottting.

  • Looks more like a GBC version of DKL2.

  • @WebVMan Except a GBC version of DKL2 would probably have taken its soundtrack directly from Donkey Kong Land 2, so we wouldn't have to put up with the mostly warblefest

  • OMG long ago memories I played this when i was 3 and still do at age 13. lol

  • Looks better than the GBC version of DKC

  • 3 levels? no wonder it looks so good for nes

  • It doesn't look or sound like anything on NES. It resembles more of what you would see on Gameboy Color.

  • where can i get the rom or cartridge if there exists one

  • I love how this game has been stripped down to it's bare essentials...yet it still has diddy kong's end level rap complete with boom box.

  • Do you have rom?

  • to be honest if I didn't hate 8 bit music so much xD this would have worked for me

but still thank god for SNES

  • nes had a lot of untapped power

  • 2:09 some michael jackson's moonwalker shit!

  • the title music reminds me of the music in charlie and the chocolate factory (2005)

  • Pirate game...with PIRATES yarharhar

  • It wasn't made by Higame but by Shin Shin Electronics in 1997.

  • great hack... judging by the limitations of Nes, it looks pretty good...

  • Only 3 levels?!

  • is there a rom i can get of this

  • Was this really an nes game..? or a pirated import the the NES? o.o

  • i wish i could do these things

  • Looks like what the ill fated GBC port would have been.

  • For everyone complaining about the sound and graphics, it's an NES game. This is pretty standard fare and actually a fair bit more colorful and vibrant than a lot of NES titles.

Only problem is that they didn't bother finishing this. I guess whoever made this just wanted a fun little challenge to amuse themselves. I'd say they did a pretty good job so far.

  • O.o i had this on my family

  • I was on 4:47 ,but never jumped

  • Geeze, this game looks worse than the Gameboy counterpart; for god's sake, the main map looks like a JPG image!

  • for a snes game its pretty good ^^

  • lol at 2:49

  • i was playing this on a website named virtual nes lol, i wanted to get to the lava land but i guess theres only 3 lvls. =/

  • there was a dkc2 remake for the gbc i played that but what is this poop

  • impressive music & graphic 4 the nes!

  • reminds me good childhood memories.

  • For a NES game, and specially for a pirate game, this is extremely well-made.

  • those walking pirate kremlings sound like the pokemon "thud" sound when you it moves xD

  • hey the music is not as bad as you say!

  • I've played that pirate. It's pretty good for what it is.

  • jajajaja retro =)

  • the music sounds nice for nes

  • 2:50 FAIL????

  • if anyone says the graphics/audio of this is better than NES, look at Kirby's Adventure... Looks almost like a early SNES title, because it came out late in the NES gen.

  • omg its cool!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It looks extremely good for an nes game. The music is really good as well.

  • Congratulations on demonstrating your categorical ignorance about both systems.

Both of them use 2D sprites, and Rare's games were no exception. After the models were rendered, they were flattened to a orthographic view and converted to 2D sprites rather than just being hand drawn from scratch like most sprite work was done.

Don't bother bringing up Star Fox or Mode 7 games for comparison, because 3D at as high a level of detail as the DKC series would kill the SNES.

  • Just setting people straight is all. Know your roots, and all that sentimental bs. Don't be hatin' bro.

  • amazing, this looks harder than the snes version, i'd like play this

  • dixie???

  • dixie dosent apear remember it was a pirated game so its not like the SNES version no dixie though

  • Looks amazing for a nes game.

  • I like how this pirate looks.

Wait a minute... No I don't. This is the shittiest pirate ever.

  • What an ending. Game over screen with THE END. Yaaaaay.

  • Where is Dixie? o.O

  • Read discreption,duh

  • Do you still have the link to the site where you found it?

  • hahah the sound fx sound funny on the sliding things

  • OMG Look at 2:49 is the title screen but half nes half snes

  • Ok horrible sound and really depressing ending indeed - not to speak of three levels only - if this were original version by rare this would suck. But as a pirated its pretty good... And for nes.

  • ROFL

Why did diddy kong turn into a snake?

The head almost looked like yoshi's head...

  • have you never played the original SNES version? you can jump in a Snake barrel which allows you play as a snake

  • i would actually play this

  • Lol Amazing

The First Level was Pirate Panic

The Second Level was Mainbrace Mayhem

and The Third Level was Rattle Battle

  • This game is no worse than the Game Boy version (Donkey Kong Land II).

It's neat how they make games 'NES' style. 5 stars! :D

  • dnkey kong land games arent bad,you cant judge game just because of their graphic

  • parece play 1

  • Downgraded version of a game, interesting idea.

  • Ok guys, am I misssing something, or there were no DK barrels whatsoever, the game had just three leveles and the third level was Rattle Battle from Krem Quay?

    still, amazing job.

