  • Hi, would it be possible to remove a small hump on the nose bridge (bone part, not cartillage) using closed rhinoplasty method, and still have no need to use an implant after that?

  • Around how much will it be to just to remove the hump

  • I have a hige bridge on my nose, not sure if its a bridge or a cartilidge hump... i don't even know if i know what i'm talking about. I have excess cartilidge on my clavicle, so maybe i also have it on my nose? I don't know, help.

  • @fezzahoes Hello,

Any issues you experience with your nose are unique to the nose and will not be influenced by other areas. Please feel free to send any photos of your nose to my office and I would be happy to evaluate them for you. Thank you for the message and I hope this helps.

  • i know this is a stupid question but what are the chances of someone waking up during a rhinoplasty surgery? cause i want to remove the dorsal hump in my nose and if i did get it removed this would be my first surgery

  • @clandestine3 Hello,

This is extremely rare, and can be the result of not enough anesthesia. Thank you, and please feel free to ask me any specific questions about rhinoplasty surgery and I would be happy to answer them for you.

  • Hey, I have a pretty large dorsal hump which is primarily bone. But the tip of my nose is fine. My profile doesnt look to bad from the front but from the side its pretty ugly with such a big hump. The hump goes outwards aswell as upwards. Would my case most likely be solved with a closed rhinoplasty and how much would it cost to get the dorsal hump removed roughly?

  • @supersmithdaddy Hello,

The cost of a primary rhinoplasty ranges from $10,000-$15,000. An examination would be necessary to determine whether or not the procedure would need to be open or closed. Please feel free to send any photos to my office and I would be happy to evaluate them for you and provide you with advice. Thank you for the message.

  • I never had a nasal hump until I got hit on my nose with a basket ball when I was 8 years old. My nose has a hump and has been crooked ever since. I recently started playing sports again and I feel like it's getting larger and larger. Is it recommended to see a surgeon or will it not affect my breathing and whatnot?

  • @salloumeh96

    Hello,

Trauma to the nose may adversely affect your breathing. It is a personal preference as to whether or not you would like to make any cosmetic changes. Thank you and I hope this helps.

    Hello,

The minimum recommended age to have rhinoplasty performed is 15 years of age for girls and 16 for boys. Thank you and I hope this helps.

  • if i get my hump removed, do i have to get that plastic thing up my nose forever? i know people with nose surgeries can't do the pig nose anymore because it'll mess up the plastic in their nose.

  • @lovevsabsence

    Hello,

Any splints placed in the nose will be removed. If you are referring to an artificial implant, that is a different circumstance. I prefer to use one's own natural tissue and cartilage. It is more readily accepted by the body and yields a natural result. I would only use an artificial implant if absolutely necessary. Thank you and I hope this helps.

  • Can nasal hump appear from an injury because I never had one and after I got hit directly to my nose it appeared? Or does it come with age?

  • @TheEjayProductions Hello,

Trauma to the nose can cause a dorsal hump to develop. With age, the tip may droop and the dorsum may appear more convex. Thank you for the question.

  • @TheEjayProductions Hello,

Trauma can cause a nasal hump to appear. With age, the nasal tip can droop, causing the bridge to appear more convex. In this situation, it may appear that a nasal hump is present. Thank you, and I hope this helps answer your question.

  • I was wondering does removing of the packing hurt? because i remeber my sister getting it removed and she just bled and bled. and also do you feel pain after surgery?

  • @natlovesyooh24

    Hello,

Removal of the nasal splints is not very painful. I recommend my patients take pain medication prior to the splint removal in case they experience any discomfort. Pain following surgery is minimal, and your surgeon will provide painkillers in case you need them. Thank you for the question, and I hope this helps.

    Dr. Nassif

  • those removing the packing hurt? My sister was very young when she got her nose and i remeber the doctor taking the packing out and it just bled a lot. Im going to get a nose job and my worry is if the removal of the packing hurt and if its painful after the surgery

  • @natlovesyooh24

    Hello,

Removing splints that are placed inside the nose after surgery is not very painful. Your surgeon may advise you to take your pain medication prior to the office visit to minimize any discomfort. Thank you, and I hope this helps answer your question.

  • What is the tube in her mouth???

