  • ugly horse :/

  • @Jessers4Ever That horse is gorgeous and talented. If just shows your ignorance if that is the only comment you can make on this video.

  • Horse is a lion hearted partner!

If you want to be biologically correct, it is bison. However, Wood Buffalo National Park has not changed it's name. Likewise, people refer to the evening meal "dinner" until someone mentions "The Last Supper". Let's just get along. Excellent video, thanks!

  • that is awesome

  • Hahah wow people are immature! Just watch the stupid video y does it matter whether it's a bison or buffalo!

  • I wonder if people will ever stop bitching about whether its a bison or a buffalo, who gives a shit, enjoy the damn video.

  • Looks like the Mohammed Ali of Horses.

  • correction DOMESTIC WATER BUFFALO are not American BISON of which is in this video. Bubalis Bubalis is the genus of the Water buffalo.. BISON are not BUFFALO.. they are BISON.. go look it up.

  • @YORappaloosa very cool video :)

can i use this in one of my videos? I'd give full credit ;)

  • This horse is a god! Beautiful!

  • That is a bison. How do you mistake a bison for a buffalo.

  • @EMJohnson97 Everyone calls bison buffalo. Bison is the scientific name. People don't walk around calling wolves Canis Lupus!

  • @Cottontail6969 You're a retard if you really think that. The "Everyone" people you are talking about are the idiots like you. In what way is "Bison" The scientific name of buffalo. They are two different animals. The scientific name of Bison is bison bison. There is the american bison and european bison. There is the water buffalo in asia and the african buffalo. Dont try to correct anyone who knows what they are talking about.

  • @EMJohnson97 Get the fuck over it, only idiots who think they know what they are talking about say that. Everyone calls them buffalo, big fuckin deal.

  • @EMJohnson97 You forgot about the australian water buffalo. Guess you dont know everything after all.

  • I still find this amazing. The way the horse reacts instantly, he knows where his rider wants him with almost no signal, incredible! It even looks like the horse and the buffalo are dancing at one point. Thanks for posting!

  • Speaking of Native American, where did you get those buffalo? Please respond, thanks.

  • SON OF WAR CRY WAS A GOOD HORSE TO . DO YOU NO OF HIM ??

  • That was a amazing roll back!:D

  • Bison really don't like being messed with, they get stressed easily. They're not domesticated like cattle after all. I hope these bison aren't used for this too often. Amazing horse, nonetheless.

  • @CamillaCalamity People that raise bison use horses to herd them on a regular basis. While they are not domesticated like cattle, true, they do get used to the horses and being worked by them. As long as the person on the horse doesnt push the bison to hard to fast they usually dont get too excited about it.

  • look at that horse sink his butt down! amazing. the rider barely touches the reins. that's how good the horse is. :D

  • Talk about cow sense. That horse is amazing.

    And gorgeous to boot. ;D

  • I wish my horse cut this well. He's scared to death of anything bigger than a steer. My fault not his. :)

  • Check out that roll back at 0:46 Talk about SMOKIN!

  • im in love with this horse

  • i love cutting!!!!!! i've always wanted 2 ride true cutting horse!!! i wud train my horse 2 cut bt she broke her leg wen she was 3 it healed perfectly bt i dnt thnk her back leg cud stand tht pressure evn tho she can do a sliding stop and whip around barrels like thers no tomorrow

  • I love that horse that is so great and antidallard is a Dooshbag!!

  • You could put that horse in there without a rider! that was great!

  • Whats the point ? Just to stress out a magnificent beast. ?

    Pathetic

  • @ANTIDALLARD

I love cutting and its simply bueaitful to watch like a dance, plus this is from my prospective as an equestrian artist! Not stress, just a way of dominance and horse are just amazing to show their warrior spirit as an animal of history to carrying man through turmoil and battle.

Its respect. By far I see no stress unless the baffalo was in a rodeo.

    Go cutting!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @chriscraft72able Used to? Where have you been. Working the chutes or splitting a herd still requires these types of maneuvers for the working cowboy, who is still very much alive today!

  • @ANTIDALLARD The point is that people that raise bison need to have a way to work them. Or maybe you would like to go out in the pasture on foot and try to get them where they are suppsed to go. And also the point is that the game fish and parks employees that are in charge of rounding up excess bison in Yellowstone, and the ones that have left the park need a way to work the animals, unless again, you want to do it on foot. Quit your stupid attitude and use your brain for a minute.

  • @erintubb OK I get it .My apoligies. But from the outside looking in it does look a bit like some of the rodeo sports and spanish bull fighting which inflict horrendous suffering on poor beasts in the name of sport. culture. and entertainment.

