  • these songs were released 5 yrs before i was born.. what's wrong with music nowadays? i wish i lived in the '80s. . . .

  • nice to hear this. i had no idea there was this original version. it doesn't compare to the "cover" though. however since that tune is totally played out, it's nice to hear this new/old version.

  • to fast

  • @smbrox or not to fast, that is the question. however, if you do choose to fast, make sure you drink plenty of water.

  • So on NME, Doug was singing?

  • no Robin and Jesse song on both song on Dusted and NME (with Phil giving the occasional back up vocal) Robin here is just singing it weird

  • I find it amazing that they lose their main songwriter and are still able to put out CIS......I love this band

  • I wanna learn how to play guitar just so I can play these songs.

  • Why is it sped up?

  • Was New Miserable Experience the next album after this one?

  • Yes while there was an EP "Up and Crumbling" that featured re-recordings of Dusted songs/ songs to be featured on NME. NME was the next full album.

  • This version of found out about you is angrier sounding but the later version is darker and more melancholic sounding in my opinion, both are good although I feel the slower tempo gives it more emotion. Oh and Robin's singing is better on the later one.

  • I like these versions yes. But found about you is much better in it's slower tempo. Just my opinion.

  • oh and also i'm now mad because this version isn't on iTunes

  • This version of Found Out About You is much better than the newer version which was a single. It sounds so much better with the faster tempo, another song with the same thing was Welcome To Paradise by Green Day, same song re-recorded for the next album but with a slower tempo.

  • Major Suckage!

  • All criticisms aside, this is fucking awesome.

  • so did jesse ever come back after this song was put out

  • I don't think Jesse ever left (not that i know of) He's still with the band today.

  • A little quicker and more pissed off than the album version. The big wig record label bastards must have told them to slow it down and chill. This kicks ass.

  • Nice post, thanks

  • only in my head.....

  • Memories. This is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. Thanks for the upload.

  • My two favorite Gin Blossom's song, and my name is Zach too. Epic

  • always liked this band. i bought the cassette when my 1st grand daughter was born.when she rides with me she puts is own.looks like the apple didnt fall to far from the tree,

  • Doug Hopkins would be 50 next week....he was easily my favorite songwriter, and an awesome guitarist. Thank you much to the person who posted this one, and happy birthday to Doug, wherever you are.....

  • I like this version more

  • When I was a little kid my mom used to drive around town with me in the car listening to this on CD.

  • Amazing songs!

  • This is the original. I remember when this came out. This is was when Doug was still in the band playing guitar. The radio version was recorded later with the new guitar player in Louisiana.

I still remember them on that little stage at Long Wongs in Tempe.

    Here is to you Doug.

  • i used to think they said hey chelsea :)

  • Whipping Post Studios, Tucson, Arizona...late 1980s

  • The faster tempos and rougher vocals here remind a bit of the smithereens

  • Great song, thanks for posting, I cant view half the f'n vids cause the iPad is wack

  • This song is disgustingly 90's.I want to watch friends and play with nerf guns.

  • Wow!! These 2 songs r actualy my 2 faves from this band.=)

  • Lol Genesis take it easy. I didn't dislike it at all, I love this song; and the Gin Blossoms for that matter. Is it possible I got a reprint/remastered version of this? the CD case doesn't disclose that info, but whoknow :^B

  • @zaccds i wasnt accusin man i was just going on what the other dude said and thanks for puttin the original up

  • @Tatopolis5555 this sounds alittle different to me but if you have the original could you send ti to me

  • I did not mess with the tempo. Youtube sometimes dose weird audio things when songs are uploaded though.

  • I did no such thing. The song is untampered

  • @zaccds

Don't worry bro. Us real Blossoms fans know that you haven't tampered with this.

Ignore the fucking idiots like 'Tatopolis5555'.

    Clueless fools.

  • Thanks for your support

  • @zaccds

You're the only one I've found who has uploaded the original Dusted version of Found Out About You. Thanks.

Wish the 2 songs were 2 seperate videos, but oh well. Still sounds great.

  • Glad you enjoyed it. I really don't know what i was thinking grouping the songs together. Since then I've planned to post the songs septate with insight on the songs but due to computer/program problems that has never came to happen yet.

  • @JCashComedy what 2 do, JCC: download to Realplayer, and trim twice with the split a~3:24 in, then you're set

    enjoy

  • I'm guessing your the moron who disliked this song due to the fact your making shit up.

