  • rockin that tamborine!

  • Cannot stop to watch this video and feel intense emotions!

  • @stoneymatthews well, you're forgetting the amazing Rush as well!

  • @stoneymatthews Thanks Canda, for Arcade Fire, but you will never make up for Nickelback.

  • @stoneymatthews what? i think your forgeting how much rush helped make up for them.

  • this makes me kick my legs and do air drums in front of my comp :)

  • they are seriously amazing,

  • @stoneymatthews they arnt all canadian

  • thumbs up if this song makes you want to be Lead Tambourine in a rock band. IM SOOO DOWN WITH THAT

  • i just came here to watch the video. but i saw a commercial for the SMURFS movie. which looks like an exact copy of that Chipmonks movie. wtf mate. gotta ruin the smurfs for me... i never liked alvin so i was ok with that ..... but cmon... is a snorks movie in the making next??? hahah

  • @stoneymatthews Funny, I heard the same thing, only it was about Drake

  • Radiohead and Arcade Fire are both divine musical experiences!

  • Just incredible, a wonderful song

  • wow, just timeless & incredible music

  • 1:58 Does anybody remember? Ian from smosh :D

  • I admit that I got into Arcade Fire after I saw the trailer for Where The Wild Things Are but my god, I never believed that I would find a group (besides The Beatles) that is so untouchable. Every album they released is greatness and I just cant wait for what they come out with next.

  • ;)

  • What is the name of this beautiful face in1:13?

  • @aisteram I believe that is Will Butler, brother of Win Butler, the lead singer.

  • @aisteram I LOVE Will. He's always so enthusiastic no matter what instrument he's playing.

  • First song on the debut album. And yet, I can't think of another song that gets me like this one. The first line can make me cry by itself, such a beautiful song.

  • @mildale It is a beautiful song indeed, real emotion.

  • love is acceptance, definitely. Yet, I prefer the Arcade fire!! They're tremendously talented and soulful. Thank you guys, I can't wait till the next album

  • What's with the whole. Making up for anything. I mean sure, the Canadian groups that usually go big aren't what I accept of our country (Canada). But everyone believes music is one thing. & if It's not that one thing It's not right. Arcade Fire is soulful, and gives us life experiences through their own. Can we accept that music is universal. & What is un-liked by us. Is loved by many others. Music is love. & love is acceptance. That's what I've learned from Arcade Fire.

  • A lot of people are replying to that @ColbyFoote guy saying that radiohead make albums on par with arcade fire however I still think AF have more to prove until they can be put on the same level as radiohead.

  • Woo heard them at kansas city concert live

  • I usually hate to listen to bands live because all the shine is taken off and most bands suck live... but oh my... Arcade Fire live would be one hell of an experience.

  • All I have to say is I really want to hear them live, I'm thinking I won't be disappointed.

  • fuck american express! :D

  • @stoneymatthews Heh..America has a LOT more to make up for lately.

  • is it just me or is this video not in stereo?

  • I never cry. But I'm not ashamed to say that my eyes watered a little during this performance. I love this band dearly.

  • @stoneymatthews And Rush :)

  • @stoneymatthews Arcade Fire and Deadmau5 ;)

  • this is their best song, PERIOD. it's one of my favorites to play air drums to in my car... makes for interesting intersection exchanges.

  • what I love about Arcade Fire songs. Simple but contagious, and just so beautiful :')

  • win butler = best canadian songwriter since neil young

  • @catfeces He's from Texas, so he doesn't get any coupons to Bennigan's and bubblegum.

  • This and Rebellion (Lies) are my favorite songs by the Arcade Fire. I'm going to be really sad if they don't do those two songs when i finally see them in concert someday.

  • their last album i didnt like, arcade fire has better songs, like vampire forest fire, my mind is a freeway, headlight look like diamonds, but the last album was a total mess

  • probably the best 5:02 minutes of my life. See you in 97 days arcade fire

  • @stoneymatthews don't forget nickleback and celine deon man.

  • I only discovered Arcade Fire a few months ago, and am so glad that I did. Whenever I write, it tends to have the same themes that they sing about. I completely understand, and it's amazing.

