  • Wait, wasn't Sauron the main antagonist from The Lord of the Rings? Not Star Trek

  • He's having some trouble keeping the Plinkett voice on.

  • very funny, still love the movie tho lol

  • Downvote and 'Mark As Spam' all the whiney fanboy comments if ya wan' a Pizza Roll.

  • "suckerrrrrrs!" LOL XD

  • and yet again when they said that they were only 3 light years away from the other ship which would also suggest that they are already at Pluto and also what makes u think that there would be other star ships in range what type of show/movie would it be if the ships only patrolled earths solar system. and yet again the picture u should us of the other star ships where made in the 24th century not the 23rd. and why would the enterprise c,voyager etc be flying around in the 23rd century.

  • @directdog291 when they were made in the 24th. learn ur star trek

  • @directdog291 enterprise d i mean

  • u fail making this video because u said that there should be hundreds of ships flying around well if u remember that they have only just made the enterprise b which would suggest that there in the 23rd century where they have other priority's other than earth like in all other star trek shows. also when they said they would be heading towards Pluto and back they had to have been going at warp other wise it would take they forever to get there.

  • Anyway, it doesn't matter. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Even if those opinions are misguided.

Besides, I know that one day, people will wake up and realize that film is or should I say, art and entertainment is all about the characters on screen or on stage. Unlike the latest reboot shit that was all about the pretty colors and bright lights.

  • @LukeLovesRose And I like the most recent movie : /

  • aligborat, mediocre actors? After seeing some of the guest stars on the original show, how could anyone ever think of any actor in TNG as "mediocre"? What the hell do you define as "mediocre"?

  • I like Mike S. and I think his review here is pretty much "dead on", but Generations is NOT the stupidest movie ever made. No way Mike. Sure it has plenty of stupid parts, but I could name 20 other movies that are WAY WORSE than this movie. Let's start with Superman 4, Batman and R, The Happening, Son of the Mask. You want more? Otherwise, keep rocking Mr. Plinkett.

  • I love your Star Wars prequel reviews.

But, you over-analyzed these Star Trek: TNG movies so much, makes me wonder if you really hated The Next Generation series. Why exactly is the release of the film supposed to perfectly follow the timing of the series? This was set later, after the final episode, IMO. Generations didn't throw in the Worf / Diana baggage, no. BUT, Data and the Enterprise are new.

Anyway, I think you were a little short-sighted in your scathing reviews of these movies.

  • It is pretty clear that he liked ST TNG as a series and hated what they did to it in the movies. I can't say I disagree even though I thought TNG was more of a mixed bag on TV. Even with my lowered expectations, I was disappointed in all the movies. The show just had too many characters and too many mediocre actors and I think this showed in the films even more than in the series, among other problems such as very bad screenplays.

  • I also don't like things that are different.

  • i believe you take drugs man. It's a movie! that's just like the big myths that want hollywood tell us like a car can explode when you shoot it..... you're stupid!

  • I remember going to the theater to see this movie and I considered walking out half way through, I just hated it.

  • I have to agreee with just about everything he said, still a good movie, but didn't make alot of sense in relationship with the tv series, and the Enterprise D Crashed. :(....

  • In that gradient chart thing from the Abrams review, you argued that Generations was the worst Trek movie. It's definitely in the bottom two or three, but I'd say Star Trek V is worst. That one ignores its characters, used stupid forced comedy, and had the worst visual effects I've ever seen.

  • @92chillwill But Trek V had Goldsmith...Trek Generations had...mccarthy...

  • @FishfilmInc Can't argue that Goldsmith's score is a million times better. But Generations, for all its lapses in logic, was reasonably well-made, while Star Trek V looked like a bad episode of the 60s TV show

  • Hey Pizza Roll Man. I have a question concerning your stance in regards to what can and what cannot influence the judgment of a movie. In several of your Star Wars reviews, you make the claim that any additional information that is supplied though the comic books or cartoons or whatever is unimportant because it is not part of the experience and craftsmenship of the Movie, but yet you make countless references to the Star Trek blueprints and ship schematics. What is the difference?

  • @magnus83102

We still know the characters regardless of what kind of ship they're on, that's one.

  • @magnus83102 2 Differences:

Star Trek Generations is the Sequel to Star Trek and Star Trek Generations, so all references he makes is to those shows, like when he references SW:E1 in his E2 review, you dont complain about that do you.