  • It is fascinating, watching these horses who can do this. They move in such bizarre ways. It is my dream to get back to the States and ride a cutter for a few minutes while he or she works. I taught my French spouse to ride and never got to any kind of a high level. It is bred in the bone, the French may be natural horse people, I dunno. Best to you via Ohio and NYC!

  • I'm surprised the buffalo is even tollerating this. They DO NOT like being separated from the group. Their herd instincts are much stronger than cattle's, and they get very stressed when they are handled individually.

  • There are no native buffalo in the Americas. These are bison. Bison are distant cousins of buffalo. It's thought that 17th century French traders and trappers referred to the bison as les boeufs (an oxen) and you can see it might have led to buffalo. How the misnomer came about isn't that important. And I have it on good authority that the bison couldn't give a big ol' bison flop about it either. So I guess that leaves me. Ok fine. Grab the Webster's look up anal retentive, yes that's my pic..

  • lol the horse is probibly thinking get off of my back i can do this without you!

  • OMG this is so cute and funny! I couldn't stop laughing!! LOL!!

  • AMAZING SKILLS this horse has...who cares about the "Bison" or w/e you wanna call them, this horse can cut anything bovine with perfection and ON HIS OWN. I'd love to sit on him for a day :)

  • that horse is so AMAZING !!!

  • Nice app!

  • What a cool boy! Sheesh my appy would have a cow if he came anywhere near a buffalo!

  • That is an American Bison not a buffalo.

  • @Freedom1man That's one of my pet peeves! BISON are in the US! NOT buffalo! Everyone always calls them buffalo!

  • Love the name. XD

  • Omg ike was amazing! haha the buffalo was like " wtf?"

  • awww buffalos are so cute(: nothin like fuzzy lill cows haha xD Ike looks like the Appy I use to ride. Ike certainly is magnificent!! :D

  • wow! dangerous... respect!

  • OMG! I really want that horse! He is SUCH a beauty! And it was all him doing that! Soo cool!

  • oh wow he is amazingly gorgeous!

  • why dont people ride buffalos instead of horses that would be cooler

  • wow! that horse looks like he could do his job without a human! :)

  • Great clip, I would have thought the Buffalo might get peed off and just charge into that horse. Why didn't it? That would obviously solve his problem.

  • damnit, that is one cuttin son of a bitch

  • An Appaloosa and a buffalo. Two Native American icons. Very cool.

  • Dang! That horse is awesome!!! Rider ain't too bad himself! : )

  • We own a couple horses lik him he is verry nice and lol we cut buffalo tooo they last alot longer than cows but im a cutter and a jumper and i must say they r both very fun

  • id be too scared to cut a buffalo. this is why im a jumper. lol

  • @emochick56651 i wouldnt mind cutting a buffalo but id be to scared to do jumping lol

  • @lemonbery in my opinion jumping is safer then this cuz ur not in front of a buffalo lol :P but jumping can be dangerous cuz ive fallen alot from jumping :) anything u do with horse like dressage, jumping, barrel racing, cutting, etc is dangerous.

  • I would DIE if I had to cut a Buffalo. I wouldnt even cut CATTLE. Im a dressage rider and jumper. Lol

  • These horses (Apps) were bred to do this. DNA at its finest.

  • The 25 Buffalo that were cut by this Appaloosa disliked this video.

  • @xavier3961 LMAO I love you for saying that ahahahaha

  • @breyerbabe99 Thank You!!!

  • Western horses are so awesome. So fast and brave. My horse would never ever even stay next to a cow or a buffalo.

  • Very nice video....but once again it proves the value of my philosofy ; make your horse push with the back, let him turn with his front !! Look what the horse is doing !! So don't try to translate the principles of the posh riding school to real riding !!The horse knows how to turn folks....i can't say the same thing about many so called profesionals !

  • looks like my appy :D

  • Comment removed

  • practicing with Buffalo now that just down right weird, buffalo are way bigger and stronger than cattle and can so crush the horse and rider, i would be terrified if I had to practice cutting buffalo I would much rather practice cutting cattle

  • that horse is STUNNING!

I never understood how you could train a horse to do that!

  • man i don't really like appys but thats badass

  • That is incredible. How do you teach a horse to learn that? I'm sure it is in their blood line (I'm not asking to attempt it), I was just wondering becuase the horse is working almost without the rider, I've never seen this before. :)

  • AW! love the app:) looks alot like my appy!

  • Beautiful horse. Stunning.

  • What beautiful stud, great cutter too! Scary cutting buffalo though for sure!!!

  • What an amazing cutter!! My old horse used to be able to due this.

  • Knowing how unpredictable, mean, and powerful buffalo are, I think this is a little dangerous.

  • those are very small buffalo

  • wow that horse is beautiful

  • I had never heard of Cutting horses before seeing this (I am Scottish!). Fabulous instinct and bravery. A horses natural instinct to flee from confrontation forgotten in Earthquake. I love it.

