  • i was going to the zoo when this happen O.O

  • I remember this the tornado starts in West Jordan, heads across 15 sends the cars flying, head into Roper Yard derails the trains and knocks over the signals, heads down South Temple destroys the roof of the Energy Solutions Building, destroys the salt palace, takes out a gay bar on main street, heads to temple square knocks over the cranes, takes the roof off the tabernacle, and dies when it reaches the temple (temple square is holy ground) heads to capital hill, and dies in the hills.

  • That's enough "Sirthursday23". For your information, I am a Mormon and have been my whole life. Mormons are not even close to what you said. As a matter of fact, the biggest reason Salt Lake City's Crime is rising is because of non-Mormon jerks who dispise us and are slowly moving into the once great city dominated by good friendly people. As a matter of fact, i just heard about a man who was stabbed to death on the streets of Salt Lake City just last week. And i doubt it was a Mormon who did it

  • one person is not a true utah person >.>

  • I think that this video just goes to show that this disproves the common misconception that tornadoes can't happen in mountainous areas or in highly populated areas.

  • how old are you two? wow...

  • hey idiots i live in utah. i'm mormon and that twister was like 10 miles from my house so suck the heck up you basterds.

  • @DittoBlast yeah shut the heck up!!! im sick and tired of all this anti mormon shoot. all these frootlooping comments are getting on my gosh darn nerves!!

  • @DittoBlast Hey guy, I'm in Utah too. Sorry to hear it was 10 miles from you. I just wanted to comment and say how funny it is how much you go out of your way to censor yourself from swearing, it's really fucking funny god damn cunts shit cock ass

  • Too bad that tornado didn't rip apart that piece of shit mormon temple down town.

  • @BillSteer99 To bad people like you live in America

  • I wish people knew about the underground scene in slc. Better music venues, coffee shops, headshops, and hidden jems then most places i've been. Dont generalize most people in SLC arent even mormon. Watch SLC Punk. Thats all.

  • RARE a tornado ever hits utah, its a sign of global warming.

  • @Gary7Gann it's "selves" not "selfs." I'm trying to make sense of your incoherent rambling but I just can't do it.

  • Omg i remember,i was walking with my mom and dad,it was raining..then it started to hail, and i looked back..then i was something whirling around..then i was like,"TORNADO!! RUUNN!!" Then we ran as fast as we can then we went down by our house..then we grabed our pets and hurried dow to the basement..It was realy scary..i was..like..5 or something? i can't remember lol

  • @GrayWolf641 i was in my grandmas car with her and my cousin and aunt and none of them believed me when i said there was a tornado behind us but it was like less than a mile away!

  • you guys are all idiots, i live in Utah and the mormons aren't satanic and isn't a cult, they are good, if not better christians as all the other christian churches. I'm not mormon but they are very nice

  • @knwaite thank you! go im sick of every fucking person deciding they hate a state. they dont fucking live here so how the hell would they know how utahns are!?

  • @knwaite Thank you for saying that! I am Mormon and I really get tired of all the Mormon bashing it really sucks when people bash the entire state of Utah it was refreshing to read your comment! :O)

  • @UtahRaider Omg youre an idiot. You inbred mormons sit there and take the credit for things that were taught to you slow assholes for decades, when so many further advanced schools had to be asked to come to utah throughout the years to teach you slow ass backwards mormon inbreds the latest in technology, its because of us that you have good tech schools and good hospitals.. fyi, PA IS KNOWN FOR HAVING ONE OF THEEE BEST HOSPITALS NOT UTAH..sick you idiots taking credit

  • @UtahRaider no offence but i thought Mormons did not have computers and stuff like that

  • @prototype434 Apparently we do since the church is online :O)

  • @UtahRaider oh ok :)

  • It should have hit the LDS church! damnit!

  • @AndFuckYu2 Theres gotta be a strong enough tornado to wipe out all the mormons and that satanic church of theirs

  • @AndFuckYu2

    AMEN!

  • @AndFuckYu2 well i live in utah and its a wonderful place you stuck up bitch

  • @AndFuckYu2 i am now very curious why you would want such a thing

  • Remember tornado(es) (yes even F0's even during coldest of winter(s)) can cross oceans, climb up and down and other ways mountains, climb up and down and other ways falls etc. even during winter.

  • The tornado came from God to warn the Mormon leaders that he is not pleased with things in the church. Search on youtube for "The LDS Awakening" to see more details.