AND 2ND: the blueprints are just to visualize those references, he could have just told us that it takes longer in the tv show than it took it generations but he wanted to go on and on and on and on and on ..

  • @aRnonymous89 "Star Trek Generations is the Sequel to Star Trek and Star Trek Generations"

How can it be a sequel to itself?

  • @armhand97 It can't.

  • @aRnonymous89 The question I am asking is what should and what should not be taken into consideration when critiquing a movie? The issue that the RedLetterMedia reviewer raises in his Star Wars prequel reviews is that a Movie, as an encapsulated, two hour long form of storytelling should not rely on extraneous information (such as books, comic books, video games, etc.,) for the movie viewer to understand what is happening. It must instead rely on exposition and purposeful dialog.

  • @aRnonymous89 Later, in his Star Trek reviews, he goes to great lengths critiquing the differences between what doors the characters are entering and exiting according to the 'actual' schematics of the ship...which I am guessing is found in a book somewhere. I merely wanted to know if he was being inconsistent in the two critiques or if there is a difference between the two examples?

  • @magnus83102 The main difference is that one is based on a TV show and the other one is not.

He could've gotten the point accross just by showing clips from the tv show, but for us to understand better he showed the ships schematics.

and showing clips from the tv show to explain things is the same as showing stuff from star wars episode 1 to explain stuff in star wars episode 2

    thats why IMO its consistent.

  • When I saw Generations for the first time, I had a major problem with Picard being so sappy about the death of his nephew and "family". I understand that the writters needed something for Picard that would tempt him to make him stay in the Nexus, but the idea of Picard being a family man who would give anything to live in a stupid Christmas cliche is absurd and totally against his character.

  • Ultimate passive nerd rage

  • OMG!! THIS IS SO FUNNY!! LMAO!!

  • point nr 2 is soooo true...

    point 4... WIN!

    About the emotion chip.... Yeah...

  • Your review rocks. Spot on facts and funny voice :)

  • Editing in this is perfect, man. Awesome vid!

  • 1:00 LMFAO AHAHAHA

  • funny

  • You are so right

  • There's a thing comin' at us THERE'S A THING COMIN' AT US - LOL

  • In regards to the futuristic photo album, they did the exact same thing when they made Serenity. It's why Wash isn't wearing his Hawaiian shirt, and why Mal has futuristic suspenders. They make movies assuming the audience is borderline retarded and would say to themselves "Those Photos/Suspenders aren't futuristic enough!".

  • At least u give reasons that make sense in this ahem (unlike sw 3)

  • Better than ur sw ones......at least u give reasons.

  • Go fuck yourself CHUMP !! This was a cool movie! You Motha fucka !!!

  • @TheAragonAD Judging from your words I would assume your not even old enough to know what star trek is much less be an avid fan of a movie. Could you perhaps actually try to explain why you think it's cool cause it seems to me it wasn't.

  • @TheAragonAD you are stupid

  • Trekkies: You think this is funny?!

Gene Roddenberry: In a cosmic sorta way, yes.

Trekkies: Well, Mr. Funny Man, *holds up Star Trek: Generations* ...IS THIS HOW YOU GET YOUR SICK KICKS?!

Roddenberry: What? It's just an ordinary Star Trek mov-OH MY GOODNESS! BERMAN!

  • send your hate to an extra solar planet(a real one, not sci fi)your wasting hate on hollywood capitalistica when the earth already has too much normal hate.

  • What's sad is this Trek story has potential, but they found every way they could to fuck it up. I like the Nexus idea, but instead of an energy ribbon, make it some multiple wormhole design. Keep the Kirk sacrificing himself to save the Ent B. Create a better villain than Soran. The ship battles are ok, but no Riker being a retard. New ending needed.

  • @Boogyman4050 it was ok up until the end. Kirk was meant to die alone, he dies with two other people and his last words are "that was fun" fuck off.

  • @Revoltingmachine Yep, just a movie. Sadly, these people see them as a religion and go insane when you say bad things about them..... Kinda like when some one burns a bible... It's only a book..... ;))

  • Now I can't help but think the whole point of anything in the 2nd half was to blow up the Enterprise-D for some reason just so they could get a bigger and betterer ship in the next movie (idk, maybe Paramount needed them to clear the set so they could start work on Home Alone 3 or something)... wait, the Enterprise-B is the ONLY ship in range???!???