  • 4:09 >> Magic,

  • @abbasitareq try the most magical moment in music history.....

  • look up "while the city sleeps - back when we knew", very similar big and colourful soundscapes!

  • COME TO CHILE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stupid youtube fights sigh

  • While Florida guy is just an asshole, what MrBowie said is one of the stupidest things I've ever read on youtube.

  • This song is quickly becoming my favorite Arcade Fire Song. Fantastic lyrics that just purify my mind. In addition, guys stop picking on the Florida guy, he is obviously retarded.

  • So Mr. Florida doesn't like my taste in music, I suppose he doesn't like my religion either. Gee, I'm disappointed.

  • @ McBowie....YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!! You obviously do not know what real music is!! I feel SO sorry for people who think THIS is music. Wow...truly amazing. My eight-year-old granddaughter knows REAL music...Tony Bennett, Renee Fleming, Ella Fitzgerald...I could go on and on with TRUE musicians. This Arcade Fire and other like it.....JUST NOISE to fill the emptiness in your soul. So sad....

  • @FloridaSunShine01 And who are you to state what 'real' music is, or who're 'true' musicians? You do realise that taste is subjective, don't you? Or are you so arrogant that you believe that only your opinion holds any regard or any sway? Oh, and in my opinion, Tony Bennett is just a cheesy lounge singer with a moderate voice, but then I accept that not everybody shares that view, and so probably wouldn't bother going on his fan's videos to state it. What an utter waste of time that would be.

  • @FloridaSunShine01 How dare you talk about "real music"?? you've gotta be kidding RAHHH

  • @FloridaSunShine01 Don't you have something better to do? No one cares about your opinion.

  • @FloridaSunShine01 You are an idiot.

  • @FloridaSunShine01 Hope on your dad's dick, will ya?

  • @FloridaSunShine01 You know what I like all three of the artists you mentioned and Arcade Fire, music is entirely opinion. There's just no point in telling someone their taste in music is bad.

  • I always notice that this band switches which instruments they play during songs, like one minute regine is on the keyboard, next thing she's on the drums and then she's singing a song like sprawl II or haiti. This band is really frickin talented.

  • thank you american express

  • look up "while the city sleeps", similar big and colourful soundscapes!

  • I loved that concert last night

  • @robloxiaman13853 DUDE. it was aamazing.

  • @TheMissStan Were you there?

  • watching this broadcast, and this song specifically, is what got me into the greatness which is Arcade Fire. thank you

  • For som reason, I always think the start of this song is in simlish or something.

  • this song is one cowbell away from being perfect.

  • this song gives me shivers, words can't describe how amazing it is, can't wait until i see them this summer

  • This song has a Pixies ring to it.

  • Can't get enough... ever!!!

  • 13 people have never loved

  • TOO DAMN NICE!

  • Brilliant

  • Its like, pretty much better then the album version... How can that be... Amazing...

  • Best song ever.

  • for every hater, there will be a few of you who listen and find something really special. you'll know who you are. theres magic in these songs. and they've gotten me through a lot. so enjoy the beauty!

  • The only band in my generation that I am proud of.

  • @awbrook uhm, muse, protest the hero, mumford and sons, broken social scene, any canadian indie band. There's a lot of amazing artists today.

  • @akatsukiyondaime2 I'm not a fan of muse. Thanks for the recommendations I'll check them out.

  • Here's a claim to digest. In thirty years The Arcade Fire will be what Pink Floyd was in the 70s. Does any band today make albums on par with Funeral or The Suburbs? I can't think of any. These guys aren't the most popular band out there, but neither was Floyd at all.

  • @ColbyFoote muse, coldplay, radiohead. interpol

  • @ColbyFoote Radiohead in my opinion is the only other band out there who makes albums on the same level if not better than funeral and the suburbs.

  • @tai77 Radiohead is good -but notice that their music finishes as it starts-pretty predictable .. and they have a smaller narrow er sound, whereas AC has many elements in a single piece of music , they also have major tempo and total musical alterations in a single song, and their sound is as wide as the stage.

one performance was a the hollywood bowl.big time money peps ,and as such all tend to sit on their self important asses... AC had them standing on their seats, in their $10K + attire.

