mr.Robboxer, thankyou for the instructional video, however, I think your cardio is horrible and just from watching you I think you might be at risk for CVD; Im sure you think im nuts right about now but I think you might need to incorporate fish oil/flax oil in your daily diet as well as up your diet tremendously; if im out of proportion than plz tell me why does it look like your out of breath after doing half a set or throwing a cpl punches? daily drinking? genetics? mary-j? all of the above?
@ MrDnilsson.. 4lb balls are best for spped, that's like a 10lb ball, I was using a purple jump stretch band for the strap, you can also use a canvass bag and put the med ball in that, that works better and we use that at my fight school, lighter balls are better for explosive speed.
@EvilPaul24.. Thanks and you're welcome to stop by my gym anytime.
@robboxer - thanks for the tip, i'm currently doing collegiate amateur, and at my wt. class (132lb), my punches lacks explosiveness or I lost it over the summer. So I really hope this works. I'll stick with the 4lbs. (I was interning in a different town and there was no gym near where I lived and worked.)
I have some questions though how long should I be doing those exercise? how my repetitions/sets? Does the 4lb apply for throwing medicine ball against the wall? I feel 10-15lbs is reasonable.
This guy obviously does'nt know whay he is talking about because George Foreman would throw a sissy punch and that punch sissy punch would be harder than any UFC fighters hardest punch. So if your are not born a hard a puncher you might as well do what this guy is telling you, though it won't get you Tyson power or Foreman power.
@MultiGreat1 so your saying that a clean FULL force rampage/carwin/fedor/whatever punch is weaker than a simple pussy punch from foreman? lol, don't think so bro.. foreman is legendary but he aint no superhero
@MultiGreat1 It's hard to argue with that, but I think your exaggerating a bit.. it would mean that a weak sissy punch from him would be an instant brutal mindblowing knock out.. which is not the case. so i have to dis agree ..
@Jim2529 what i meant was because Foreman was a terrifying puncher he was not a explosive but a heavy puncher so he does not need to put bodyweight he justt flicks his arm and heavyweight is on the floor out when he is wearing 12-14 oz gloves, with 6 oz it would be like 1 shot 1 kills lol.
You are not giving the current top athletes enough credit by saying they cant even compare their most brutal right hook/straight to foremans jabs or punches.
Foreman may have had the strongest physique ever among fighters, but he was still very much physically comparable to the top athletes of nowadays.
I think he may have had something like 120% of the power in his punches compared to the hardest hitters now.
@kwalla187 the hard hitters today are nothing like Tyson, Foreman, Shavers, because now all these guys use weights and seem to think they are big punchers when infact they are'nt. And what the hell do you Foremans powerwas 120% wtf is that meant to mean.
@MultiGreat1 this is the same arguent that takes place with everything. cars nowadays dont compare to yesterdays, music nowadays doesnt compare to yesterdays, fighters dont compare to the fighters of yesterday. the list goes on and on and fucking on and its been beaten to death time and time and time again to the point i want to rip my fucking eyes out i read it so fucking much
@MultiGreat1 and besides venting i will point out. foreman and tyson did use weights. infact tyson was know to train basically like a bodybuilder. and he stopped fighting less than a decade ago. so you can stop with the retro shit
@MultiGreat1 youre going to tell me a foreman jab is harder then carwins hardest punch? see this is why i want to rip my eyes out when i hear these hypothetical "whos better then who?" arguments that come up constantly
@MultiGreat1 no he doesnt...why would you think that? carwin has a way higher knockout percentage then carwin you fucking dumbass. not to mention hes a heavyweight with some lunchbox fists whos way bigger then rampage. carwin is known for his devastating strikes. rampage isnt. case closed
@thegamgi go and fuck your mother you son of whore, your weight does not define your punching power all the time, mma punchers are nothing like boxing punchers, you cunt. fucking pig.
@thegamgi nah i actually know it, i have been hit a by a heavyweight mma fighter, british champion who is known in the mma for hard punching, and half of the guysat the boxing club i go to hit harder than him.
@thegamgi ok if u think i havent you have the right to an opinion even if its stupid, you know everything, no one can teach u cause cause you know what they are going to say before they say it.
your not working your rotation, second law of physics every action= equal opposite reaction the balls own inertia is pushing it back to the other side not ur hips. Use a medicine ball get in sit-up position and swing it from side to side that will give u rotation. Goodluck not a bad video.
@muradpervez You focus on using your core to swing the medicine ball, not the arms, It's about keeping the momentum and exploding your core rotation aka technique in the exercise.
Lippert. . . do shoulder excercises and you wont have to worry about that, second of all his technique is well developed, and has the ability to over power any opponet he come in contact with. . . However, One vital key the mentality while under the gun, train yourself to take hits, expect the unexpected fast but full thrust blows, and technique and you will be unstopable.
@isitcosimblack That dude trained me last summer and taught me more shit about fundamentals and punching power than I could have ever imagined. Earings dont mean shit, that's just his swag. He was a multiple gold glove ametuer and fought pro at heavyweight. Rob would fuck you up my man.
@isitcosimblack You right, I never seen you fight so I can't say nothin' bout you gettin' fucked up. But, don't sleep on that white boy. Like I said, he was a pro and a heavyweight who runs a real nice shop over there. I've seen him go and he is hard to hit, he got a serious beard on him, and his shots are straight and stiff.
By bouncing the ball off the wall and using the momentum of the sling, youre taking away the maximum effort needed to rotate.
This exercise is wrong. When you punch, you dont have the assist of a sling and the wall to stop you. When you miss, you have to use your whole body to stop the punch and your whole body to rotate back to the original position.
Rotation helps power a lot, but this exercise is wrong.
When you hit the wall with the medicine ball it bounces off the wall, and the quicker you do it the easier it gets. Plus you could you could injure someone, especially when stopping. or damage the medicine ball/wall by doing this. or your spine.
Belly muscles can be developed by holding a heavy object in your arms then use your belly to rotate your upper body left and right.(similar to this video without hitting anything)
It's easy to just teach pivoting with the feet. You also want to push off your legs. You can also use a Kettle bell if you don't want to buy a medicne ball every week and least but not last many punchers are born with heavy hands something that can't be taught. I have worked with many kids and you can teach these techniques but if there fist are feather fisted there ain't much you can do.
So how would u use a kettle bell for this? I am seriously interested just got into kettle bell training, are there any good youtube movies u can recommend mate?
would it be a problem for me to wrap a tree or metal pole with a foam pad and use that as a punching bag?
i dont have access to a normal punching bag, and one concern is because the pole or tree wont move as opposed to the punching bag which will at least swing.
I think it's okay. When your hitting a bag you don't want alot of swing. If it swings alot that means your pushing your punches and not snaping them. When you hit the tree just move around it,side step. I have hit tree's with Pads the only problem is they wear gloves quickly
lol well just be sure you wrap your hands and glove up before you do that cuz since there isnt any give if you hit it wrong youre going to fracture a bone in your hand almost guaranteed.. if youre gonna be hitting something like that make sure youre not going all out and swinging wild, try to only use it to develop good inside shots, straighten your hand out so your knuckles line up with your forearm with the elbow at a 90 degree angle and give the tree a good snap inside body punch lol..
The exercise he did looked like a tornado ball move which is a awesome excercise. I usually use a medicine ball with a basketball tied into a basketball net with a attached rope
I've seen a few of those handled excercise balls at a local walmart but I never felt the need to pick one uP UNTIL NOW