  • In defence of the movie RE:different uniforms (about 5 mins in) you DO get a variety of uniforms within the military as there is a gradual transition from older to newer issued kit. At the moment there is a transition from the older 'green' combats to the newly developed MTP (multi terrain pattern) so you see soldiers walking about wearing both. So, to a serviceman the mix of uniforms makes plenty of sense.

  • I still wonder why the hell Picard's WHOLE FAMILY had to die.

  • @aemmel1970 Marie didn't die.

  • Loving review!!! :)

  • Generations isn't great, but it's better than The Final Frontier. I will note, however, that I laugh my ass off every time I watch this.

  • Redletter, You just don't get it, man.

  • @DoUWanna007

    Please explain then

  • @Demendred1605 dude, don't encourage him -_-

  • Why didn't Sauron just take a shuttle and fly to the ribbon?

  • @tcslick420 frodo.jpg

  • LOL...the enterprise is always the only ship in range. All the time. ha ha ha ha

  • poster sounds like he has balls in his mouth.. what a moron

  • @locutus340 Your a moron for thinking it's his real voice.

  • @rotate1950 stfu you old fart

  • @locutus340 No HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @rotate1950 You're

  • @RedLetterMedia

Stop following the George Lucas path, and continuing your disregard and contempt for your audience.

I speak for most, when I say: Get back to Plinkett reviews, and shut down this bullshit, annoying "Half In the Bag" shit.

We understand that you wish to give your 'friends' some screen time. Well, you're giving them way too much screen time. They are not funny or entertaining. They are fucking dead weight and unnecessary distractions.

    BRING THE REAL PLINKETT BACK!

  • @Horoquin First of all, "Half in the Bag" is just as fun and informative as the Plinkett reviews. I like seeing their reviews of different kinds of movies and their con reports. Second of all, his friends help him do the Plinkett reviews. They've all been featured in the reviews or behind the scenes of the videos, so yeah, they contribute to the reviews in their own ways. Third of all, comparing Stolkasa to that hack Lucas..? Really? I think that invalidates your entire rant right there.

  • @superstaff

I thought it was just mainly Jay Bauman helping with writing the reviews?

  • Spock: "Go to hell" xD

  • As a member of the military I know: with any new uniform there will be "Phase-out" period during which both uniforms can be worn. This period can last for several years. this gives all members the opportunity to obtain new uniforms before the mandatory phase out.

  • i always assumed the nexus was outside our system , seeing as enterprise had to warp there

  • My God. He sounds like a drunken Richard Nixon. And I love every second of it.

  • Hey hairy ass plinkett how about a review of the 8 year long bush administration.. We need closure! Goddammit!!!

  • SUCKERS.... ROLF!

  • Is it possible that what we thought was the "chip" was just a case for the real chip?

  • 310 Mark 215 is an over-used vector.

  • If it ruined everything that means this film is the reason why Sonic SATAM was screwed by Power Rangers. It also ruined Sonic's gaming career.

  • Dude Sauron's name was Malcolm McDowell not Mcdonald

  • @TheXand19 Do you really think he doesn't know that? Also it's Soran, not Sauron.

  • @Voidhead A lot easier to get the made up fantasy name mixed up than the real name of the actor.

  • @TheXand19

Dude, he does funny reviews. The wrong name thing is a part of that.

  • 8:00

"Maybe someday Geordie, maybe someday I'll put this chip in my head and laugh at your jokes."

    BWAHAHA

  • PLINKET YOU LAZY ASS FUCKER!! Get your fat ass out off the Lazyboy and make some more danm movie reviews!! Bring back that Ho if you have to,but kill off those other guys and start making more movie reviews or your fans will be waiting in the bushes for your drunk ass to roll home and then well throw YOUR ass in the basement until you start reviewing again! And no fucking BABIES FUCKEN DAY OUT or GHOST FUCKEN DOG!! I mean get real! Do Xmen or Superman,Thor, or Inception,,etc. Get ur act togther!

  • @mlee2001

Cop Dog was not only a joke, but it basically served as a trailer for the Indy 4 review!

  • This review is so fucking stupid. You make the stupidest points possible, and your comments make no sense whatsoever

  • @FoxMcCloud2364

    U mad bro?