  • 2.10 LOL XD

  • wow! good graphics!

  • It looks and sounds like the old gameboy version of this game except with color.

  • the song Quality is ALOT Better than the Donkey Kong Country 1 Pirate for the nes.

  • What the hell is at 2:49...

  • Lol!

It looks like that the game's requirements really stress out the 8-bit poor NES' power.

  • "Klomp's Romp" and "Jib Jig" aren't that bad on the NES - I think "Welcome to Crocodile Isle" gave me a migraine though

  • you should do and mp3 of all the themes in this video, who else agrees?

  • If you want me to, I can 0_o

Message me and I'll get around to it when I can.

  • For NES, it's pretty good.

  • whiteechidna

not really. the NES had a lot of capabilities, it was really all a matter of how good the person composing the piece was, figuring out how to get the most out of 5 channels.

  • Yeah, i take my statement back. But still, it's still somewhat impressive.

  • I get headache of this song, really.. xD

  • it's pretty neat to see, though I think the "HD" graphics leave little room left in the cart for a bunch of levels

  • Some sounds are from punch-out!

  • 5 minutes!?

  • this isn't too bad for 8-bit nes. And WTF with the end wahah

  • Thats a little to good for the nes. I do recal seeing this game in Mexico. But it was a famicom cartige

  • It is a pirate.

  • no shit...

  • This is awesome!

  • So Diddy just goes on a very short quest just to get himself sent to the brig! XD Dixie was in the brig, but not on the quest! LOL!

  • Somebody need to hack this game so its Donkey Kong rescuing Diddy instead of Diddy rescuing Donkey Kong

  • Wow! Given the technical limitations of the hardware I'd say they did REALLY freakin' well. I never saw a game on nes that looked this good. The SNES version is by far the victor, but you can't deny they did a good job with what they had.

  • DIXIE! Nooooooo! Poor Dixie! :O

  • I am a big fan of the original DKC 2 but does anyone know where know where i can find this version? i went cfhworld but i can't find it

  • dont play this. its 3 levels it sucks the music sucks its just a sucky pirate. use an emulator and play the real snes one.

  • not to metion the ugly graphics

  • Those graphics are actually pretty decent for the Nes. The music quality is horrible though.

  • i know, the colors just look like someone puked on the poor monkeys.

  • The 8-Bit Music Rocks

  • Not too bad, it's on FireNES as well. Why is Rattle Battle on the first world?

  • because the piraters are retards who have never played the game and based the entire game off of three levels they prbably saw speedruns on.

  • I do play the original. I just want to check it out. that is all i want to do

  • anyone where i can download this game?

  • Where is dixie?

  • read the description.

  • It`s absolutely a MIDI

  • doesnt look to bad i mean its a good rip of gfx

  • i've played this. it's crap compared to the real DKC2, but the 8 bit music is always fun

  • HOLY SHIT 8 BIT SHIP DECK 2

    AWESOME

  • HiGame didnt even try. That was a depressing ending xd. What a way to change the plot from the SNES version.

  • It's strange how sometimes music can linger in the air... kinda scary.

  • What the hell is that thing at 2:49 supposed to be? lol

  • i THink Is The SNES Title Screen!

  • looks photoshopped tho lol part of the logo is the original US screen and part is the 'super donkey kong 2' screen

  • This Is A Reply To The Comments:What the hell is that thing at 2:49 supposed to be? lol from jeffamarie And: looks photoshopped tho lol part of the logo is the original US screen and part is the 'super donkey kong 2' screen from jeffamarie, Thats A Shake! The Left Part Is SNES And Right Part Is NES!

  • lol..... what possible could there be for taking a game on a great console and putting it on a crappier console?

  • what real person would rather play this then the real one

    anyone? k good

  • too bad there,s no halfway save point in the levels and even no dixie kong, also the physics and music & sound and the enemy,s shape sucks, also despites it,s good graphics, parts of all level details are simplified, and level 2 has bee reduced in size so you only could scroll above not left&richt.

  • I also noticed another difference: The banana bunches are worth 20, not 10.

  • Wow, they made another one of these for DKC2. . .

  • The music is not that bad! Especially for an 8 bit system! I actually danced to the music heard on the map.

  • isn't that simply Donkey Kong Land 2 for Gameboy Color (or better)? o__O

    it seems like...

  • agreed!

it might missed some songs and worse graphics (duh) but otherwise it's a solid port and close to the orginal.(for it's limits)

oh and Donkey Kong Land 2 is for game boy not color.