  • @musubi69 The tube is to assist the patients breathing during surgery. Thank you, and I hope this helps answer your question.

  • Hi Dr , please answer me i have an important thing i need to know i'm 18 years old and i have a hump in my nose its really making me less beauty and its annoying me and i'd like to remove it as soon as possible but some people told me that i should wait till i turn 20/21 'till my Facial features completely grown, should i go for it now ? cause what i know ..on 18 the face stop growing

  • @Reetal00 Hello,

The minimum recommended age to have rhioplasty is 15 for girls and 16 for boys. It would not be necessary to wait until you are 20 or 21 years old. Thank you, and I hope this helps answer your question.

    Dr. Nassif

  • OMG that looks so painful

  • Whats better open or closed rhinoplasty?

  • @immarapist2 Hello,

It really depends on one's individual situation. In some cases, open rhinoplasty may be a better option, as it will allow your surgeon to see more, and better access certain areas of the nose. In other cases, an open procedure may not be necessary, and the closed option would be preferred. I hope this helps answer your question.

  • Dr. Nassif,

How do you determine whether or not the rhinoplasty is a closed procedure? I would like to get a rhinoplasty but I want it to be as little invasive as possible because I do not want to return to school swollen or even appearing to have had surgery. Please let me know.

  • Hi Doc, I am looking to get a small hump removed from my nose. I am worried that there isnt alot of flesh on my nose and I can feel the bone.. is it likely that I will have a good result after my surgery?

  • My nose is narrow and has a bump on it. I want to remove the bump but I hear that this procedure will make my nose more narrow than it already is. Is this true?

  • i have a bump on my nose. it is really big and sometimes really itchy and hurting... i really wanted to remove it but i afraid it is costly.

  • what's the minimum age of getting this done?

i'm 16 and have a horrible little bump near the top of my nose. I just want rid of it.

  • Your old enough is seen as young as 14 get he procedure done.

  • hey doctor

about how much it cost to get on these done ?

  • hello, please answer me back, I broke my nose 7 weeks ago, the ENT said that I need no reduction because the bones are not displaced, so all I can do is wait and see, the thing is now I am having a very hard bump on the side (although my bone are nondisplaced) and I wanted to know if that is a callus if it is going to fade out with time or will I be needing some rasping to get rid of it, knowing that I had a very beautiful nose before the accident. Thank you so much.

  • hello Doctor

right now i'm kind off young and i have a slightly big nasal bone. I want to try to get it removed without surgery. is there any exercises/ways to get rid of it at home?

    thx

  • Hello,

Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, there are not any ways to reduce the size of your nasal bone without surgery. There are various exercises that may be performed after the procedure to help reduce swelling. Thank you, and best of luck to you.

    Dr. Nassif

  • @drpaulnassif before i didnt have the bump, but then i got into a fight at school and the other guy punched me in the nose over and over again, a couple days later i developed the bump and my nose was slightly crocked, as of now i often have nasal conjestion and problem breathing from my nose. is there anything i can do?

  • is it possible to wake up during this process?

  • It is unlikely you will wake up during the process, as a skilled anesthesiologist is monitoring you at all times in my operating facility. However, all surgeries have risks associated with them and there is a very small percent chance you may wake, but it is very seldom reported. Thank you for the inquiry.

    Dr. Nassif

  • why would any sane person want to b awake while somebody is filing a bone in your face?

  • @heybabyheybaby12 very rare, but yes it has happend..But don't let this stop you, because it's about 1 in 1 million chance.

  • I had a septorhinoplasty a month ago to correct deviated septum and to remove a dorsal hump. But right now there is still a small bump on my nose, not nearly as much as before, but I was hoping to have a straight profile. Is it mean that the hump was not completely removed? Or is it still too early to tell and there still needs healing to really know? I appreciate the help in advance!

  • Hello,

After a month there is still residual swelling, and the best thing for you right now would be to wait and see what happens. Thank you for the message.

    Dr. Nassif

  • I really appreciate the help, your a phenomenal surgeon from the videos I've watched, and very helpful. Thanks a ton, it makes me feel better to know that it could just be a waiting game as opposed to an underdone surgery. The bump feels hard like bone, but I was reading it could just be a callus.
