I find that taking time to evaluate the movement of the pmc's patrolling throughout the game to be a well needed skill in remaining hidden. I personally like to access the movements before I stupidly run out into the fray. I try to make slow movements and act with care rather than fight my way through. Haven't gotten to the end of the game yet but this method has served me well. My aim is to complete the game then attempt BBE without using any camo. I know insane right but, hey. Who cares

This happend about 3 minutes ago so i came on here to voice my despair:

Im trying for no kills no alerts and got as far as Act 2. At the prison camp i noticed a sniper on top of a tower and decided to try out some CQC on him.. ended up accidentally slitting his throat when I tried to flip him onto his stomach. (during the grapple). Not saving made me a sad panda. (worst part is i know triangle when choking = throat slit.... Dont know what I was thinking) T_Y

You can't avoid the initial Gekko's, but it doesn't count against the player during the first portion of the game

You don't have to kill any human enemy in the game. You can knock them out using cqc or put them to sleep using darts and not do any damage.

1.) Like I said, MGS 1-3 were all Stealth games. If anything, MGS4 is the closest thing to a Third-Person Shooter in the series. So if you thought killing was fun in MGS 1-3, it should be a BLAST in MGS4 (not that I care. I like to play the game with stealth.)

I just got my PS3 with MGS4. Finished my first playthrough. Didn't do so hot. Now on my second playthrough, trying to improve. Sneaking in this is much different than good old MGS1 :P

Got any pro tips for a weary beginner?

Really not much to be honest.

The general moving slowly, and being careful of course. Make use of the octacamo, being blended into your surroundings can make you much harder to spot than you'd think.

Go for the headshots too when taking guards out. The better you get at landing those, the easier time you'll have. Nothings worse than shooting a guard once and having him escape in suspicion to bring more your direction.

This can't be the hardest mode in the game. Those guards should of heard your footsteps miles away. I know the one guy you tased on the second floor of the building freaks out if you do anything but crawl or crouch walk up to him.

The guards on the hardest setting for me react to even the slightest noise.

Just asking, did you have to try multiple attempts at each section and then just uploaded the ones that worked? Because I've just done the first area and it took me six tries (the PMCs kept seeing me at different parts). I had the most trouble taking out the two PMCs, another always saw/ heard me. I had to take out the third and then carry on as normal.

Yeah, I had to try more than once for some areas.

Some I was able to do the first time, but each area has their own difficulty. I also had to go through a couple of times trying different things. But once I got my strategy down, it didn't take me more than a couple of tries in most areas.

Well, they're both really different games. The trouble with this is, if you havent played the previous ones, it probably wont be very fun. I didnt like CoD personally, so I would suggest this, but if you havent played the others, then I suggest CoD5.

To be honest, not really. It's the same as the last games. The changes are introduced easily to get the hang of it. So the adjustments aren't too hard.

The beast forms dont count as kills, only the beauty form. Liquid doesnt count in the end either, because all you can use is your fists.

Any robots in the game dont count either because they're not human.

Well, it depends on how you think of first time.

I did play each act to get a strategy down, before I recorded my run of that act.

I would play a small section of the act to see how I would need to get through it, then I recorded that part. Then test ran the next part of it, and then went back to record that part.

In a sense it wasnt my first time. But I didn't beat Extreme any amount of times before recording my BBE run either.

Hi Shinso, I'm about to fight Ray and have 4:03. I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna get the BB emblem because this battle can be really short. Meanwhile I discovered that with the PS button pause the game keeps counting time. I remember in act 2 having lunch with PS pause and that's why my time is lousy. I had never understood why I had such a bad act 1 or 2, I wasn't sure. I'm going for a speed run next.

Yeah. you should have to make a save after the game is over when it prompts you to.

Continue off of that save to get your stuff back.

Stealth Camo, Patriot Gun and I believe any item/weapon unlocked through completion of the game.

Hmn... no th only things that counts as special item are the "bandana" that gives you infinite ammo and the "stealth" camo that gives snake 100% in his camo index... other than that is completely legal
