This dissolve effect from 0:22 - 0:24, and the cut between 0:56 - 0:57 are my favorite moments in this scene. It's just beautiful on every level, IMO. We all have those moments when we're captured by the film we're watching, something that warms the heart, and those were mine.
This film really speaks to me. How genuine, and realistic it is to life. And I'm timid to admit that I'm a girl whose Harold's age, but am infatuated with a man whose 35 years my senior. And although this is a peice of fiction, it gives me hope that I may possibly have a chance to share my feelings with him, if he returns them that is.
Thank you so much for posting this. It is THE most profound scene from any movie, ever. I've seen "Harold & Maude" a million times, and I'm moved each time.
My favorite movie of all time. I've loaned this movie to maybe a dozen people. To my great disappointment, only a few actually "got it". This is a perfect movie. Thanks for posting my favorite scene.
@BabyShugz you HAVE to see this movie....and dont watch it on youtube......watch it on a nice large TV screen. Probably get it on ebay cheap. This movie may just change your life
Yes! Just watched the film again last night! Love it so much! Fave when she says,
"...I feel that much of the world's sorrow comes from people who are this (points to the individual flower in her hand)....yet allow themselves to be treated as that..(waves her hand to the meadow full of the same flower)." And then it fades to the Veteran's Cemetery in San Francisco. Powerful!

Seeing that last moment on the large screen is breathtaking.
