I agree with mrinquisitive 2000 Giant Baba's build reminds me alot of El Gigante/Giant Gonzales's build, and we know how great a wrestler he was, NOT.
How did Johnny Ace help ruin the WWE? Did he ever even work there? I can't recall ever seeing him in Vince-Land. I remember he was 1/2 of the Dynamic Dudes(with another go-nowhere chump named Shane(Dean)Douglas),then went to Japan & became a star.
He's been working for WWE since 2001 and is head of talent relations. Responsible for a lot of Meatheads being called up. Did a ton of damage to Developmental.
Giant Baba may not have looked like much to some but he was one of the most beloved wrestlers and promoters in the wrestling business. He was one of the only few guys that Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody would sell for in the ring. (he was their boss after all) and when he died and his wife, Momoko (who is suspected of having a affair with Johnny Ace Laurunitis who has helped ruin WWE) took over in 2000, most of the AJPW aces such as Misawa and Jun Akiyama left to form Pro Wrestling NOAH.
I always loved the matches between these two. Two real shooters who could of had some great domestic matches if promoted right back in the day. Jack almost stretched more people than stu hart.
as a kid we used to almost fight over who would be Jack Brisco, which I almost always was because I could do the figure 4. i wrestled on the indy scene before I became disillusioned with the politics of the business but Mr. Brisco was one of the legends I patterned my style after. He is my all-time favorite wrestler even today. more style than substance today.
Thank you very much for posting these clips, I had always wanted to see this match. The first time I can remember hearing Jack referred to as a native American was around the time he came back to Australia for some early defences of his title in August/September 1973.
Over the last couple of years there have been some references to Bobo Brazil having won and lost the title in matches with Buddy Rogers in the early 1960s. I haven't seen any proof of that.
I think they meaning the old NWA brass preferred to have people under he impression that Brisco was white since he looked more caucasian than Native Amerian. As opposed to Wahoo he looked and was Indian.
my bad thats true, I keep forgetting Brisco as native american as they did not put the emphasis on his heritage until later on in his career after he was NWA Champ.
Shoehei "Giant" Baba's a true legend who created AJPW & won numerous titles including the NWA Title, he could actualy wrestle & died in 1999. So please show some respect

Now this was real wrestling 2 alltime legends! RIP Giant Baba! Did Baba ever wrestle Dory or Terry Funk or Ric Flair
styx4ever1963 2 years ago
Dory Jr wrestled against Baba in 1969, while Baba & Jumbo Tsutura had a few tag-team matches with both The Funk's during the late 1970's.

Giant Baba doesn't look like a wrestler.
mrinquisitive2000 3 years ago
That's because he looks like a LEGEND.
Which he is.

@MrWrestlingFan Baba was amazing, no doubt. But my favorite thing he ever did was give us Jumbo -- who is arguably the greatest ever.

You know Baba was the first Japanese wrestler to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship?
Capncrunch1 3 years ago
Yea in fact Baba was the first non-white man to be NWA World Heavyweight Champion and would have 3 reigns totally about 3 weeks.
