  • Super Funky!! I absolutely love it. I don't particularly care for the original by "john legend" but this is siiicckkk!!!

Congratulations on some excelent work my friend. simple, yet excelent. Keep it comming!

  • I have watched this video 5 times now just to listen to the song.

  • the kick also gets reverb though!! how do you make only the high hat get reverb?

  • хрень....

  • i use alot of these techniques in my music to see them applyed check out my channel

  • 10 thumbs up for this ;-)

  • ELECTRO HOUSE FLP!~

    /watch?v=rE2aQAvVSwI

  • Great video Nathan! I've never heard a Elton John song in my life and I think this was a great way to open my ears! Your music seems flawless here!

  • Thanks a lot. This helped, I just to be so confused, I understand the programme quite well now, thanks so much!! :)

  • is this fl studio 9 or 8 fruity loops

  • thanks man! because of you i've learned something that you didn't even explain

    great shizzle, 5 stars

  • how did you get the original instruments out of the John Legend track??

  • I didn't...? It's the original track with everything on it. But I made a song over the original, so like if you deleted my instruments, you end up with the original track.

  • silly question but im a newbie, HOW? can i make it so its not 4/4 lets say i want straight 4/4 kicks then go into a fast double kick patter (for instance in a metal genre song)

not sure if thats even the right thing to ask... i dont want to only make Techno music..

  • best program ever done by a woman

  • Uhm, what?

  • does anyone know how to shift a sound from one ear to another. I know how to use pan to make it stay 2 the left or right, but I want my sound to start on the left and end on the right... can someone help please!

  • Very simpel; when your song is ready.. just play it as a song (not justo ne pattern) and before you hit 'play' you click on the record button. Now go into the instrument's channel and when you want it to pan, you just adjust it.. it records it live so do it on the right moment..! :)

  • Yeah man you could do it the way he told you or you could also add an effect called Flangus and set it for Surround Flanger

  • @koulaiyed or jus open the pattern thingie....whatevr instrument u want to pan.. right click the lil knob to the left dat lux llike da vol. nd press create automation clip....wen dat happens.. rite click da lines nd pull them either to the top or the bottom of the playlist...i shuld b uploadin a vid on how to do so in a lil while

  • @koulaiyed

rightklick on the pan-button and klick 'edit events'. there you can draw the pan-level. x-axis is time of pattern

  • @koulaiyed its called balance

  • @koulaiyed One thing I tried was loading the Pan-O-Matic plugin on the Master Track, then recording it back and forth as the pattern or song went on. Or you could right-click on the 'Pan' button and create an automation clip...

  • @koulaiyed a better idea would be to make a panning envelope, look it up, it's pretty easy

  • Your videos are so informative. Thank you for making them.

  • i am also a beginner and i need to ask on where can i get more instruments for my fruity loops and where can i get voice tracks like say from pennywise the dancing clown? help is greatly appreciated.

  • What's the song in the background?

  • I love you. (because of this)

  • It would help lots if you explained the box at the top to change from playing the pattern or the song. Took me a while to find it. :)

  • how to make that sound in the start, between the piano and the 1. verse?

  • Did you made the background song? its nice.

    Nice tut! :D

  • that is not complex at all, that is basic vol 2. But good tutorial, anyways...

  • ur vids are great! thanks for the info bro!

  • u have to go to the fx window on the right hand side it has the columns with dwn arrows on em . click the down arrow and go over (select) and u will see choices of what to do to ur music. near the bottom it says reverb and reverb 2 but there are more things to choose from as well

  • I had FLS for couple of weeks now (transfered from Cakewalk Sonar Studio =P ) and I was kinda wonderin: how do any of u add [reverb] to the instrument, such as the drums, claps, synths, to make it sound like echo fx? Thanks! I appreciate anyone who helps me <3 =D

  • This tutorial shows the reeverb thing!!

  • THank you soo much for forwarding this vid for me Tazzcah! :D Finallie i can make some of that REAL trance feelin lol. Greets =)

  • Hey guys, can anyone tell me, how to change from 16 to 32 notes? - when making drums in FL

  • -select the instrument

    -send it to piano roll

-to the left of the PLAY button and PAT/SONG button, locate the STEP key. it says SNAP right under it. it will say either say NONE or 1/4 step, 1/2 step. or possibly BEAT

-change it to 1/2 step or 1/4 step, depending on how fast you want it.

1/2 step is about 8 beats per measure. 1/4 is even faster, more of a drum roll.

select the paint brush, right next to where you choose bar color.

then just drag and you'll get a drum roll.