  • @Tatopolis5555

This isn't 'bogus' you silly idiot. This is the original demo version from the 'Dusted' EP.

-Do your research before leaving redundant and uneducated comments. Stupid kid.

  • @iTubeYourDadsMinge WTF? Are you trying to prove to everyone that you are a know it all or something? So what if this dude is not as knowledgeable as some at recognizing the Gin Blossom Dusted album. WHO THE FUCK CARES?

I knew it was the Dusted album... did I call anyone stupid? Fuck No! You need to stop acting like you are smart. Just listen to the fucking song and Shut the fuck up you TARD! It's not your job to educate anyone here.

If you want some more, please feel free to Reply.

  • @Tatopolis5555

    'Audio editing program'?

What the fuck are you talking about? Can you not tell that the dynamics are from a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT RECORDING SESSION? You Sir, fucking FAIL.

Gin Blossoms deserve better fans than fucking idiots like you. Get back to Jonas Brothers, you tone deaf cunt.

  • nice song thats all

  • music is good, lyrics are a bit too "80s'ish" for me. But I like it.

  • Honestly I love it. Awesome. I love to hear what music sounds like before it gets popular, jaded, and adjusted by producers.. That's what they felt in their hearts and souls to be great and what they wanted. Anywho they made money and most importantly they made great music. Not all for themselves but for US...!!!!

  • It's interesting to read comments from people claiming that the band fired Doug as a money grab. Anybody knows that good songs are what make or break a band's career, and Doug wrote the best songs. There is no way they "wanted" to do this. They'd been living together for years, and Doug had major problems. It had become impossible to function with him--the recording of NME was a disastor. So they decided they had to move on without him--the financial details weren't their motivation.

  • Like the guitar in this version of Hey Jealousy better. Great song.

  • He was fired at record company request, signed writing contract but as you plainly hear (Feel) in his songs, love, alcohol and desire all take their price, some pay so much more. I lived Found Out About You, Different situation, but I understand him thru it cause the Music expresses what I felt, like it did him. Who Knows? Do you know?

  • LOL i always thought he was saying "Hey did u ever see" ah well

  • i dont like these vocals

  • am i the only one who hears some husker du influences on this?

  • @kylosius That's probably why I like Dusted better than their other albums.

  • @kylosius it sounds more like The Replacements

  • Can anyone please tell me what kind of guitar Doug used?

  • I read he used a costumed Gibson, not sure what model it was maybe a LP?

  • those were the original versions??

i can't find these discs but i'm glad for listening this songs!!!! thanks 4 upload them

  • I like this versions better.

  • Happy New Years Thorbie :)

  • I love these songs.

  • dang. i like the originals better!

  • ...For instance, about half the time people write comments thinking Doug was the original singer, or that Doug wrote songs that were actually written by Robin or Jesse (go watch "Until I Fall Away" music video). You didn't even know the correct name of the label they were signed to. Instead of celebrating Doug Hopkins music, you are just victimizing him. Oh Doug was great, but the band caused his demise. He was drunk and depressed before the Blossoms. He had problems, stop blaming the band.

  • Thorbie, if you like them that's cool. I wouldn't want to spoil that for you.

  • Comment removed

  • @Thorbie hi MY X OWNED THE BAR THEY WERE SIGNED AT, I HONESTLY DON'T REMEMBER THE WONDERFUL ARTIST WHO WROTE THE GOOD MUSIC, I CAN ONLY TELL YOU HE WAS A TORTURED SOUL AND A GENIOUS. AND I AM A BETTER PERSON FOR HAVING KNOWN HIM. PEACE LOVE AND HERE IS TO A LESS PAINFULL NEW YEAR

  • I got a facebook tribute group to Doug Hopkins you guys should check it out

  • So Doug Hopkins wrote the bands best songs and he put them out in 1989 - had they been produced properly they would've already been played out by 1992 and he could've been on to his new material. NME seems like it was pretty much just a re-release of the 1989 material.

No wonder he was upset and drunk all the time. Who wouldn't be irritated playing the same songs for 3 years and then just going ahead and re-releasing them a second time! Like he wanted to go out & tour with these songs again!

  • @larrymyclown songs actually come out in 87 , they were written long before see the interview with robin here in 1989

  • This is great! It's too bad the original singer commited suicide though. I got to see them live here in Phoenix (They're from Tempe) at Alice Cooper's Christmas Pudding show in December, 2004. Awesome show! Damn Yankees, Cheap Trick, Alice, Glen Campbell, Roger Clyne, WooHoo!