  • @samuelonthewall haha ya im sure you douche bag... and this is the NUNPUNCHER slapping his big beefy dick on your face you uncivil fuck.

  • @crazymarine1991 OK, don't diss Utah because of a crazy church. It is a beautiful state with lots to offer. Also, not everyone here is Mormon.

  • @crazymarine1991 Then get out of UTAH and Stop wathching videos you cabbage eating prick, Utah has some of the most beutiful sights in the world aand theres nothing you can do about it!

  • @crazymarine1991 I dont have sister, so go fuck yourself, your mom, and dad, because you probably have a mullet you dicksucking, cabbage eating prick, and still stop watching utah videos if you hate utah, and there is nothing wrong with mormans. P.S. I know the managers of you tube and they are going to take you off and bann your computer from this sight. HAHAHA

  • @schnoorman123 ok but you need to know i got my righ to say what i want and if you are trying to do this to get me off you tube try me for i have ery thing you said saved so you mr mormon fuck need to know ii have my rights and if thay were to do so i will have you out on the street i have my ways of ending stuff fast so dont fuck with Lakota mother fuck i will have your house and i will make your life hell

ps go eat some green jello with vegies in it you cluster fuck

  • @crazymarine1991 I am pretty sure you don't know what you are talking about

  • @SirThursday23 the hell i dont i was on the streets in roase park from 14 to 18 family dissowned me so yea i dont know what im talking about mormons being no good fucks its true, fyi my family is mormon and setteld utah and salt lake i had family that were part of the 12. all i can say is fuck mormonisem. and the good reason why i say that is the tcg i got shot at every fucking day were no good cock sucking mormons. so yea i dont know what im talking about.

  • @crazymarine1991 Have you ever heard of a thing called generalizations? If you wanna generalize... since you are a marine... then that would be the same thing as saying that every person in the military should be shot because of the my lai massacre... Does that make any sense to you? Don't generalize.

  • @SirThrsday23

You need to watch what you said about mormons why do you have problem with them? the people who are not mormons need to respct us. but look i am mormons to.

  • @carebear1071 I dont need to watch what i say about mormons, I can say what ever the fuck I want to say. mormons try saying that right's come with responibility, but yet my sister is in the army fighting for rights of all and yet a penis holder is telling me I need to watch what I say about the mormons? ok mr smarty pants if you know so much about what I can and cant say than why dont you tell us how magnets work.

  • i was a toddler, i lived close to this and i remeber playing outside and my mom freaking out and taking my siblings inside when it went over .

  • my dad was in that tornado

  • i was three when this happened my dad drove out and saw it.

  • omg i remember this.....Salt Lake was boing torn apart by this tornado, it was horrifying!!!

  • i was in 5th grade when this happened,.. i remember being in the playground at franklin elementry when it striked lol

  • haha i was a little kid in my grandmas car when this happened. We had just gone to some sort of zoo and I looked up at the sky and noticed two odd and large clouds merging and I said there was going to be a tornado (mind you I always said there was going to be a tornado when I was there...I spent most of my life in california). My grandma started to yell at me because I wouldn't shut up about there being a tornado when my grandpa called her telling her there was a tornado. hahahahaa

  • i remember that huge ass cloud that passed EvanstonWyoming...Holy shit!

  • WOW I remember this! I was 9 years old at the time, and my brother was working at Carl's Jr. downtown. That was pretty freaky. I remember standing outside though and staring up at the dark sky... wow, I was a stupid child lol

  • ya my aunt and nephew was in that and it pick up the front of her car then dropped her. and i was in the cross roads plaza. that was a crazy day. i couldn't believe it actually happened.

  • Ugh, my mom was in that and so was my bff and her mom, they were near the delta center!!!!

  • Ha, so true!

  • @crazymarine1991 What are you trying to say? Obviously the Marine Core needs to send some of its troops back to Elementary School. To=Too, Is=It, Tempale=Temple, Doller=Dollar. Jackass

  • @crazymarine1991 Haha crazymarine, you know why the inbreds in utah are so obsessed with spelling and all that, because for decades further advanced schools like Harvard Med, Yale, Penn State, Florida State,Princeton,

  • @crazymarine1991 among a few others were asked to come to utah to teach those idiots the latest in technology, they are slow as hell because they are products of incest, so they think oooo wow we gots an edumacation now lol, looky we are smart and we now can spell so you should be able to spell to haha

  • @secretbandmember2 Maybe you should look up some info there bud! Alot of tech companies are moving to Utah we also have some of the best hospitals and universities in the country.