  • in the step sequencer, where you make the beat, completely fill out the snare drum, so every step is full. Right click, send it to piano roll.now select 1/2 step, and highlight the beat in the piano roll by hitting CTRL+ dragging the mouse. when they are all highlighted and all changed color, if it was green now it's red, then drag to the LEFT and make them all half sized. now theres a space in between them. while the bars are still red, hold SHIFT, and drag left and put the extra bars between.

  • those two posts are seperate methods, I just ran out of space to explain. the newest way is easier to explain at least. I hope that's what you were asking aigh peace

  • Also I ment to say at the end you have to drag right to fill out the roll.

  • where can i download that remix of your song? its fucking awesome.

  • i have one quick question. when your putting sounds in the sequencer, is their a way to cut them and just make them stop playing at a certain part?? does that make sense??

  • to stop a key or string send it to the piano roll and shortin the note.

  • say youve got one beat you want to use over and over again for a while. now i play it and it loops fine, but when i go to record it only plays the beat for one measure then stops. how do i copy it so it goes on for more then one measure? please answer!!!

  • Bring up the playlist. Go to view -> playlist.

  • all those little squares on the playlist, if you click each the highlight and the will last longer. Sorry about my english

  • Great tutorial, I bet it inspires a lot of people to produce some nice songs, at least it made me want to try out FL again :)

  • crap song crap remix, but very good tutorial, cheers bud

  • The song is great! It's like.. one of the few new rnbsingers who got soul! and he's also a great songwriter

  • yo i like da vid

and what u did 2 da song

  • i found some good info...thanx

  • can someone tell me where i can get more packs/sounds other than just the preset packs that come with FL? Thanks :)

  • torrents, p2p

  • thats a beastly remix good job

  • who sings the song in the background?

  • John Legend.. song is remixed and is P.D.A.

  • can u make a song 4 me on fruity loops?

or at least tell me what i need to make the beat

its a song from portishead called "strangers"

    its the solo guitar part

about 28 seconds into the song

o and cool tutorial....got a lil farther but not alot

  • It isn't that hard, try to find the same base, bass, hi-hats that sound similar to the original. Then you do a variation in the beat from the original song.. Trying is the best way to understand the program and learn making cool beats yourself. :)

  • nice Tutorial, do you have more "hard" stuff to leanr?

  • i cannot for the life of me get the playlist to show different patterns. its so frustrating. i dont get on part 3:29 he gets his playlist to look like that? i have stuck on this for weeks. thanks to anyone who can help

  • Please can anyone help me??

I don't have no nice gray blocks in my playlist!! (Like @ 3:30 in this movie!) Now I got those stupid glass things with dots or lines in it!

  • I solved my problem :) just needed to click with my left mouse button :p

  • this shit is mad hard to use

  • very nice tut mate:) keep up the good work

  • got it, live mode.

Still cant change the piano roll back to beats though in the pattern.

  • Hey.

How do you play all the patterns at the same time?

How can i convert the piano roll back to the beat view?

  • Thanks for the tutorial, its explained really well! Iv started making my own beats now...they sound crap, but you gotta start somewhere! Cheerzzzz

  • Thank you very much. Great video, clear instructions...excellent.

  • can you pleas show to make t.i.'s new song a better on fruity loops thank you :D !!!!

  • this video has helped me out the most by far than any other! Thank you soo much!!!!!!!

  • can anyone tell me where can i find the compressed piano plz??

  • it's under FL Keys. it's a plugin preset.

  • y0o no doubt

i love this beat u made

  • thank you maaaaan!:)

  • another good tutorial man helped me alot

  • I'm wondering how to loop a loop. Like those that aren't one single instrument sound and its over, how do you get a sample and loop a lets say 10 second piece of music? It's driving me crazy!

  • just loop all the instruments that would be in the loop :)

  • well basically u just take the loop and drag it to the bottom of the playlist which is the area you sample at. then u just use the razor-like tool at the top of the playlist to cut the part u want then u basically can just copy and paste that loop down there as many times as you want...i hope you got the gist of that

  • You've made it very clear how to use the patterns, which i was racking my brains about! Thankyou. Nice song by the way

  • Good on ya mate, youve made it really easy to understand and helped alot, thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial, your a champ!

  • Hey nice tutorial but you seem to be getting plenty of useless comments. I like your use of screenshots with text, i find it easy to go through the video and find something I missed or pause it when needed and its probably less work for you this way so keep it up!

  • nice work

  • Hey. Does anyone know how to merge 2 Fl songs together? I've been using FL for years but never got it to work how i want. Cheers

  • Very helpful

  • Well. I just downloaded FL today and was trying to look at a bunch of tutorials 'cause I was completely lost. Anyways. I got the patter thing down and the presets and blah blah blah. However, I was having problems putting everything together so I looked at your "basics" tut and this one. Finally, when you said "Double click on the green pattern box" it was literally a moment of epiphany XD (angelic chorus and the background and all) Thanks :P

  • the song rox...

