  • Lost my Akita at 14 years 6 months. Nothing felt safer than knowing she was at the foot of the bed when I was sleeping! I miss her so much!

  • It almost makes me not want to get an akita because i know how much i'll cry when he goes:') But Akita's will always be the worlds BEST dog!!!

  • wonderful:)

  • I love how much Tomo was loved by this family. What a great dog and gone way too soon.

  • All dogs deserve heaven

  • He looked just like him

  • I know how you feel as well, I had an Akita for 6 years, His name was Akai. My moms boyfriend at the time let him outside to go to the bathroom, and didnt hook him up properly, because he was on sleeping pills and booze and he ran away, I spent the entire night looking for him, only to have him continue running around the town. I went home in hopes that he would make it back home. The next morning I woke up only to find him laying dead on the highway, It hurts so much..

Love the tough yet gentle affectionate cute sweet look on his face. Love the way you pple took care of him with so much care and love, on behalf on your dog, i thank you for your passion love affection care, dis is the way we should love our best buddy.

  • We were lucky enough to have three akitas who lived to be 11, 13 and 14. Our male akita was always just a big goofy teddy bear until the night a scary drunk guy walked into our house when my husband wasn't home. I'll just say our male akita earned his keep that night. Thanks for sharing your video of Tomo. Akitas are the best.

  • I lost my Akita at the ripe old age of 14 and still think about her - everyday. I now have a 6 month old Akita again (my 6th one in 26 years) and I will NEVER be without one, as long as I live. To know one, to have one as a companion, a family member, is to love one. God bless you and yours.

  • I know it's been a couple years, but I'm sorry for your loss. Akitas are one of the most amazing, loving breeds out there. I grew up with an Akita and German Shepherd mix, and they are so loyal and amazing. I'm glad you had eight years with Tomo, he seems like a wonderful friend.

  • dam this made me fill up i have to akitas had them since they were 5 weeks had to bottle feed one of them will break my heart when i got to say good bye :(

  • Tomo what a dog, and what caretakers! I rescued my 2nd one on Friday he is two years old Akita Rescue Society Fl. Our 13 year old Einstein had a long life, now we have a new one to love.

  • Very sorry about Tomo Chan. Makes me want to make my 5 year old Tenshi's life as full as possible, not so much laying around. I know... same name. Peace.

  • Crying tears for you and Tomo. We lost our Akita, Rachel, 1 `/2 yrs. ago. Her baby Silk is now 9 and slowing down. Silk is my constant companion. Love to you.

  • beautiful akita, so sorry for your loss.

  • I got an Akita crossed with a Husky and he ain't my dog, he's my friend, one big problem, he doesn't intend to do what I say, but oh well, he's good with other dogs and he's good with other people, he's 9 months old now, I got a video of him on here, I'm looking for some pet groups where they can help me with him, I hope they can otherwise I'll be forced to sell him or give him away, is there any tips you can give me? Your dogs cute, sorry for your lose, R.I.P Tomo! If you want an Akita got one!

  • @speedy20091

Two things are needed: (1) socialization and (2) obedience training. Both are very important and must be immediately started.

  • @speedy20091 you have to show ur dog whos the master, or things will starts to go bad when he grows fully

  • I had a wonderful Bull Terrier and I loved Him. Now he is at rainbowbridge. I hope him now playing with Tomo and them full of happiness. I write you from Italy. A great great kiss to you.

  • God, this just scares me. My akita is Jake. I was hurt in Afghanistan losing my good friend Jacob Lowell June 2, 1007. I got my akita and named him after Jacob. This makes me so scared to lose him I dred that day. But every day is a gift with him he loves me so much I just know it but how he lays with me, licks me, rubs his nose all over my face when I sleep. AH damn. I don't ever want to lose him. You made a great tribute. RIP

  • I lost both of my Akitas, Tojo and Teka, in the past 15 months. I share your grief and pain. I really didn't think I could survive the day when we had to put them down.

