Just because something may or may not cost the same as what western aircraft manufacturers charge doesn't instantly make it cheap and nasty, after all anyone can charge more for a product, this in itself doesn't make it better.
Also we don't actually need all the bells and whistles that western aircraft have to actually fly the thing, you'll probably find something akin to a mid 70's flight deck would be fine today with just INS and VOR NDB operations.
@tannagra totally agree, like most of these haters probably drive hondas and have the nerves to say shit about USSR aircrafts, when infact if they were soo true to N.A. they would buy an american car. One thing they should learn is that Quality is ont necessarily related to price!!
There is no question that using design concepts of other manufacturers is cheaper because you eliminate the high costs of R&D. However, companies that choose to do this tend to be 10 years behind the market and appeal to different customers. BTW, the plane appears to be empty and perhaps this is a spectator take off.
I work as a co-pilot Tu-204, I got tired of having this airplane compared to the S-757. I swear it's absolutely two different aircraft, each of them has advantages and disadvantages and they are different.
@beeroosterm how is this a stolen design? aside from the Boeing 757 it shares no major resemblance with either Boeing nor Airbus similar range aircraft, and even with the 757 the resemblance is minimal. If you want to see a stolen design take a look at the resemblance between the Airbus A320-200 & the Comac C919...
@BOOTUBE123 Ehhh...The Russians stole everything from the US and Europeans, starting with...well, everything. Let's see: farm equipment, airplanes, automobiles, and nuclear weapons for a start. And let's not forget the Concorde/Tu-144 debacle...I don't want to argue.
@beeroosterm Well, von Braun was actually born American, right? WEithout him, Americans would depend on people like you and still could operate at most firework rockets.
@flankerpraha You can't be that stupid....then again, Czechs are known for their stupidity. And our rockets took us to the moon and back less than one year after the Soviets invaded your sorry asses in August of 1968.
@flankerpraha Last time I looked, the mighty Saturn V had "USA" on the side. No need to call my attention to the fact Von Braun was a captured German rocket scientist. The Soviets claimed their post-WW2 Germans and we claimed ours. Happily, it appears the USA got the best of that deal. And remember that the moon rockets were the culmination of almost 25 years of post-WW2 development - in the USA. The Soviets sucked our farts - and so do you, Mr. Brainwashed communist.
@beeroosterm Well, even so long after the war still von Braun was leading mind, without his engeneering skills you could only play with toys. Americans may have money to attract good scientists from other countries, but one cannot say it about your skills :), as for your intelligent design matters and as for your knowing of the world beyond (your borders). Not everything was made in America, deal with it ;-)
@flankerpraha Typical sour grapes comments. I would suggest that you are the person who needs to "deal" with your foolish anger and boring agitprop. Perhaps you should visit and see for yourself what we play with, what skills we have, etc. Perhaps you would like living in a place where you have the opportunity to make your dreams come true rather than badmouthing a country that has given so much to so many.
@beeroosterm Ohohooo, typical US delusion. "given so much to so many". The only thing what you "give" is overegrown selfconfidence as you demonstrate here. Everything was designed in America, everybody love you etc. Funny. Well, to be concrete, if Tu-204 is copy, then e.g. A321 is a copy of the 757, 767 a copy of the A300, or possibly the A340 a copy of the IL-86. Any airliner may be copy of something previous? And why is F-15 not seen as copy of Mig-25 coception by you?
@flankerpraha You're the one with delusions. Furthermore, all you want to do is to argue - which is boring me. And the MiG-25 was/is nothing like the F-15. The -25...is a piece of junk interceptor; very fast for a very short time and using stone age vacuum tube technology. Its tiny combat radius limits its effectiveness; they basically take off, launch a missile, and run like hell the other way. The F-15 by contrast is a well proven tactical fighter with 100 victories vs. no dogfight losses.