  • @UtahRaider For something that was never yours in the first place.. HARVARD, YALE, PENN STATE, NEW YORK STATE, BOSTON.. THOSE ARE THEE BEST UNIVERSITIES IN THE COUNTRY YOU INBRED SLOW IDIOT.. THEY'RE ONE OF THE SCHOOLS THAT INTRODUCED TECHNOLOGY AND HELPED YOU IDIOTS WITH EDUCATION..

  • Nobody here is trying to take credit for any of the accomplishments of the amazing universities that you listed, we are saying that Utah also has been making contributions to technology in general (google Huntsman Cancer Institute for one example). I guess if you are bigoted against Mormons or Utah in general then there is no convincing you and it is your own damn problem.

Before you embarrass yourself by calling me an imbred mormon or whatever, I am not mormon...

  • @JazzandCoasters As I said utah was taught everything that they know.. they didnt learn it on their own.. ya idiot

  • @secretbandmember2 So you are saying that Utah universities have made no contributions to technology or education, building off of other people's work or brand new?

  • @JazzandCoasters Yeah Im saying that, if it werent for the further advanced schools in the US having to go out to utah and help the slow inbred mormons with technology and education, you idiots would still be living 50yrs behind, and to this day you people still live behind the times, socially retarded

  • @secretbandmember2 I don't think you really even know what inbred means...

  • Wow, 10 years ago today...incredible destruction, glad to see Salt Lake City is back on its feet.

  • utah is the best i watched the roof of the delta center blow away

  • I remember when I was younger, my friend, my sister, and me were very young we saw a news report and we went to the basement and we were in Salt Lake County, getting ready for this tornado all we had was snacks and nothing else it was funny.

  • Yeah my dad was the only person that died in this thing.

  • oh and that explosion was a trax station i beleive.

  • TRAX was being built at the time. it was a power sub station that blew

  • i was six when this happened. i was with my cousin, aunt, and grandma. the tonado hit about a mile form us and they didnt believe me when i said there was a twister. they said i was a lying little brat and to not say shut things. then my grandma turned ont he news when we got home and saw the proof.

  • i was 3

  • If only it had hit the Temple...

  • Actually, we need tornados to come to earth and wipe out islamic mosques. From what I've heard, Mormons aren't about to slice your head off.

  • nobody needs to hear your radical right-wing views.

  • Up your islam-loving ass, you fuckin' reject. Pay Lay Ale!

  • Earthquakes we expect in Salt Lake City, but a tornado? My wife saw it touch down, and she was clear on the other side of the valley, by Knudson's corner where I-215 turns from south to west. When she called me, and we went outside to look (We couldn't see anything but clouds), all my coworkers thought she was some kind of nutcase, until it came on the news.

  • I remember this too well. It was a sudden interruption on the news channel and I was unable to believe what had happened until about 20 minutes after I heard about it. Interesting enough that a few hours later, my hometown of Ogden almost had one as well. I saw rotation in the clouds and I called for my family to come outside and look at it. It rotated for about 30 to 45 seconds before it stopped. We had never seen anything like it at the time.

  • This damned thing claimed my father's life. & I still can't bring myself to go to Salt Lake City.

  • was he the one person who died in this thing? that may seem liek a harsh question but only one person died in this accident.

  • I was about 60 miles North of there when it hit. Even at that distance the wind was unbearable when you went outside

  • were you in tremonton or brigham city?

  • I was in Brigham City at the time. We were right at the edge of the storm it self but the winds had to be at least at 40 to 50 miles an hour.

  • ohj cool i lived in tremonton and i was 9 when that happened and i still remember how windy it was

  • I've lived in the Salt Lake area all my life and I've always wanted to see a tornado. I was in Park City when this one hit. Missed it! Maybe it's just as well, though. I do remember the clouds were as black as pitch. Obviously something was happening, and it wasn't good. It's amazing to think that this one was relatively small.

  • Well, since everyone's telling their stories... I was 12 when this happened (my profile age is wrong), and on August 11, 1999 I was with my dad driving down to pick up a video I'd made in a class over the summer. When we got home we saw a big storm and then realized it was a tornado and hid in the basement. I could hear strong winds whipping around. The tornado came within 2 blocks of my house.

