You mis-read. They're building hotels and a cruise terminal. The RWY 31/13 has already be partly scrapped.

In my case, i would enjoy, but i would wake up anyways beacuse i would always be excited! Hong Kong should of never expanded there. Sure, people complain of it but it's their fault that they decided to live there. Besides, only a couple thousand people live in that area and millions are fans of kai tak.

I went back to Kai Tak in the summer of 2007 and the parking lot was all I saw there (and the remains of the checkered board). Thousands of people miss the airport around the world (including me) just to make a few hundred people near the airport happier.
