It's not that complicated to explain. Humans like to feel "belonging". Apple gives them that, albeit with a very hefty unjustified price tag on top of it...

By belonging to a minority group of computer users, they feel like they belong to something "unique" and "exotic" and "exclusive." It fulfills a psychological need for them. This is the same thing religion does, which is why you see so many comparisons between Apple and cults.

First of all, I need to say I am specialized in field of marketing, so from that perspective I applaud Apple because they are doing their job perfectly. But from more subjective perspective, I hate the way they use their zombified users: for example, they make one version of a product without key features (for example, Ipad 1) competition has. Then they milk out the money from customers, and few months later, announce new version.

..competition. Also, when judging their products, I hate that they are build to "guide you through everyday like Apple has intended". Their is little to none customization and individuality, compared to others. You can see that huge percentage of Apple users are really becoming a cult of its sort. I actually read a story about a couple that was happy until the woman found out that the man did not love Apple, and she dumped him. I mean, come on..I have more, but need to go to bed:)

Overpriced bullshit. I can buy 2 laptops of the same specs for one of their shitty aluminium wafers. Yes the aluminum is nice, but it creates its' own problems, and it is NOT worth the extra price.

@BillOralRushRimjob I've used both Mac and PC daily for many years, and I still prefer to use Mac overall. Windows 7 is really quite good, but OS X Lion is likely to start changing the way we use our operating systems.

In my experience the overall build quality of Apple (and certainly not in all cases, just in general) is of a much higher standard. I have found that their products tend to last longer (again, not in all cases, just in general).

You can keep your cheap laptops.

apple does have a certain feel to its products..but i dont think its better than windows...and most laptops stay in goodshape couple of years before we need to change them..so i dont really see why macs are highly chargd? is there something i m missing?

@socratesaka - Macs rarely fail. They've always been that way. They used to be more distinct from PCs as they used RISC processors, and the Windows machines were using CISCs back then, now the chips are a bit more blended, but I don't think any x86s are pure RISCs (not the desktop, laptop, server classes I mean, but they release so many I might have missed a few).

These are good TV shows.