  • @redifreddy14

oh god, Radiohead and Arcade Fire are FAAR too different to compare. both are complete melody masters in their own way. Radiohead would never be able to write a song like Neighborhood #1, just as AC would never be able to write a masterpiece like Kid A.

It's like comparing The Beatles to Led Zeppelin. both had completely different goals with their music and completely different styles. you cant call one better than the other. beyond that its personal preference.

  • @ColbyFoote True my man, i'm pink floyd fan, huge one actually, and i enjoy listening to Arcade Fire :)

There is no need for them to be very popular, that would be to commercial :)

  • @henkkaS4 My two favorite bands are Arcade Fire and Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd's my number 1 just cause I love all their songs and they've had more of an impact, but Arcade Fire is an amazing modern band. They're this generations Pink Floyd for sure.

  • @ColbyFoote Porcupine Tree

  • @gogolplex74 no

  • @ColbyFoote I agree, I am a life long Pink FLoyd fan and there music reverberates through new generations as well as mine. I just got turned on to Arcade Fire and love them....(Although I wouldn't quite put them par with my boys)

  • @ColbyFoote I agree. Funeral is one of those "once in a lifetime" albums

  • @ColbyFoote porcupine tree, radiohead... there are a lot of excellent "new" bands making very good music... check Opeth, my favorite band (more metal like :S).. althrogh arcade fire is one of the very best now

  • @ColbyFoote I love arcade fire and floyd...but another band on par with them is Radiohead..just saying bro

  • @shreadhead96 totally agree; i fucking love radiohead

  • @flame0154 greatest band of all time, in my opinion

  • @ColbyFoote I tried to digest your claim, but I threw up.Due to it being a load of BOLLOCKS.

  • Comment removed

  • @ColbyFoote Radiohead and The National

  • @ColbyFoote Arcade fire are good, but I cant see how the will earn a place in history of music, an achievment that both pink floyd and today's radiohead accomplished in my opinion. I hope they 'll prove me wrong.

  • @ColbyFoote i can think of radiohead

  • @ColbyFoote Flaming Lips

  • @ColbyFoote Let's watch Arcade Fire evolve into something great without having to reference another artist, please.

  • Genuine, Real Life Magic.

  • arcade fire fans should look up "while the city sleeps debut", similar music!

  • To put it simply: They Rock!

  • Ive seen loads of bands this year and Arrcade Fie are soooooo far ahead......

  • @Ianseager shove your conceeded opinions up your ass and leave this band alone

  • @Ianseager it's a bit like books though isn't it? They all have some kind of intro, it progresses deeper into the story, there's a climax, then an ending. They may also be in the same genre - but I bet you can distinguish between the ones that are good and those that aren't so good. I think arcade fire has a magical and liberating quality. I personally wouldn't be reluctant to give them something equivalent to the pulitzer. Haha :)

  • @earlgreyitis they just got it... called the grammy

  • @redifreddy14 ooh YAY! how satisfying.

  • 12 people are eminem fans...

  • I gave the Re-Play button AIDS....yeah...

  • Fucking amazing

  • 12 people have tunnel vision.

  • Win wins

  • one of my favorite songs :)

  • love the way the mood of the song transforms from beginning to end. From a melancholic nostalgia to a hopeful optimism seems to be the best way i can describe it.

  • Oh...my... I'm crying... can't believe that... what...

And if the snow buries my,

    my neighbourhood.

And if my parents are crying

    then I'll dig a tunnel

    from my window to yours,

yeah a tunnel from my window to yours

    Just crying

  • Arcade Fire's music makes me feel like a kid again.

  • this songs sounds like a soundrack for a fairytale yet to be written... takes me to another planet even after XXX times i've listened to it. funeral is one of the best albums of this decade.

happy about the grammy!!! congratuations! it's a tribute to all Arcade fire albums.

    keep up the creative spirit!

(we would like to see you in europe a.s.a.p.

  • they reminds me on pixies

  • Every time I hear this song, I think the world is going to end.

  • An incredible group of musicians.