  • Looks like an hoax to me

  • Nope, no hoax here, I was working in south salt lake and we watched it come in from the west and go through downtown.

  • i was only 4 when that happens i live in utah

  • i saw it

i was driving away from downtown when my mom saw it

  • one hit dowtown fort worth texas a few years ago!~

  • Comment removed

  • i remember this! I lived by the LDS hospital when this hit. we watched it from our balcony. scariest thing i have ever seen

  • that was just an f3 imagine an f5....

  • I remember this! It was so scary. Good thing i live in Ogden (Even though i hate Ogden) =]

  • i remember that cause i live in utah.

  • I remember when this happened. With the entire area surrounded by mountains a tornado is almost impossible to fully form, much less one this big. It was a shock to be sure.

  • Utah gets more tornadoes than people actually think. This one in Salt Lake City, and in 2002 the one in Manti. We get the vortex clouds, most of them never touch down.

  • i was only 5 when that hapenned. good thing we didnt live downtown we lived in south salt lake area

  • ive never heard of a tornado in a big city, would be terrible if it would happen :O

  • Please I live in Chicago during Tornado season we have them weekley. We have had them in downtown but our buildings are designed to withstand them. The Northern Suburbs of Chicago were badly damaged by a tornado in 2007. Evanston, Skokie, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Northfield, Glenview, Winnetka, Northbrook, and Glencoe were badly damaged.

  • Ya but we live in Utah surrounded by mountains so we don't just have a tornado

  • this is just a taste of the events global warming will bring us...

  • I was there. I was at the convention center (can't remember what it is called) setting up for a trade show. People came running through the building screaming that a tornado had hit the building. I'm from Oklahoma and just blew it off that these people were wrong and obviously didn't know what a tornado looked like. I went outside to look around and sure enough a little tornado had hit downtown.

  • No worse place for a tornado to hit than a downtown city-MAN LOOK AT THAT FIREBALL!!

  • this hasent happend in years

  • ouch...smack dab in the middle of SLC

there was one in 2007 that ALMOST touched down in the Hill AFB area. it was really windy that day :P

and its really rare to see one in those parts...especially when theres 2 different tornadoes in the same parts only 8 miles away

    (separate years though)

  • That was one of the scariest days for me. I live there. It was terrible.

  • I was working at the Utah State Prison when this happened. I was pumped because it meant it was lockdown time. VERY strange to see a tornado in Salt Lake with mountains basically surrounding it. I love the weather in the summer there. That was a crazy day though. The ironic thing was the only person who died as a result was from Las Vegas or something like that.

  • Yeah wasn't he visiting for some expo or something?

  • Yep. He got hit by a flying two by four I believe and was killed.

  • i remember this. my mom, bro, sis and me were at a dead stop on I-15 (they were still redoing all the roads for the olympics so traffic was EVEN WORSE back then) and we were looking out the back window at this tornado getting closer, it was surreal, terrifying, and hilarious at the same time!

  • i live in ogden about 45 minutes away from i was at my housse when this happened my younger brother was really scared i was kinda but not really

  • That was our "Welcome to Utah" present. just four days after we moved from Spokane to Ogden...we hear of a Tornado in SLC. lol

  • The day before this happen i was working on top of the qwest building in downtown. It was a friday i was making a potato cannon in my garage and i heard the hail storm hitting the roof. After i was done i went inside to watch tv and i saw the tornado. i thought dang im glad i live in utah where we dont have tornados. but then i notices it was SLC. I thought again im glad i didnt have to work today i could have been in that. SWEET!

  • I been talking to Mormom Missionaries in the Fort Worth Texas area. Im a non-Mormom and staying that way. But I do talk nice too them.

Anyway I told them about the Fort Worth March 2000 Tornado that hit our Downtown.I mentioned the Salt Lake Tornado. One is from Salt Lake and he like never new one hit Salt Lake?

  • i remeber when this happend i was in school my freinds dads saw it pass right by his work

  • This particular footage would have had better impact if the reporter could have even remotely kept his cool during the event. Losing it like that doesn't help the public get a grasp as to what's happening any better.

  • My wife and I were downtown when the twister hit. We stepped outside, planted our feet firmly on the ground and REBUKED the tornado in Jesus' name. It lifted up and went off to a northeast direction and dissipated... ptl!!