  • look the colors. ^_^

  • the character are very good for a nes version of course not the sond

  • Given that this is made on NES and it's blatant limitations, this is actually pretty well made. Compare it to other games on the NES. The graphics from the clip are obviously ported from the SNES, but to emulate the SNES gameplay near flawlessly (from the clip, there could be horrendous bugs) is pretty damn good. Had this originally been on the NES only, would you really be criticizing this game that badly?

  • yes, because no game on nes was three levels long. look at super mario bros 3

  • a few games only had three levels. but those were what we call shitty games. and those we forget about in recent history.

  • that ending is rofl-inducing. I finished the third level and then you instantly get thrown in jail. Wow, that's so amazing I *error* *reinsert logic*

  • where can i try this

  • -the music is always interruped by sound effects.

    -no bosses

    -no other worlds

-the end shows them locked up in a dungen. Yeah, that's a perfect way to end a game.

  • The only reason the music is interrupted by sound effects is because the NES only has 4 basic sound channels (5 for some games). This would also occur on some other NES games.

The main reason music is not interrupted for games on more advanced systems (like on the Super Nintendo) is because that had 8 different available "MIDI style" sound channels.

As the systems became newer (Playstation, N64, Dreamcast), there'd be more advanced, actual music, not little "beeps" & "boops" :p

  • hahaha this is the shittiest thing ever, I had a good laugh. how come there's a kinda rattle battle in the first world and how come u can finish a level with an animal:P

    XD

  • The detail level in stage 2 actually made me think of the Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers NES game.

  • lol omg so sad!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow this game is wow -No Dixie! One hit and you lose a life.

-No Continues! When dying, you always start from the beginning of the level.

-Banana Coins are there, but they don't do anything.

-Klobbers can be killed by jumping on them.

-Depressing game ending: The game over screen is shown with the text "The End" and the title music plays.

    -Only one animal buddy: Rattly.

    -Cartwheel jump does not work.

-You cannot move in between ropes

  • "The End" haha, thats a good one...

  • they get captured at the end? WTF???

  • yeah That is the most retarded ending ive ever seen in a game. They cant just get captured. there has to be a reason why they end up getting captured or it doesnt make any sense. what do you call the shitty excuse of a game?

  • thats pimp dude, what an awesome job, i congratulate you on that, and it plays soo smoothly

  • lol u call this improved?

  • yes i think he did...you've got to be shitting me

  • it's an improvement over the last NES bootleg. Not a improvement on the actual game

  • I kind of wander. If DKC is DKC4 on the NES,What is the first DKC for the NES?

  • DKC4 because they pirated it, not by nintendo....

  • Why they didn't do a direct port of the game boy version? it is because the NES can't handle the game boy version in color?

  • If they wanted to make an NES version, Why couldn't they just use a DKL engine and color it?

  • I imagine that would be extremely difficult to do.

  • They did it with DKC4.

  • They used the same partner system, they didn't "use the DKL engine and color it". It's a good idea... but it's a lot harder than it sounds :P

  • theres a dkc4 now?

    cosmic

  • NES pirate. The pirates always use numbers to confuse, like Sonic 4.

  • What is DKC4 i thought they only went up to dkc3..... plz tell me and where i can download it for emulator.... great Graphix.

  • Man u probably would have to have a lot of skill beat this. Graphics are awesome, music is good in some places, like diddy kongs rapping at the end of a stage, but in other places it sucks like the first lvl. Sound sucks for the most part. too short for anyone to come back and play it again.

So i would give this game a:

    Gameplay:5

    Graphics:10

    Sound:3

    Value:1

    Fun:6

    Overall:5

  • y remove dixie?

  • gimme the midi for the Intro i could make a beat outta that

  • i cant believe how hard i used to thing this game was haha! (:

id give much money to have a go of this game again, its awesome!

  • I'll stick with the usual DKC2 videos, not this one.

  • Wait, it's only three levels? Why would anyone buy it then?

  • when i play on the nes... i feel so limited. the thing was great in its time. but its not really good enough of doing anything. im not hating the nes, but you gotta admit, the thing is pretty limited!

  • well dude, u gotta consider the thing IS like 20 years old, man. of course its limited.

  • yeah thats true.

  • they should of used the music from donkey kong land 2...

  • Subliminal picture of DKC2 SNES and NES together.

  • so what if this game doesn't seem the same as the original? the sprites still looks decent than the actual NES sprites. i would prefer this game than some others, besides captain commando xP

  • the graphics are good like the colors, animations and details but there,re manny glitches like the enemy,s and you can see how everything,s builtup like the pilars etc.

    the controls are unreliable.

the music quality sucks but some sound effect,s are steel impressive like trowing a chest, hitting one enemy or grabbing bannana,s

  • This scares me.

  • This shit wreaks, where are the good videos at?

    REMOVED? FUCK this!

  • i love 8bit so
