Nakai has the biggest heart (and biggest balls) in MMA hands down. Its a shame is career was cut short from getting blinded by that douchebag in Vale Tudo. His legacy lives on in the awesomeness that is Shinya Aoki, his protege.
Another internet tough guy eh? It was not an intentional eye gouge, and Nakai failed to seek medical attention for several WEEKS after the incident which is the reason he ended up permanently blinded in his right eye. Had he sought medical attention he more than likely would have fully recovered from the injury.
Please, it's the same Gerard Gordeau that kept biting Royve Gracie in UFC 1..he's a dirty fighter...Watch teh fights, it was intentional.. Yuki is JUST a warrior which is why he didn't complain..
Yeah, whatever Robbie, not complaining is one thing, refusing to seek medical attention is completely ignorant, if you knew the situation as much as you think you do you would know he was repeatedly told to seek medical attention and failed to do so. Is he a tough guy? Absolutely. And it was not an intentional eye gouge, did he bite Gracie? Absolutely. Does that equate intentional malicious behavior in other matches? No.
You have quite the knack for reading things incorrectly.
If you say so chief, but it's common knowledge that Gordeau is dirty.. read the Book NHB Evolution... The Royce ear biting was just proof that he is a dirty fighter...
lol @ biting someone who is much smaller than you!! just lol! I still remember watching that Live back in 1993....
I always find humor in people on the internet making judgements on people they don't know. As in you assuming you know more about mixed martial arts and the fights. On the other hand there are a lot of people who claim to be fighters, lawyers, doctors etc on the net too.
Is Gordeau dirty? In my opinion yeah he is, but just because something is in a book doesn't make it a fact.
I saw UFC 1 live myself, and several times again recently on disc. I am assuming you mean you saw it live on PPV.
You originally replied to MY statement about a well known fact, had Nakai sought medical attention before weeks had passed he would still have site in both eyes today. You told me to watch the fight and I would see it was intentional, I disagree, it looks nothing like an intentional eye gouge to me nor to 90% of the people that have analyzed the fight including Joe Rogan, Rorian and Relson Gracie, Mike McCarthy, and Bas Rutten all of whom have made public statements on the eye gouge.
@TheTerrorUforgot I have not heard that. From what I have gathered and watched interviews, it was purely tough guy pride that kept him from seeking medical attention. Either way it is a terrible waste. I'm personally familiar with this behavior. I failed to seek medical advice for a severe injury to my leg and back, waited to seek medical attentionuntil one morning when I couldn't walk. One dead nerve and another partially severed later, I'm a nearly useless human being. I regret it every day.
@TheTerrorUforgot Not to my thinking, he sought medical attention after several weeks, unfortunately it was too late and was informed he was permanently blind. Then hid the fact he was blind to protect the sport.
It doesn't matter who is ranked what or anything like that. Just that Yuki Nakai has balls and one eye and that this was a wonderful match that I enjoyed every minute of. Kudos to the uploader.
Yuki has trained BJJ, he went to Brazil after fighting Rickson to start training with the best in Brazil..he's even trained with Rickson and Royler..and his protege is Shinya Aoki...
@RobbieH02879 Spot on, I'm always curious where people get their false information when the truth is so readily available. Nakai: "Every time I fought with a brown belt I would ask the organizers “Can I fight in this competition with so-and-so belt?” and at the Pan-Americans they said that I needed the black belt, but I didn’t have a main teacher — I had a lot of different instructors but not one set teacher. For me, I got it from the Federation. " (It being his Black Belt in BJJ)
@RobbieH02879 Not only that, after receiving his BJJ Black Belt he then founded the Japanese Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Pareastra gyms in Japan.
I like it,very nice.

Nakai is a true warrior. I remember him beating that huge wrestler (arm bar) after being eye gouged by gerard gordeax on the same night.

It's in the movie CHOKE: The Rickson Gracie story. Gerard Gordeau smashed his thumb into Nakai's right eye and he ended up being permanently blind.

Yes, live on PPV and numerous times since... UFC 1 is what got me started in BJJ...
And yes, there is MORE than enough evidence to attest that Gordeau is a dirty fighter, you even admit that yourself..so what is the issue??