  • o bufalo não pega !

  • such a beautiful stallion..!!

  • Wow. Thats one good looking and good talented horse.

  • that was soo cool

  • This looks like SO much fun!!!

  • whats with the short tail? OH. aha, sorry I just realized it's tied up =] NICE APPY :P

  • Amazing Horse! Roger's a great trainer! Cool Buffalo! Thanks for posting!

  • how do i get his genetics to breed my appaloosa mare?

  • @carliepauls

    Earthquake Ike stands in Texas.

But we also have an own son here in Canada. We do have several young stud prospects available.

I can't write the web address, as then the message won't post.

But you can email me at appaloosa@yourlink.ca

  • this horse has cow sense!!

  • Damn-- What is next? Cutting alligators?

  • @ssmluke Haha, that's what I was thinking.... Buffalo????

  • @ssmluke no! Egg-head.

  • wow that is one nice horse!!!

    im jealous! hahaaa

  • AMAZING HORSE!!!

  • that's a dangerous play

  • takes a darn good horse to cut buffalo!

  • Haha this is awesome! i didn't know they used buffalo for cutting.

  • nice riding for not ever had ridden a cutting horse!!

  • oh my god! with a buffalo I had myself scared of me un especially for my horse than human.! ;) But if an animal is sitting on, then tuen the other animals a yes or no? Well no matter. still cool! excuse but I am from Germany and do not know if everything is correct. A few words I do not know.

    lg. ♥

  • cutting buffalo! crazy! youd think it woudl just run threw or soemthing...i thought they were pretty agressive, cool i lov it

  • I just got a baby buffalo !

  • Nice video, but that's not a good idea with buffalo.

  • Why not? If you can cut buffalo, you can cut anything. Shane does the same thing, and his horses are amazing.

  • OMG that horse is so amazing !! :)

  • thats a nice horse it looks like his dancing

  • Were those young buffalo? They seem kinda small.

  • Awesome appy!!

  • @jsadie97 quarter horses r ninjas they can do anything

  • He's an Appaloosa, but I'm sure you know that.

  • god that horse is pretty

  • OMG we own his brother!! hez 2 and coowy!

  • Awesome! Only an appaloosa would have enough gumption to cut a buffalo! Very nice.

  • Wow I would love to try cutting Buffalo sometime! I heard they can be harder to cut because they smarter than cows. Is that true or am I thinking of something else? Anyway that was great cutting done by earthquake and he is a very hansome horse. :)

  • Beautiful horse.

  • sweet!!!!!!!!!

  • where do you buy a buffalo?

  • There used to be a breeder by my house. I wanted to raise one but the fencing requirement is a pain and they take 2 years to raise.

  • lol omg, I would NOT wana be messin with a buffalo!!! So, how much of cutting does the rider actually do??

  • The rider is a Reined Cowhorse trainer from Canada, named Roger Johnson - so he has done some "ranch cutting" aka herdwork. You can see other videos from him by selecting "More from YORappaloosa" on the right....

  • Oh, the description says he's a "green cutting rider"

  • Yes, he was "green" in the cutting pen. Had never competed NCHA.

  • Beautiful horse! That's really cool! Hey, do you mind if I use this video in my Appaloosa video? I am trying to show everyone that Appies and POAs are just as good (if not better) than other horses, since they aren't judged fairly in shows. Let me know, thanks!

  • YEAH!! :D it´s really cool :D amazing horse ^^

  • Buffalo are highly intelligent, we work calves for several reason. They need to go to a feed lot by a certain weight, the older they are the less money they are worth. The oldest buffalo I know worked by a cutting trainer was 8 years old. Thats amazing!

  • Yeeeeeeeehaw.

    *plonk*

  • this horse os rockin, i used to see his picture all the time in the Appaloosa journal, and be like i only thuoght QH's cut!! I was so happy to see this great appaloosa cutting!!!!I was young back then though, i know better than that now!!!!!!

  • I have never seen a horse cutting mature buffalo! There is a famous cutting horse trainer in a nearby town and he uses small calves/yearlings? buffalo to train his Quarter horses on. I was impressed by that, but this blows my mind! I love my Appy, but a lot of people are close minded "haters" down here in Georgia. Ike is Awesome.

  • Why would a prey animal be afraid of another prey animal?! They'll even graze side by side. Fear of buffalo is a HUMAN projection, not a horse thought. Now if the buffalo were a mountain lion...:-D

  • Nice!

Funny to see that only a few feet matter so much to that buffalo.

  • and he's not scared. he's like a herding dog. he'd jump his ass over the fence if he was scared

  • wow! he's talented. i love how the guy is just holding on and he's doing all the work

  • yijaaa

  • i do see what you mean, and i agree, but im just saying that one faulse move and the horse, rider, or the buffalo could get seriously hurt.