  • the original singer isn't dead he's on guitar his name is jesse. your thinking of doug the original guitarest he is dead. Here robin is singing

  • Zac, super cool raw originals....they sound neat and nice to see what they originally sounded like. However, I like the versions on NME better. After all, that's what put them on the map. Still cool, though....Found Out About You sounds much better at a slower tempo.

  • yep, "Found out about you" sounds better in slow but i like "hey jealousy" and "lost horizon" in fast tempo. they sound really great tho they really are great to begin with.

  • He's not singing, but that's definitely him counting "One Two Three Four Five Six!" in the beginning. Sounds just like Doug.

    Great stuff, here.

  • first off Phill dose the count and also thats Robin singing if you have the cd you can see he and Jesse are the ones credited with singing. Doug is just guitar

  • Doug isn't credited for the lyrics, but it was revealed later he wrote them. Even though it's hard to imagine anyone but Robin singing them, they're Doug's words. Anyone who's ever written a song like this can identity with how much of the writer goes into it, regardless of who ends up singing it.

  • The band made Doug sign over his rights to his replacement of all people when they fired him.

Pushed him over the edge. If it weren't for Doug these guys would be flipping burgers today instead of living off his legend.

  • ok i'm sick of all you negative people. It was the record company that made Doug do that before he made any money. Also The band made little money when Doug was alive. The record company raked in most of the money. Robin says he wished Doug would of stayed on with the band doing somthing else but Doug just left after he was fired from being a guitarist.

  • Yes, I have seen that happen before. I am sure the band wouldn't have fired him if some slick A&R guy didn't tell them it was the contract or Doug. Unfortunately that's how the music business works. Was it right for the band to stand with the record company or should they have stood with Doug. Well that's just a matter of opinion.

  • It was A&M, and Doug was too drunk to play when recording NME. Anyone showing up drunk to work would be fired. That's not just the music business, that's just real life. I'm sick of people posting sob stories about Doug and blaming the band for his suicide. Doug was depressed and a drunk even before getting signed. It's evident in his music. His suicide was tragic, but you can't put the blame on anyone else but him.

  • That makes me lol. Seriously. You're sick of people making sob stories about Doug. I am sick of people denying the fact that the most talented player in the band was pushed out because of money. "Hey, you guys need to get rid of your friend, you know the guy who wrote all the good songs, cause my boss isn't paying you to be nice to him."

Just get over whatever it is you are harboring for the new band and admit the fact. Doug Hopkins was the Gin Blossoms. It's like the dead without Jerry.

  • You seemed to have ignored the rest of my post. I never said Doug wasn't talented. I said he was a drunk who got fired for showing up to work drunk all the time. Anyone who did that would be canned. It doesn't matter who you are. If Obama made speeches and political drunk I'm sure he'd be forced resign. Can't I just enjoy listening to Gin Blossoms tracks without being reminded about Doug Hopkin's suicide? While I appreciate Doug's work I am constantly annoyed by people who know nothing...

  • I joined if not to long after joining facebook

  • @legunncat: that's not actually true. He was suffering from alcoholism, and kept turning up late for sessions, being rude and abusive. I agree that he was the most talented one though; and the way he was treated was shocking. He needed help, didn't get it, and then look what happened. Absolute shame.

  • @zaccds Maybe he wouldn't have "left" if he weren't "fired." They played their hand poorly.

  • @zaccds Thanks for setting the facts straight.. I am sick of people making judgments with the wrong facts!!

  • yeah I am too. They think they know everything because of an article on the internet.

  • is this hopkins singing?

  • no thats Robin singing. hard to beilive i know.

  • yeah...wow.

  • one more question: scotty or doug?

  • thats Doug. this album was recorded 20 years ago. long before scotty joined.

  • yea, i figured...awesome, how do you have all this stuff? i love the gin blossoms...where can i find it?

  • zaccds- Thanks for posting all these. Great to hear the 'Blossoms as they were blossoming. :) Pun intended. They already had a raw kind of sound in the first place, and this early album compliments it even more I think. I always like it when bands record multiple versions of the same song (through demos or alternate takes or whatever), though of course only one version can end up being "the" version. Thanks again.

  • Yeah I picked up the cd! you gotta make one of just Hey Jealousy andf it would get more views! thanks again!

  • im working on the video with just HJ with pics of the band and some insight. just havent put a lot of time into it
