@resdsox1 that was a good game. even though I was glad to see your pats (i guess you may be a pats fan since your screen name hints that you're a red sox fan) go on to win given that it was after 9/11 and a team named patriots wins the NFL title. I think the Raiders would have beat the steelers and then given the Rams a hard time in the SB, not necessarily win it though. They definitely came together after blowing the chance at a bye week with that 3 game skid at end of regular season
edvhou812, you're right. But the Niners are slowly rising again, at least in their divison, with talent like Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree, and Vernon Davis. Do you honestly think that Matt Leinart can lead the Cards to a division title?
OH MY GOD I remember this music! I had totally forgotten about it but this is awesome! I miss this music. I always thought this was great. Thank you thank you thank you for posting this!
Yea I miss this opening, The way they do it now, its just half ass, hell I think its just a logo with a 5 sec intro song. Doesn't get ya as pumped and this one!
wowgreat theme song tht actually still lives on today, sends chills up my spine whne i hear the old ones bringing bac some great memories of the past.
@smackdatpat , I think he is referring to Ray Lewis (#52, as if you needed to know that) as a crusher for the Ravens. I don't think he realizes how the arrangement of words affected their meaning. Ask your English teacher about it (If you know ththeir contact info)
Absolutely right, raidernation7878! That was "fuck rule game" alright. But if you remember...had Sebastian Janikowski made the field goal vs. the Titans that same season, we would HOSTED New England...and it wouldve been an entirely different story, my friend!
I love football. All I play is baseball because I wasn't allowed to play football. How annoying. Of course I probably would've broken my leg had I played football and regretted not playing baseball, but that's another story.
Only thing about that second version that bothered me is seeing that TV with the clip of Vinny Testicle's "TD" run vs the Hawks that forced the NFL to bring back instant replay...
CBS is the best, then NBC, then Fox, then ESPN. I used to like ABC when they used to have monday night football, but ESPN's version is awful. Oh yeah, and NFL Network should stop broadcasting games because it's no good their either.
oh yeah, I grew up a 49ERS fan also, no NFC team dominates like the Niners, I think they're a team to lookout for this comming NFL season with singletary has the head man now
Wow! Was that Gus Johnson right before they cut to the announcer with the brought to you in part by cut in? Gus Johnson doing NFL the same way he does College Basketball that would be GREAT TV!

This was awesome opening...the intro indicated the theatrical aspect and multimedia coming into the NFL coverage!

By the way, for those asking, the original 1992 theme was simply called "Super Bowl" and was composed by Frankie Vinci.

Is there a way we can contact CBS Sports and write a petition to get this theme back? I'd mark out if it came back.

I really liked and still remember the intro that started at :10; also, this theme has more character to it than the current one does.

CBS is Number 1 in my book...they need to scrap the theme they have now and go back to the theme they used in 1999.
CHSMustang06 3 years ago 12
The music was used in 1992-93, but the graphics are from 1998-99 when the same music was used, which was a huge improvement from 1992-93 graphics.
CBS has crappy music today for its NFL coverage.

No NFC dominates like the Niners? You are aware that it is 2010 and not 1990, right?

CBS music used to pump me up....This new shit, sucks. The only thing I hated about the Hawks going to the NFC was losing the CBS coverage.
CBS is, and always will be the home of the NFL in my book....
