After seeing the year of the video, I would have to say, 2011, it's important for all to know, the Looxcie is out. And it is about $160 from start, depending on what you get and where, it is a lot more compact, it has applications to record directly to your iPod, or w/e you have. It is a little hard to keep on your ear (Kind of like a large Bluetooth, it also has that build in, btw) The looxie is great once you get used to it, I highly recommended it!
Why has nobody mentioned that you can plug a MIC directly into this unit. Isn't that a feature we all want. I like GO PRO but you can't plug a MIC into it. Which means more time editing. B&H video is selling this unit cheaper than anybody until 12/31 2010.
so i really like this because of being able to see while recording and looks easier to use than the gopro hd (since i no very little about cameras) but is it worth it? like how great is the go pro for a beginner? jw please answer
Haven't really read any of the comments but would you mind elaborating why you suggest the gopro hd instead? Is it because of the cost, or is the video it makes simply superior? I'm thinking of getting one or the other rather soon, I was leaning towards the vio just because of the small design.
@FeaturedProduct Ya thats what I figured, it's to bad because I really like the the sleak design of the vio and the way I could mount it on my goggles. Also the fact that you don't have to have someone help you turn it on everytime as well.
I wonder if vio is ever gonna catch up and offer HD anytime soon.
@FeaturedProduct I was looking into the Gopro Camera's but was turned off by their lack of a viewing screen and not having a remote not to mention they look so bulky mounted on a helmet.
What i prefer about this product than the go pro is the LCD screen and size of the item. I would use it for vlogging on a motorbike and this just seems so much better.
i be afraid of putting it on a skateboard cos if u fell i dont think it would do the camera much good but thats actually a really cool angle/place where u put it.
I like that you pointed out the price. Also was it raining that day? I thought he said he was going to get it wet. Just asking don't mean to upset anyone or thing.
Great product, great company, well supported and always improved. The thing is rugged and was built to military specifications. I have used this thing in some situations that would kill other cameras. Its tough!!! I have most of the other cameras out there and this is my go to camera most of the time. In the end, you get what you pay for with those other cameras. I am a fan of the VIO without reservation!! Check out some of my vid's and you will see beyond skiing and biking!!
I agree that it was a great product. Unfortunatly they are ignoring the market.
I sent an email to them to see if they were making a HD version as IMO that would be the best camera on the market. The reply was a flat NO. Afraid I had to go the GoproHD after that.
Also the separate DVR unit. Blah. Just something else I need to carry around. Its a good camera though, i have friends that have it, and they say it works great. Just not something for me though.
zoom907: This is the clearest recording unti on the market. the countour HD is less quality video, its just upscaled from 640x480. so even shittter quality.
@spadastunter Well, think of this, 1 year after your comment was made, the Looxcie is out, and it is pretty amazing, it is $160 and it is HD, it's kind of like a large Bluetooth and it has Bluetooth build into it. It is wireless, and can record directly to iPod or w/e you can get apps on. The only bad thing about the Looxcie is that it is a little confusing to keep from falling off your ear at first just takes a little getting used to. Honestly, the Looxcie outshines this thing in a lot of ways.
Tachyon ur not going to have Tons of wind being much of a factor and if you like the 200 price range but if u go for the pov i believe its like 600 or more but dont quote me on that
It is my understanding that standard high definition is 720, bluray quality definition is 1080. Like your high definition channels with cable are 720. I could be wrong but that is what I have been trained to tell customers buying high def TVs.
With the GoPro HD can you wear it on your head, like without a helmet?

@shaggytwodope666 much better quality, easier to mount(no cord to deal with), Shoot 60 fps (smooth slow mo's). And, it's cheaper.
GoPro's are a great cameras.

Blah. Wires are no good for me.
CycleMan2200 2 years ago
If you wanted this "form factor", but no wires there is an AT-1, wireless camera with a separate recorder.
Downside is you need a battery for the camera and DVR unit. (about 2hrs apparently)
Cheaper than some of the "wired" setups too.
It's also 1/5th of the cost of the POV1.5, just no HD recording,

Isn't recording in 720x480 at 30fps considered HD?
robm425 2 years ago
Youtube calls it HQ.
The POV records in Standard Def (SD).
Though a VERY clear SD.
High-definition video most commonly involves display resolutions of 1280×720 pixels (720p) or 1920×1080 pixels (1080i/1080p).
BHShaman 2 years ago
@robm425 No, SD is 720x480 and 720x486. HD is anything above that.
