Hey I have a 152 aerobat , and realy she does fantastic aeros cuban 8's ect
The kicker is that you need to fly the aero's very accuratly and manage the energy ...any mishandeling and she makes you look bad .. probably because you are bad.
for this reason it is more difficult to do aero's in an aerobat and if you you can do good clean aero's in this airplane you can do aero's in anything
Just some food for thought for the aerobat critics out there

The 150/152 Aerobat is a perfectly fine airplane for an introduction to aerobatics as well as a great training airplane. If it was good enough for Bill Kershner, flight instructor extraordinaire, it's good enough for anyone. This pilot simply mistimed his recovery...but his recovery from the result was fine. You learn a lot from "blown" maneuvers...
FWIW I own both a Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 biplane in which I regularly fly aerobatics and a J-3 Cub...
How the he.ll did you end up going st8 down...?? Could it be the airplane has no business doing much of anything but a few stalls spins & maybe some lazy 8's and chandelles.......and that's it...!!!
Wow. I'm a little dizzy from that. @_@ I'm thinking about taking aerobatic lessons after college. Would be a great experience and learn a little more about the aircraft and the effects it has on the pilot.
...agreed. Get some training in a acro airplane. Do it right. Experimenting with aerobatics are not the right time to find out you're doing them wrong. Usually a big piece comes off.
The Aerobat is an OK plane for learning acro but its not great by a long shot. Aerobatics are much better when flown with stick rather than a yoke. I teach most aerobatics in my Decathlon. The Decathlon is a FANTASTIC aerobatic trainer!
@segressi0n exactly, not sure how someone could think that when it's clear it was still in a stalled state apart from the last recovery bit, nice clip mate ;)
@hondacrxrus Being inverted is not an issue for any plane so long as you maintain positive G throughout the maneuver (barrel roll, loop, etc). "Fully" aerobatic aircraft also have oil and fuel systems capable of maintaining negative G for some amount of time, too.
@hondacrxrus According to wikipedia: "Certified for +6, -3 “g” and had standard four point harnesses, skylights and jetisonable doors, along with a checkerboard paint scheme and removable seat cushions to allow parachutes to be worn by the crew."
@DITMN ...agreed. Get some training in a acro airplane. Do it right. Experimenting with aerobatics are not the right time to find out you're doing them wrong. Usually a big piece comes off.

I've done all of my training in a '78 152A and it's one of the best aircraft in a fleet made almost entirely of 172's for anyone to start in. The operating costs are lower, it's a more basic aircraft and can be put through more.
I'm going to get dissed for this, but after years of flying ultrallights, I went to the local airport to do some aerobatics training in a 152 aerobat. We did all the positive manueovers - aileron rolls, barrel rolls, snap rolls, as well as loops and a hammer head.
I found it dull. all you do is make sure you have the right numbers on the dials, then push the controls into one corner etc.
Very strange because I fly/own a Cirrus SRS (called FK14 POlaris here in europe) and after a number of years of flying it, i also went to a local airfiled and did the same as you on a Cessna 150 aerobat. It is sure slow as a donkey and very heavy, but i loved every mn of it (although I felt sick). i am now doing a PPL...
aerobatics is not dull at all, on the contrary it teaches you to be precise and have a good feel about the plane.
I love it when Microsoft Flight Simulator geeks think they know about flying, and then decide to diss 152's, 172's etc. They are by far the best training aircraft in history. True pilots love and respect these beautiful machines.
P.S
Hey tommoger that rant was aimed towards you incase you were too retarted to understand that, which you probably are.
You can't be serious... most pilots refer to Cessna's (150/152's and 172's) as Spam Cans... and they are called that for a reason. Good training a/c sure... good for travelling, aerobatics, or carrying a good useful load... no.
@daniel69ok actually they are good for training aeros, nothing better than training in something underpowered, u actually have to fly and recover form manoeuvres
@daniel69ok Funny. I could carry quite the load in my 182, short-field takeoffs/landings were a snap. Sold it when avgas topped $3/gallon to stay (and go higher) and bought a 172. Since it's just my wife and I, no problem. We've flown that airplane from Texas to the northeast, southeast, midwest and everywhere in between. STC'd for autogas, IFR equipped and at 7.5 gph with 110TAS, it's still twice as fast (or faster) than driving and with far less stress. You sound like a renter.
@AndrewRice20 ya totally have to agree with you, I play flight sim but I also am training for my ppl and have been training in mostly 152's and 172's, they are both great aircraft and I love to fly them!
@AndrewRice20 I am a pilot and I think spam cans like 152's and 172's have made people think they are pilots. Gone are the days when stick and rudder meant something. Start people off in Citabria's and decathlons and 170's and we would have more "pilots" out there. I am actually talking about the quality of the airman not the amount of people that fly.
Why would you snap roll a 152A? Because it's approved in the Flight Manual, and they are so unbelievabley awesome! It gets the roll rate up to about 150 degrees per second, maybe a bit less :)

go take some lessons on how to read the flight manual about NOT doing aerobatic manuvers.
then take a lesson on the FAA regulations about careless and reckless flying.....then go burn your license cause you're an idiot.

It's pretty impossible to tell anything from that angle what it was, try holding the camera out at 45 deg azimuth to the plan. Pretty sky though.
