Dolphins and whales life cycles are far longer than most fish species. It takes around 8-13 years for a dolphin to be sexually mature and able to breed. Also fish have been very easily raised and bred on fish farms. Dolphins do not do well in captivity and should not ever be taken from the ocean.

The Japanese are tied to the fish of the sea, no one has the right to take that away from them. Its an attack on their way of life, their heritage, their culture, their diet. It's all about competition for fish which has gotten fierce all over due to massive overfishing.

I think we sympathize with the dolphins because they have a smile, but let's not forget that the U.S. overfishes in its own seas and adds pollutants to waters all over the world by shipping its trash to countries that dump it illegally. Not too mention the damage U.S. fishers (and nuclear dump sites such as Hanford) have done to the salmon!

What REAL issue is there? Japan is killing dolphins in Japan. I don't like it, but I'm not going to go kick in their faces for something they're doing in their own waters. Now the whaling issue I can understand since those are international waters and whales have a fairly long maturation period and they don't breed as fast as other species. Dolphins however do breed fairly quickly in comparison. Why force others to do what you want them to do?