  • akitas are the best dogs ever

  • I am 33 yrs old and just got my first dog and it happens to be an Akita. I have had her since she was 9 weeks old and she just turned 6 months. Training her isn't the easiest thing but I love so so much. I am so attached to her already and can't believe how smart she is. She is the sweetest thing. I'm so sorry for your loss. Tomo was a beautiful Akita. I cried watching your tribute and my Akita ( sydney) came to me and licked my tears. Rest in peace TOMO!!!

  • hi there,.. i have an akita her name is choki!! but i dont know how to train her and she always mess things up.. she's only 3 mos old.. im starting to kinda train her but she would never listen.. and bad thing is shes becoming a nuisance..

id like to ask some questions on how to train this dog...

  • You need to find a dog group obedience class near you and take the dog. Do it now. Two things are extremely important for an Akita: (1) obedience training, and (2) socialization. You can do (1) by taking the pup to a public place with lots of people where strangers can pet him. Some good places would be a public park, a pet store or even in front of a large store (i.e., Target, Walmart, etc.)

  • (2) can be done by yourself - but only if you have experience. Otherwise you MUST get the pup to a obedience class. Do this now. It's important that the dog know you are the "alpha" (i.e., the boss). Once he grasps this, you will have a loyal friend for life. Akitas are wonderful if socialized and obedience-trained. Otherwise they can be a nightmare.

  • i am on a waiting list of an akita breeder.should the puppy at the end of the summer.i can t wait to gewt her.i had two dogs before and they died both of old age almost in the same year.... so my heart goes out to you cause i know what it s like when you lose them.he looked amazing in deed!

  • I lost my Akita last night, Tanika was 8 years old, I miss her so much. My heart goes to you, as I am getting ready to lay her to rest. She was regal. The Akitas are a gift. and we are lucky to have them in our lifes. Loyal friends till the end

  • My heart goes out to you and your family. I have a 13 year old Akita, who has the similar markings (more black on the face). She's a complete charm and they are great dogs. Akita's are great dogs. R.I.P. Tomo

Good Luck to you and your family!

  • Made a grown man cry. God bless you all

  • My heart goes out to you and your wife. I just recently (3 months) purchased my akita (bear), I'm already very attached to her. She is 7 months and is so awesome. God is Good so be confident that you will see your buddy again!

  • I lost my Akita of 13 years last week. She was 15 and was a recue. I had not ever heard of the breed until the day i took her home. She was the best dog I have ever known. I miss her so much. She developed bone cancer and the last 3 month of her life she could barely walk but still followed me from room to room... so very loyal till the day she died. I am Sorry for you loss.

  • Tomo was a beautiful dog. I feel your pain for I had to put down my male German Shepherd Dog (Nick) on 7/19/09. He was a gift from God and a great dog that helped me through a rough time. He was 10 and his back legs couldn't carry him any longer. Shepherds and Akitas are my favorite breeds. If I ever get over the pain of losing Nick, I'm getting an Akita for my next dog. '

  • I lost my beautiful German shepherd Jerry Lee prematurely and it hurt so bad that I never wanted another dog again. However, after I got my girlfriend a Rottwieler puppy who showed me that I have lots of love for these beautiful animals and I soon came to realise that I was being foolish and selfish to deny a dog all this love I have to give. So 6 years on I got an Akita and I only wish I had done it sooner. Heal your wounds my friend but if there is love to give then do.

  • Thanks for your note. What a pick me up! I believe when the weather breaks for Spring - I'm going to Rescue an Akita. I also love Rottweilers. They're all great and I miss getting and returning the love they give so unyieldingly.

  • i have an akita... and he look like yours.

i love him. im sure that when he die i gona cry . akitas are the best dogs.

sorry for my bad english im from chile

  • Thanks for the kind comments. Yes, Akitas are special dogs. Every day with them is a gift.

And your English is better than my Spanish. :-)