  • ...this band is so versatile almost all of the members are playing a different instrument - oh, and a shit hot song as well!

  • This song is so amazing. I would do ANYTHING to see them live!

  • If I was a songwriter I'd quit after hearing this. Why try and beat perfection?

  • @MrBowie if i was a songwriter i would not quit becuse of bands like arcade fire, i would keep on going becuse of them. everybody needs a rolemodel, if you asked arcade fire i'm sure they tell you they have one and also that they would be sad if people stoped working with music becuse of them. it's not about being as good or trying to beat another band, it's about using the insperation to create your one music.

  • @MrBowie If Win Butler thought like that about his heroes, there'd be no Arcade Fire.

  • Probably the best song ever.

  • @Masteryre almost correct. There is none finer!

  • This crowd is lame, the second I heard that bassline I would freak out.

  • im crying. this music makes me satisfied and full of life.

  • Listening to Arcade Fire is a rollercoaster. A rollercoaster made of chocolate, sex and beer.

  • @Sonik117

    gotta LOVE you!

  • @Sonik117 and weed

  • @Sonik117 and bacon.

  • @Sonik117 and dildos for your big ass.

  • Their amazing music is actually making it snow indoors!!

  • Arcade Fire is all about being a good person. Truly inspirational and amazing.

  • arcade fire are UNORIGINAL INDIE BY NUMBERS. how many "4 on the floor" indie dance "anthems" have you heard in the past 8 years? It's not emotion, it's sentimental tripe. Also, please shoot the maracas guy.

  • @oohahtokyodecadence

hey dude, just interested as to what makes you say that. if there are any critisisms of arcade fire then being unoriginal or 'by numbers' is surely not one of them. Their musical and lyrical talent is so far in advance of just about any 'indie' band that has had any success in the last 5 years. The british popular 'indie' scene has in recent years been dominated sadly by rubbish like klaxons and the wombats. Also, arcade fire are phenomenal live. what do you think?

  • @oohahtokyodecadence

Oh come on -- surely American Express and Volvo wouldn't have signed up as sponsors if this were just banal, sentimental tripe.

  • @oohahtokyodecadence I could tell you with A LOT of musical bases how the Arcade Fire are actually original and one of the best bands last decade gave us... But youtube doesn't give me much writing space for it, so Im just gonna tell you the easiest way possible...

    ARCADE FIRE ROCKS!

  • @oohahtokyodecadence Thats a tamborine you gimp!!!!

  • @oohahtokyodecadence Oh shit, he used 4-on-the-floor! The drumbeat means nothing in terms of the song as a whole, and I've never heard anything else that sounds like Tunnels.

  • Arcade Fire represent everything that is right and good about music. They represent the fact that imitating the known formulas of success in the music industry is not the only way to become successful.

They make music for the sake of passion, beauty, and emotion whilst treating the notion of success with disregard, and have in fact become successful despite this.

They are truly the heroes of modern day music, and we are blessed to have them.

  • A very class band indeed!

  • They are the cure for people who are brain washed by the mass media

  • best band in the world is in a tug of war between my morning jacket and the arcade fire

  • do they make any bad music?

  • The Best performace Live!!!!

  • Sooo, dude in plaid is flipping his shit for 95% of this awesome video.

  • funeral is a great album. I don't know how to feel about their complaints dealing with coldplay allegedly stealing their look, feel, and sound. Thats kinda how the industry works. Regardless I greatly appreciate their works toward bettering music.

  • How did they ever become famous? Normally anything this transcendental would be quickly consigned to the bin to be replaced by the Pussy Cat Dolls or some other worthless pile of %hit!

  • @MrFrontallobotomy They're a rare anomaly nowadays, a band that became famous by being brilliant

  • @lladsbid I thumbed you up because I thought I'd never see the word anomaly in a youtube comment

  • @nicholasgiles "A rare anomaly" is a tautology, so he didn't really use it correctly, but whatever.

It's a fucking awesome song, and I would have sold most of what I own to be there.

  • @lladsbid i would like to dispute this, i'd agree with you back in 2008/2009 but lately the record companies are realising we are wanting to listen to brilliance not computers and they are giving
