What is especially interesting about this version is that Scott takes the first solo and, consequently, takes the main solo from 4:14 onward. So Snowy only takes 2 small breaks, the 2nd and 4th of the tradeoff. Scott always plays 2nd fiddle to whoever else he is playing with, especially on this song. But during Snowy's tenure, Scott would always play the main lead on this tune, even in other versions with Snowy that I have heard (Rock Palast, etc,) Evidently, Snowy was pretty sorry.

You guys do realize that this is Snowy White & Scott Gorham on these Hammersmith Odeon Tracks, rite? John Sykes did not come into the THIN LIZZY Band / picture until the Spring of 1983 as he was introduced as the New Band member on the Hitchin, England .. Rock Masters Live DVD & *Thunder & Lightning* Tour Opening Show. Snowy White toured 1980, 1981 & 1982 as Scotts partner in crime so to speak, Just so we get it rite, rite? Greg/SpeedRacerX01@MySpace.com.
I love how he's a bit unprofessional (which he's entitled to) saying he first won't play whiskey in the jar and then not waiting for an alibi and would the crowd not much rather hear emerald (and he sounds a bit rough around the edges). But as soon as the song starts he NAILS IT not a note wrong. Wish i could say that about other rock bands
Look at that....one year ago when I first repied to this, how time flies !
Sabfan, you are a legend, I feel so sorry for those that didn't see Lynott live. You have posted so much that helps keep Lynott alive, we all owe you so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Live Life Album Version. Got it ALL Autographed. Very Nice Post.. Thanx BlackSabfan Saloncha = Cheers .. Gaelic.. Long Live 'LIZZY FANS' that Help Keep it REAL/Alive For those that wern't Alive yet to hear it in that Time.
Seriously you have some great tracks man and your right the sound on life is crap shame cause theres some great performances on it I hear Phil insisted on producing it himself is that true?
If you don't count the Live at Reading disc, which is an official disc but is out of print. Some gracious soul uploaded the entire thing on YouTube and also seen it as a downloadable torrent. I've also seen actual copies fetch a couple hundred dollars online.
Well done for posting this! This is absolutely brilliant. My favourite version was with John Sykes on the Thunder and Lightning 1983 tour. This is stll amazing though, well done for posting this.
Those 10 tracks are from a BBC FM recording which actually aired the following February after the dates in Hammersmith Odeon. I'm not certain, but I think it was supposed to be officially released, but for whatever reason it wasn't. Some of the tracks ended up as b-sides. The versions of Renegade and Killer on the Loose, which were on "Life", were taken from White's time in the band, so they might be the same, but either way, the production on "Life" sucked compared to how these sound.
Brutal! Thanx for this bro :-D

Still one of the most bad-arsed riffs ever. It sounds like something major is about to kick off.

Yep. Scott Gorham said it sounded so bad to him that he only listened to one side of it, and still has never heard the second.
blacksabfan 3 years ago
I wonder would it be possible for a talented sound um person to remaster it?
SeChabal 3 years ago
Which is really sad, since it's Lizzy only live album featuring Sykes on guitar.