  • omg couldnt you tell the horse was scared of the buffalo? id NEVER do anything like this, the horse could get savaged by the buffalo and the buffalo could get hurt too! i think buffalo should be able to roam free, there such awesome creatures.

  • horsymad100 you are clearly horsemad but not horsesmart!!

that is a horse bred for cutting!! its as scared of the buffalo as a sheepdog is scared of sheep!

    arabs = endurance

    thoroughbreds = racing

    clydesdales = heavy draft

appaloosa / quarterhorses = cutting etc

do you see the patteren? all breeds have an inbred strength / skill/ talent ....

  • Why isn't the horse afraid of the buffalo?

  • That horse is fantastic!

  • did you bred him to be a cutter? hes the first appy i've seen cut. But hey appys are a lot like quarter horses anyway. I had a half appy reiner who had awesome slides.

  • it's very good and beautifull, I like this

  • This is an amazing stallion!

    Congrats on your world title!

  • wow that looks so fun! I want to start training my mare to do that, but not with buffalo haha

  • Cute horse

  • Sorry, but I think you must be confused. This stallion is 9 years old in this video.... already an ApHC World Champion.

  • Cow/reining horses are bred small, trust me this horse is strong enough to carry this man all day long.

  • Yeah but that's like quarter horses, idiot. And i think know more than you becuz my family professionally breeds Apaloosaas and i've ridden them ALL my life!!!

  • I never called you an idiot, I just said this horse is bred small because it's a cow horse. ;)

I ridden horses all my life too and know pretty much everything there is to know about riding different diciplens because I do them with my horse.

  • my family specializes in Appys so i think no more about the breed!!!

  • sooooo many no it alls on here ay

  • neeeds to sit back more in the saddle

  • the man isn't even helping the horse he is just sitting there lol

  • yea ur completely rite a cow sense is a needed thing for a good cutting horse. and buffalo are also a great training technique if ur starting ur horses o cutting.

  • It's funny I've never seen horses doing this, where I come from it is more common to watch "Rejoneo" which is bullfighting with a horse. There are some similarities, but I wonder how will this horse behave in front of a bull that actually charges against it. I think the horse will have to run much more than here. If you are interested in that topic, type rejoneo or Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza an PM me to comment. Thanks

  • I saw this done at the zoo once when their herd escaped. So awesome!

  • ok so when cutting, is it the horse that is doing everything cuz it seems like every video i watch the ride is just along for the ride.

  • very little command is given by the rider, yes.

of course however, some is given also (selecting a cow to cut, actual training, etc)

  • yeah basically when actually cutting cattle the rider only picks the cow then directs the horse a little bit, but the main thing is the horse has to have cow sense to be able to cut.

  • You can tell that horse is well trained, managing to take on an animal larger and heavier than itself with a rider who doesn't know jack about cutting. Beautiful stallion as well.

  • better than a quarter horse! I so wish i owned a appy when i have money im getting one!

  • THAT'S FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!! :) I would be terrified (in a good way), that buffalo was BIG

  • fortunately, buffalo are more apt to run and escape than fight back, unless they are cornered. But I think I have a good, healthy respect for anything THAT big :)

  • Buffalo are so much fun to cut~

  • wow very impressive :) i started my cutting horse on goats and it really helped, ive heard buffalo are even better.

  • very atlethic horse!!

  • fabo horse ^^

  • wow very impressive!! looks like hes doing on his own!!

    very impressive!! =)

  • Love the appys... mine has several years of trail, parade, mentoring, and cow herding. and is sucha womanizer.. bring the girlfriends to meet and he ignores me while they are there, plus he loves novice riders.. he can feel if their balance is off and helps correct them so they won't fall off.. but don't run him.. he has 2 extra gears which are woo hoo and OMG I'm gonna die

  • wery god

  • that is pretty impresive

  • I love Appaloosas! Wish I could cut Buffalo with mine :-D

  • totally awsome. appys have natural speed in their blood like paints and thoroughbreds. and it was ballsy, those buffalo get pissed!

  • he's amazing! it doesn't even look like the rider is giving him cues. i ride an appy mare but she's kinda lazy :) she's great though. yay Earthquake!

  • Oh, he's gorgeous, i love appys, they are so unbelievably beautiful! Love Earthquake Ike - << awesome name

  • wooo! very nice cutting work! ist not comune see appaloosa cutting....NIce!!!

  • I have an Appy stallion too. He's foundation bred...not fashionable. :) Do you use buffalo b/c they wear out in less time than steers? I'm thinking if I put my S/O on a cutting horse it might teach him to sit back. ;)

  • not fashionable???? are you crazy??? foundation apps are wonderful! LOL. Enjoy him, I'm jealous.