  • It's crazy, I'm a native Utahn, and the day it hit I was visiting my mom in Illinois. Ironic to be in tornado alley, and here one strikes my home town.

  • My brother lives in Salt Lake city

  • I was about 9 when this happened and I remember going to my friends house down the street and jumping on her trampoline in the wind. My dad was driving home from work and he said it was really hard to steer because the wind was so strong.

  • also my mom was there at she had a job at U92 radio station and was there next to the whole time

  • i was 5 when this happened i lived up in Kearns un hills where i could see the tornado perfectly from the roof of my house

  • I was like 4 when this happened...and i dont even have a clue bak then...i was probably watchin spongebob r somethin...lol

  • My aunt got chased in her car by that thing, and my dad stood across the street from it. I remeber my aunt coming and like crying because she was so scared.

  • holy carp thats rare wow i am so glad i dont live there!

  • my granma lives there is that even true!? note is 100% that NO tornodos can go in salt lkae city becuse of moutins! or was it in them?

  • yea this isnt fake.

  • mountains cant protect a town

  • meag -

No, what you are hearing and seeing is 100% true - there was a tornado that hit right in the middle of the city! (I was living there when it happened.)

Yeah, we thought because of the mountains, that something like this would be *impossible* - but such was not the case. (We even had a couple of tornadoes touched down in the mountainous areas, a few months later.)

  • man i was just like 8 years old when it happened so i had no idea what the hell was going on. Besides i was clear in Riverton. My dad was working in Salt Lake City when it happened tho, pretty scary.

  • Yestrday [sept 4 07]A huge storm in Utah hit!It caused a few funnels and tornados!.i wasent at home at the time when the funnel was above my house!thats very rare in utah.

  • on that storm on september fourth a tornado passed right over my house. pretty freaky

  • Yeah. I was skateboarding downtown when this shit happened. It was pretty scary

  • Dude I remember seeing this shit on TV in South Dakota. It came on as a special interuption and we were all gathered around the TV like HOLY FUCK UTAH GOT A TORNADO??!! It was kind of a big deal I remember.

  • I was at work in Salt Lake when this happened - probably about two miles or less from where it hit. I remember the lights in our building going out, then coming back on real quick - we had no idea what was going on until someone from the other side of our office building looked out and started screaming. Pretty scary day - Utah isn't known for its tornadoes.

  • I lived in the avenues when this happend in '99. I couldn't figure out why all the cop cars had lights and sirens on heading downtown.

  • I remember this day It was terreble

  • I am totally impressed of some of you, why do some people don't believe lovinhim 2010? She is a nice person, she issn't liar, she never lies, I know her by Internet and she is a nice person, and she lost her dad in this horrible day in this horrible tornado. It has to be so hard to lost your dad and to hear how someone say that you are a liar, so please, be candy with lovinghim 2010 or at least don't call her liar.

    take care people

    -Cristian

  • i lived there but not when this happened

i always miss out on tornadoes..

  • its been 7 years, 9 months and 7 days.... god... way to effin long

  • Alright 4 all you crazy ppl This tornado was n 1999 it was August 11th nd 1 man frm Las Vegas Nevada was killed that mans name was Allen Crandy I would knw he was my father for those who call me a liar STFU nd do ur effin homework im sick of people callin me a liar cuz i dont lie nd i nvr will

  • actually this one was in 2002

  • No it was in 99 because I still lived in salt lake at the time and I've lived here in Logan for almost 7 years.

  • It was on August 11, 1999

  • This also brings back memories- I lived as far as a small town near Brigham, and even my own house's roof was shredded.. I do not remember though, anyone remember what the supercell *looked* like?

  • I HATE THIS DAY I HATE IT! I lost my dad in this storm! RIP Allen Arvis Crandy!

    7/8/61-8/11/99

  • Do forgive me. I am truly sorry for your loss. This twister was really just one of those freak things. :o(

  • Its okay... I just saw it and i freaked out... but it does show me what happened I was too young I was 8 and I hardly remember it.

  • No problem. I know it must be hard. Good luck 2 you.

  • STFU only one person died in this storm at it was a female.

    Liar

  • Uh, no it wasn't a female who died. Allen Crandy is the name of the person who died in that tornado.

  • You should do some homework before speaking out. You might avoid hurting someone like jen.

  • Thanks