  • @TheShadowCookie Nope, just stating a fact

  • @FoxMcCloud2364 So it's stupid because it's stupid? And I'm guessing you think his comments make no sense to you because he uses words that have more than 5 letters in them. Wow kid, great critique. Much better than this carefully constructed and painstakingly detailed hour long review, yup.

  • Suckerzzzzzzzzz. Lol.

  • I think what happened was they didn't have the good direction that Gene Roddenberry could have provided had he lived long enough to see this through.

  • Plinkett sounds so young in this one :)

  • LOL Wow I can't breath from laughter

  • I have to point out that the comment about the movie containing both crews because they weren't sure the new one would be OK with a whole movie, is incorrect. This movie came out in 1994, THE SAME YEAR THAT TNG ENDED. You'd think since they went for 7 years, they'd be able to survive two hours of movie plot.

  • @8frostmourne

They already did that on DS9, Sisko wearing red-black and some other black dude black-red, so fuck it :D

  • Odo's behind it all!

  • Seems like I remember his chip being incompatible with him after retrieving it from Lore or something of that nature. So maybe he integrated it into a larger chip form so it would work better for him (which no it didn't)?

  • This review is so funny because its embarrassingly truthful.

  • When I first watched this (my first Plinket review) I thought this guy must be some kind of idiot savant--like a scientist I know who took too much psychiatric drugs.

  • at 0.15 i was so scared, i thought a Klingon had captured Kirk and was taking of his wig, phew.

  • I don't remember why I didn't like it, but I didn't. In fact, I think I didn't like a coulpe other TNG movie remakes either. If I had to pick one, I'd pick either first contact or nemesis. But I think the tv version wasn't afraid to be cerebral or weird.

  • 0:15 Shatner's hairpiece

  • Agree 100% with this review.

  • "Star Trek Generations is the stupidest movie ever made"

Best opening to any review ever.

  • I actually like Star Trek but you simply can't deny anything that has been highlighted in these reviews.

If i was a film executive i would contact Mr Plinkett before i made a single move to release the film and let him point out anything that is stupid.

He should be employed as a "retarded film aversion consultant".

  • How can ANYONE dislike this? They simply can't handle the truth, that's the bottom line. They are sitting watching this in their Commander Data outfit and can't bear watching as their favourite films in the whole wide world are completely dismantled before their very yellow contact Data eyes.

  • it a movie man

  • "pose for a photo nobody took"

  • it was a fucked bad acting movie

  • this startrek movie can suck my ass this sucked show bad

  • you the man

  • BEST MOVIE REVIEW EVER !!! I CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT LOLOLOL

  • Hey mister, the military transitions uniforms so people can wear both the old and new for a period of time before fully switching over. You sound like my dead wife. I know they have replicators so it shouldn't be so difficult, but recquisitioning contracts require that all uniforms are sewed by hand by Betazoid sex slaves so it takes a while to get everyone their new digs.

  • So why watch a review about a 14 year old movie? Cause i got nothing better to do hahaha

  • For some reason I like the Star Trek reviews the best

  • 'Captain, we're picking up a distress call from the Titanic in the North Atlantic.'

'We're sunning it in the Caribbean, signal that ship over there - you can shout - we're in no condition to mount a rescue.'

'We're the only ship in range, Captain.'

    Shit the bed.

  • Pluto aphelion is 49AU. A light year is 63241AU. 3 light years is 189723AU. Let's say Earth is at it's fullest distance the other way... 1AU 189724AU or 189674AU. Using the calculator I bought today, that's 99.97364% the distance. NY is 2464miles from LA. The difference is less than two thirds of a mile on that scale (I can run that in 10 minutes - and I'm fat). That's how fucking dumb this movie is. I've been using a rusty spike on my wrists. And they're not even at Pluto.

  • 100% should have been about just TNG characters and Q. So much potential with that idea. That Generations movie, and indeed the Chekov footage, is fucking painful. I know you know all of this. I just like rewatching these, and rewriting this, and generally inhabiting the moment while I cut my arms.

  • @john42t. Good idea, but written as bullshit. To be honest, I think this movie could be re made to be a great movie. That will never happen though. We're left with this horse shit, with one of the worst endings in film history... forever!

  • scooby doo omg

  • WATCH OUT CAT!

