  • Thanks. Works great!

  • After months of walking with no problems in funny Sketchers walking shoes, I tried my 'running' shoes and ended up with shin splints. Will be using your stretches wenquianh thank you!

Also thanks to @Favre1013 for the suggestion to google Elliot Hulse "how to heal shin splints", I believe this may be applicable to me - great advice thank you.

  • this works, prevented shin splints for me.

  • Simple but do-able. Thanks.

  • @Abuhudayfa22 have you tried KT Tape? I'm gonna start using it soon.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Excellent video, 10/10. A big thanks all the way from Australia.

  • do you do it before or after running?

  • @tatoearashiga I do it after. It's most important to do it after so that the muscles don't cramp up.

  • thank you for the vid!!!

  • Thanks. Very helpful!

  • that stove is very old looking hahaha but THANKS SO MUCH ;D

  • @blogJM I'm really sorry to hear that! It must be quite frustrating =(. Do you think it may also be an ankle or knee problem since it hasn't recovered in so long?

  • @blogJM check out elliot hulses video on "how to heal shin splits" google anything he says that you dont understand

  • LOL Hi ronny

  • Awesome stove LOL

  • Nice, thanks! I really felt the heal walk, so there were definitely some muscles I wasn't conditioning. I do a fair amount of stretching and never had shin splints before, so I'll let you know in a few weeks if this old lady (54) can get back to running comfortably again!

  • @ldadds Nice. Good luck!

  • I've also found icing your shins after running helpful. I get shin splints now after an injury the end of last year because I went for awhile without running. Icing after I run reduces the inflammation until my body gets used to running again on a regular basis.

  • Thanks man, Also theres a technique to lay down with your legs stretched out and then you pull your toes towards you for 5 minutes and you should feel a burning sensation after 5 mins if done right

  • I love that you made this while waiting for your spagetti to cook. That's the classic spirit of Youtube ^_^

Thanks for the tips too, I'm sure it'll help!

  • Another static stretch is the standing toe achilles stretch.

  • guys please help how do i do when my legs got cramps or shin splints i dont because this is my first time happen to me!! i got this last 2 days ago while palying badminton. thanks and god bless <<benj pinoy

  • Thanks so much! Does anyone know how long shin splints take to heal?

  • @jerseygrl444 It has taken from a week to a month in my experience. Stetching, resting, and staying hydrated (the obvious things) will speed it up. Hope you heal up soon!

  • @jerseygrl444 I had mine for about 3 weeks, They are feeling pretty better right now. GOOD LUCK!

  • Thanksss so much i didnt even know what shin splints WERE until i got emmm sooo painful! THANKS

  • What'cha cooking? THANKS ANYWAYS!!

  • @goofywhiz Haha, it was spaghetti w/ tomato sauce. It was soggy tho by the time I ate it since I took too long to make the video ;).

  • thank you very much!

  • i dont even HAVE shin splints but that last stretch really felt good on my achilles!! thanks a lot :)

  • shin splints suck ass

  • Thank you so much - I had just posted a forum post on a runners world forum about this problem when I came across your video. I tried them for 15 min before and after a 10k today and the difference was absolutely incredible. I completed the run with just a little residual pain in the shins where before the pain had been unbearable.

    Thanks again!

  • Hey, thanks! This is great. I have been having a lot of problems with my shins and with plantar fasciitis = a major pain while running (and after). I have a morning and evening stretch routine & the third stretch you show has been really helpful! I added it to my routine and have noticed immediate improvement - it hits a very tricky spot that other stretches miss. Thanks so much!

  • Hey, great video. Thanks. im in high school now and having the same problem with shin splints.

  • i use to run 8 miles at one time and now I'm lucky if i can do 1 without my shins hurting. I'm trying to figure something out.

  • @vaper1986

Yeah shin splints can take a long time to heal after you get them. I would suggest taking a week or two off, getting new shoes if yours are worn out, getting proper hydration every day, and stretching. All the best!

  • I do this "Before" and "After" every run, also when i'm done running i'll ice my inner

shines as well. All these stretches work and so does the ice.

What I do before a run is, sit down on the ground, tuck in one leg and have the other leg out straight and pull my toes back towards my body, it stretches out your shin muscle and it is an effective stretch and i also walk on my toes while stretching my calves for about 20-30 steps.

And if you do this all the time it REALLY does Help avoiding!!

  • Okay just did these stretches, my poor shins feel remarkably better. Thanks.

  • shin splints suck

  • Holy crap, dude, thank you, these stretches have been the only relief from my shin splints.

  • Let's do the conga

  • Usually after a run is the best time to stretch. Stretching before a run is discouraged by a lot of experts (but I still do it sometimes b/c I'm used to it). But yeah,it's definitely good to stretch after your runs.

  • should we be doing this before or after a run?

  • pressed firmly. It gets you more leverage to stretch the achilles tendon.

  • For the last stretch is your hip pressed firmly against the wall or a few inches away? It's hard to tell.

  • lol, ronny...well done.
