If it's an older acura, you probably tuned it, in which case it doesn't matter because you can make any car fast if you have money. Either that or you forgot to mention how long it took to hit 147 on a downhill.

Also, there's a shitload of American cars out there that push 200-300k miles, so the theory that Honda's are always more reliable is false.

It is newer, I never tuned it. I don't believe in "tuning" there's no point in modifying modern cars. The price per mod and the increase in performande/speed isn't worth it. 9/10 times you're better off getting a better car and leaving it stock.

Hell, for $4,000 you can pick up a Grand Prix GTP with supercharged 3.8 liter which does 0-60 in just under 7 seconds. Hell, a damn lot can out accelerate a current Impala or Malibu for that money.

@pojo205 Every second requires more and more torque. Besides, in the market I'm in, If you can find a supra built after '90 that's not a shell, expect to pay over 8,000 for it if it runs at all. My Ford RANGER does 0-60 in 9 seconds, 9 second 0-60 isn't something fancy, where the '11 Mustang GT does it in 6, as does the '11 370z, 7 is decent for a cheap sedan.

Where on earth are you that the cops get superchargers? Never heard of a factory supercharged Charger (cops only use factory stuff).

You're so full of it. A 2011 Mustang GT does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds at 112 MPH. The 2011 370z does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.2 seconds. Every yard requires more torque, every few yards takes a second. Not every second requires torque, completely different.

Of course Supras are priced $8k+ that's why I said I'd pay a couple extra dollars. And IF it runs? Supras are a popular car. Only a fool would neglect to take care of one.

If each yard requires torque, and each torque takes seconds, then each second takes torque, how is that difficult to grasp? To get X pounds to 60MPH in Y seconds, you need torque and lots of it, that's the entire principal of drag racing, getting off the line with the highest torque available. That's why drag transmissions have high stalls, and VERY high torque multiplication at stall (look it up, it's real).

The officers wouldn't do it because it would void the warranties, and negate the maintenance deals they have with Dodge. The use standard 6.1L Hemis in the Police Package Chargers and Magnums, just with a more agressive tune, and no speed limiter. Why would they need superchargers anyway? The vehicles make well over 300HP. Besides, a 600HP supercharged car is dangerous to drive around. Lots of liability...

It might be an interesting test to line up an Impala SS and a 2nd gen GTP on a runway and see if the GTP could maintain that initial advantage. The impala is heavy, and they make similar power numbers, the race could be close.

They weigh 3300 pounds, and have 280 lb.ft of torque, the Impalas are 4400 and has 330lb.ft of torque. They both run through slushboxes, so we're gonna assume their power loss through the drievtrain is matched, percentage wise. The impala comes out ahead in the raw numbers, but it's not got a blower on it, though both have restrictive as hell manifolds. It would certainly be an interesting race.