@beeroosterm You're right in one thing, I want to argue. In reasonable way about real things, like is Tu-204 so similar to B757? Some more numbers. Tu-204-300: Length - 40.19m, B757-300 - 54.47m. Wingspan - Tu-204 - 41.8m, B757 38.05m. From when Is 14m shorter thing a copy? And the other reason to argue with just you. In fact I really don't thing all Americans are stupid fat burgereaters, I just enjoy making angry morons like you :))
@beeroosterm No matter what you think about F-15, the conception of two engines and their placing, twin tail and general conception was inspirated in Mig-25, which you can find in every reliable source. Kill ratio has nothing to do with that, even with such a score, which is generally only one unverified source (something like in Korea, where if American reclaims would be true, than they would have shot down about threetimes more enemy aircrafts than there really were in service :))
@flankerpraha Please list your "reliable source" that documents the Mig-25 as the inspiration for the F-15 (The west didn't even know about the Mig-25 until after the design competition for the F-15 was initiated). As well, your insinuation that the US inflated their kill ratios has no source. You seem fairly certain that communist aircraft are somehow superior to the American designs but history and properly sourced documents prove otherwise. Once again, it's sour grapes.
@beeroosterm Maybe if you never check other side sources (like real number numbers of planes and so on). In fact, informations from former soviet archives tells completrely different story about Korean war. And, as the participation of soviet pilots was top secret, their information were never made for propagandistic purposes, so, it's very reliable source. Recently I have read book Hunter - autobiography of soviet ace of Korean war Sergey Kramarenko - interesting. Without bad will I recommend.
@flankerpraha I am also surprised at your sympathy toward Soviet/Communist aircraft considering how repressive and cruel the Soviet Union was to your country. As to Korean War air victories, I have seen several websites that document/list confirmed kills by date, service, unit, aircraft, pilot's name, weapon, opposing plane, opposing pilot's name/status, and country of origin. Also listed are unconfirmed claims, damaged but flyable planes, and fratricide. Where are the exaggerated claims?
@beeroosterm Well, for me, there is no communist plane or democratic plane :). Regime have nothing to do with that. Well, you blame Tupolev of copying. He spent all WW2 in prison, from where he and other best soviet engeneers designed and constructed planes like Tu-2 bomber. He if fact never wanted to copy B-29, it was direct order from Stalin. Story of soviet constructors is so interesting to me, on one side patriotism, on other side duty to obey party's orders under death penalty.
@flankerpraha I asked about identifying the sources of your claims - not your opinion on Tupolev or his history of being imprisoned by mass murderer Stalin. Here is the English word for what you are doing: Dissembling. It means "To disguise or conceal one's real nature, motives, or feelings behind a false appearance". Either stop making claims or back up your claims with proof. Otherwise, you're just a bunch of hot air.
@beeroosterm Just try wikipedia, many internet sources (links there), of course literature in czech like Military Airplanes, part 5 (M. Nemecek) and so on. Surprising is that I never met denying of such an obvious fact that conception of F-15 is surprisingly similar. Well, than I want a proof from you that Tu-204 is copy of B757...
@beeroosterm And still, Russians did much more than others to defeat Hitler and they liberated our country in war. Well, west, on the other side, pacted with Hitler in 1938 and offered Czechoslovakia to Hitler in Munich. So Russians were very popular even during communist regime till 1968. But still there is no equal sign between Russia and communism (as common Russians suffered too).
@flankerpraha I give up. You dare people to counter your absurd version of history and then move on to a different absurdity when they do. You are proof positive that brainwashing works...
@beeroosterm No arguments, but mouth full of bullshit, lol. My last advice, learn history, let some people need not to thing you are without basic education.
@beeroosterm Lol, man, really you're gonna be more funny than Saturday Night Live :) But you're doing very bad service to your beloved America, people can think many idiots live there (which of course is not true). In approximate translation what means what you have written: Your mother the fuck cross over. And when you promise you're done (two times yet), than keep the pledge, if you have no proof of your stupid statements.

Funny how people claim that the tu-204 is a clone of the 757, 737 or even a320.
A plane is a plane. All are designed for length flights, all have wings, front windows and rudders.
A plane is a plane. Plus a 737 is a low-plane. has a different nose , and the 757 is more sleek looking.
RainfulPhenix 5 months ago
You can tell that it looks like B737, A321, but it costs $40 millions. And it is only russian project. All planes looks like planes........

How the design is stolen? Why the front windows shapes are exactly the same? And find and rudders?