  • is there away in flstudio to record beats from the mpd with it being effected by the tempo? please answer

  • appreciate the info. definately helpful. the basics was a good one too

  • thanks for this video, in ur first "Basics tut" i was wondering how change patterns, this video help out, thanks again. =)

  • Thank you. This movie shows how to add patterns to a playlist.

  • Thanks again for the tutorial!

I Was just finding tutorial where its explained how to add patterns into playlist, and now I found out it from this tutorial.

    Thanks!

  • Learn to read

  • Yes ... Maybe he can't read? :P

I like your Tutorial Very Much!

    Thx Man !

  • Nathan its not that he cant read its just he is noob and its easier if you are noob and just started with fl studio to just see images on how u do but im holding with you you cant just show images ...

  • Nathan, Thank you! After watching parts of your video it gave me hints and i figured out the basics of fruity loops and how to loop parts and put together a song! now i'm pro :) (well kinda). And if you want to explain using video, use camtasia, its great! PM me if you dont have it and want it.

  • waaaa i Use for Dance music.

    different pattern using than you.

    work about 60 pattern to 100 sometime ! ^^

    nice work, cheerz from paris

  • My pc isn't that high-end.. :P

  • in your pattern sequencer u gotta go to the top and click on one of the drop down menus....and make sure u have snap to gird selected...that way you wont have any gaps

  • I absolutely loved the backgroud music. You better upload the track somewhere soon, mate. ;D

Oh,... yeah,... the tutorial was nice aswell.

  • Do you know how to import vocals as a pattern or effect? Ive been messing around with it but I have a wav/mp3 vocal clip that i want in there and i dont know how to import it.

  • search trough the reactions on this vid, and the other (basics tutorial).. I explained it a while ago. There aren't much reactions so you'll find it in a few seconds. :)

  • good turorial, thanks!

  • I have recently got to grips with FL, and have posted a track up on my youtube. Have a listen and let me know what you think :) I was searching for help on how to sequence, hence me finding you here hehe.

  • I also recommend screen video capture, not sure which one is the best one, but it makes a video of your screen. Some of them you can get follow your mouse around the screen, handy for little buttons on this.

  • Video capture like fraps or something.. might be an option. But I get positive reactions about having screens and text so I might hold on to that concept. But thanks for the advice. ^^

  • My comment seems blunt, sorry, not much space to write in these. When you explain things in the text, it covers all the screenshot, it would be cool if you could cut and paste parts of the screenshot in photoshop (I can help you out there) and have the writing seperately next to them.

  • I want to make a new tutorial so I might contact you about that. Thanks!

  • White text over white blocks? music you can't concentrate to? This isn't much help :( I advise that you show the very basics using more screenshots, simply putting pics up of the windows you have and then putting a wall of text over them just makes me search youtube for more ;(

  • There are a lot of peeps that find this tutorial handy so I'm sorry to hear that it didn't help you.

  • thats nice ;)

    check my beat ;)and comment

  • this isn't hip hop

  • This remix is dance. The tutorial is r&b, not hip-hop

  • yeah, this is more disco than hip-hop, sorry to break it to ya man

  • And? If it's disco that sounds okay, what's wrong with it then?

  • well, its just that he wrote "How to make R & B and Hiphop music with Fruityloops?" in a super "I'm so rugged" font. Seriously. Do you even know how to make a basic hiphop kick sequence?

  • And? you can see the tutorial with no sound at all so what's your problem.. It's friggin' background music. I hope you learned something from the tutorial itself by the way, as that is the main reason of watching this clip. And uhm, I'm not saying that the remixed song is r&b. It's dance. Just thought it would be fun to let you hear.

  • hey, would be great if you could show how to use the peak controller...

  • I don't use the peak controller and never did, actually.

  • can anyone tell me if i need a midi interface/sound card if i want to record music from my yamaha keyboard to fruity loops? i just need to know if its neccesary to buy a sound card or not.

  • noo you juss need to hook up a keyboard via midi

  • i got a question.. can u make all this stuff like the track u made with the default samples you get on fruityloops? where can i get more samples(do you recommend any), and lets say for the vocals, where can u find samples for that stuff?

    thanks

  • Thx

  • Informtive but that song just distracted me from learning so I watched it again in mute. Thanks, but next time no music, unless you're DEMOing what you're doing.

    Peace

  • ok thanks dude you showed me the reverb thing thanks
