that intro to the solo..the stretch part is a bitch..I have to angle my guitar almost verticle to give my fingers the leverage..its quite the stretch especially descending keeping that strecteched position..the rest is ez shit. If u watch Ed do it he had to do the same thing..but also doing it that freakin fast is a bitch

@shreddinjoe ... LOL yeah the stretch lick is tough to do without bringing the guitar in close or changing the angle... basically, I brought a stool in the room for this one and put my leg up on one of the lower posts so I could rest my guitar on my knee.

@77dragonslayer ... I haven't played in a real band since the early 90s. However, I have some videos here on YouTube with some "virtual bands." We basically record all of our parts separately, and then edit them together.

@PompitousOfLove15 ... I learned via an old songbook (with tabs) that I have had since the 80s. Tips I would recommend are: 1) slow down the song and practice it at slower speeds, and slowly increase the tempo as you get more comfortable (there are features in both Windows Media Player and Quicktime player that allow you to do that); 2) for the stretch part, it helps to hold the guitar a little closer to the body.

i own every van halen album between 1978-1988, their prime years

i just wish i was old enough to expierence these outstanding solos live.

Funny you say that, because when i say them in '07, i was sitting right next to the stairs to the stage on the left next to Eddie. And a guy pushed me over, jumped the little wall seperated floor from riser seats, and went straight for Eddie! At least 6 security guys took his ass down and dragged him out. Funniest, and scariest thing i've ever seen.