  • Well the uniform thing doesnt bother me because for example: When the U.S. Air Force changed their uniforms from the BDU's to the ABU's they set up a transition period where you were allowed to wear either uniform. And I am not talking about a week long period, I am talking about a couple years long perid. So you can see peope in the same military organization wearing old and new uniforms at the same time.

  • Hey, Ferris Bueller's best friend got a job. He's the new captain at the beginning.

  • I love Star Trek and this movie was good. This guy is way to hardcore for me. It's just a movie and another story to the whole idea of Star Trek. If they had everything down to every itty-bitty detail, the movie would be to complicated and "stupid" for an casual Star Trek fan like me. (Casual compared to this guy.) Key word K.I.S.S. = Keep It Simple Stupid.

  • @PaleRider612 I thought the one with the whales was much worse. This one at least had a good idea with a copy of the bad guy wanting to go to the heaven he's already in. I liked that, it was as inspired as one of the better episodes. The meeting of Kirk is a bit lame, but it pales in comparison to all the other mess many of the other movies made.

  • I liked generations, but this made my day xD

  • if sauron was on the klingon ship, then how come he didn't take like a shuttle and flew into the nexus, instead of trying to blow up an entire star.

  • Malcolm McDonald is my favorite actor

  • Malcolm McDowell is the only cool thing in this movie. er...... I mean "mcdonald"

  • I actually never minded the sparkling photo album because I figured that it had been compiled by somebody else and then given to Picard as a present

  • They should have pulled a star trek for this movie. They should have continued from a great episode. They could have continued with a Q story.

  • @ralphy329

That's what every Star Trek film should do, it strengthens the bond between the show and the film series. Wrath of Khan set the standard.

  • @Jimkaider i mean to say wrath of kahn but for some reason I forgot to add it

  • @ralphy329

Q could have had some fantastic movie ideas, but Generations was just nonsense.

  • @ralphy329 sorry i meant to say pull a star trek 2

  • @holtzy93 Whatever. This guy is hilarious.

  • I feel like you shouldn't have spent time on the photo album and that sort of thing. You make a lot of good points about the plot, and I feel like you should've focused on that.

  • Cameron Fry: Starship Captain!

  • Why do u sound like a Turd?

  • wow that was pretty bad. you are waaaaaaaay too critical about everything. Its like you are complaining about a piece of shit. And you didnt like taking the shit because it smelled different and looked weird. It's still the same. Oh and I have to say something about your voice. Get voice lessons because you talk like a 500 pound dude that sits in front of his computer all day looking at star trek and star wars stats and Specs. Other than that great review!

  • @PainfulOrpheus

Idiot. Plinkett is a 500 pound dude.

  • "Maybe someday, Geordi. Maybe someday I'll put his chip in my head and laugh at your jokes."

  • theres a thing comin at us, theres a THING comin at us

  • I also didn't understand why soren had to destroy a star to get to the ribbon.Picard asks data"why doesn't he just fly into it with a ship"?.....and data says"every ship that has approached the ribbon has been damaged or destroyed"...Well,isn't that how everyone got there in the first place?..

  • @gforce4all Indeed.

  • Yeah this movie sucked, but it had some good moments. Kirk giving his life to save the B ship and the idea of the Nexus is kinda cool. I like the review though. Keep em coming.

  • Rick Berman has 183 YouTube accounts.

  • @R8erNation636 He made 2 more.

  • @R8erNation636 fuck you Rick

  • I don't like things that are different either

  • @R8erNation636

No one is impressed with your stock replies, attention whore.

  • 14 people are impressed with my stock replies, Rick Berman!

  • @R8erNation636 shit birdfucker

  • Logging into a different account won't help, Rick Berman!!! I'M ON TO YOU!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @R8erNation636 Make that 190 haha!

  • Great analysis of the film. I agree with all your comments. The data chip especially bothered me. Remember, in the series, The chip went in his mouth.

  • To be honest it wasn't the worst movie ever made.

  • [stereo effect] WWWHAAATTT??

  • Even thought it had a couple minor flaws, the first 17 of the movie worked. 78 years later and beyond it sucked and blew at the same time.

  • Love the review (though I still enjoy the film). But note on the uniform (just in case no one mentioned it before), as a military member, it typically takes time to transition between the old and new uniforms. There is typically a few years where you'll see people wearing both. Keep up the good work!
