  • If I ever decide to go sky diving im going to quote the whale

  • Comment removed

  • MAGRATHEA!

  • The whale really reminds me of Wheatley from Portal 2.

  • @EtherSword I thought it was voiced by Stephen Merchant first time I saw it. Actually voiced by Bill Bailey.

  • Comment removed

  • @EtherSword Exactly what i've thought

  • Wop.

  • i saw this movie after playing Little Big Planet and I was like O.o

  • not again

  • Bill Bailey! :D

  • "i wonder if it'll be friends with me?"

  • The bowl of petunias becomes incredibly more hilarious once you have read the sequels!

  • Oh no not again

  • I thought this was the same actor as Arthur (Martin Freeman I think?). Its actually Bill Bailey :D

  • Comment removed

  • Oh no, not again.

  • "Oh no, another time!"

  • whale = wheatly

  • Hello, ground!

  • big and flat and round.... wait what but the..... WHAT

  • wonder if it will be friends with me?

  • we are watching this in out class, its so funny xD

  • Oh no, not again...

  • @tanomano Yeah. It servs Agrajag right though. Always coming back to life and such.

  • this is the best part of the entire book. just kidding, the entire thing is amazing. Douglas Adams uses the perfect balance of intelligence cleverness and comedy in this book and if you havn't read it then get off youtube and read it. Now.

  • Like blackbeard246 said earlier: "This is existentialism in one minute and thirty seconds."

Never saw a better (and funnier) metaphor for life.

  • 42

  • Wheatly? Is that you?

  • @joethehero2 No, the narrator is Stephen Fry. Wheatley is Stephen Merchant.

  • @Wintermute01001 I meant the whale. I know who stephen fry is.

  • @joethehero2 The whale was voiced by Bill Bailey, according to Wikipedia.

  • RIP Agrajag..

  • Bill Bailey did the voice for the whale :)

  • @goldennugget01 maybe he was preoccupied with the fact that it was coming so fast to meet him that it didnt really make sense to him either

  • Poor Agrajag.

  • "hello ground"

  • 8 people forgot their towel

  • Dumpert

  • "So big and flat and round" ...wait, what? flat AND round?!?

  • @goldennugget01 So what? circles are flat and round. If he'd described it as flat and spherical, then it would have been contradictory.

  • who does not like this

  • @RachelHewett Nah, the Whale is voiced by Bill Bailey, while Wheatley is voiced by Stephen Merchant

  • funny

  • SOUNDS JUST LIKE wheatley from portal 2

  • @RACKEMDADDY Uh, no he doesn't. His voice is completely different, and he doesn't even have the same accent. He has a similar vocal pattern (pace, rhythm, inflections etc.), but that's common in certain areas of the UK, and was around long, long before Stephen Merchant played Wheatley in the game with the single most irritating fanbase in the world.

  • @missbluekoi it was explained in the books and the radio series, you should check them out!

  • In the books, it's a lot more graphic than that: most of the area gets covered in whale guts.

  • @1.24 you can hear the bowl´s end^^

  • Hello Ground!

  • the narrator sounded a bit like stephen fry to me

  • @megamabu It is Stephen Fry. He was a friend of Douglas Adams.

  • this happened to me once

  • that good watch?v=R02tbrZSO3I

  • This is existentialism in one minute and thirty seconds

  • 5 people fell of their chairs and said : HELLO GROUND!

  • It is important to note that, suddenly, and against all probably, 5 sperm whales had been called into existence several miles above the surface of an alien planet.

  • bill bailey FTW

  • Lol XD this is my FAVORITE part of the movie haha

  • the awnser to life, the univerce and every thing is...............

  • Oh my god, this scene is so ridiculously funny, I have no choice but to watch it over and over again :D

  • Hello Ground! =D

  • hot dam!

i always liked the book better, but this scene is pretty awesome

  • DONT PANIC!!!!

  • REINCARNATION ROCKS!

  • Agrajag was better when he was a whale, not a bowl of flowers!

  • aaaaahhhh woa whats happening?!? who am i? what am i?! whats my Purpose in life?! "well wale, your purpose in life was to smack into the earth."

  • The books are much better than the movie :)

  • @ParkourRudi

Wohoo! You have just won the galaxy's first annual "Captain Obvious"-contest! ;)

  • I am reading the book right now and it explains why the Bow of petunias said that and its pretty funny. I find it funnier than this.

  • this is halarios!!!!!!!!!

  • gotta love bill bailey

  • Favourite Scene in the movie.

Second Favourite: So Long and Thanks for All the Fish.

I REALLY WANT TO READ THE BOOK! BOOKS ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN MOVIES! Unless the movie was made first...

  • You should listen to the original radio broadcast. Most of it is on youtube.

  • at 1:24 you can hear a faint sound of the bowl crash :]

  • hahaha yeh, i just noticed that.

  • lmfao thats funny as shit

  • . .

     U

  • THATS IT ground i wonder if itle be friends with me HELLO GROUND *splat* LOL

  • Douglas Adams=Master of Infinite Improbability.

  • @Soder96 voiced by bill bill bailey. makes it all better

  • lol i remember this from the book.

  • The book whas helarious too!

  • Hello, ground! Psshh!

  • lol fry and bailey cant get much better then this

  • yes, it is bill bailey

  • That's my favourite part in the movie!

  • The book is much better then the movie

  • well i think that's because Douglas changed a lot of the sotory line in the movie, as it got closer to production (while he was still alive) the plot went through so many changes but what you see in the movie is pretty much all of Douglas's ideas. but i must agree, while the film is good i think the books are a better source, i think it would be good though i they decided to re-make the tv series to the word of the book.

  • Well every version is different the books where very different from the original radio show and the game was different from both of those and the tv show was also different but the movie was the most different I mean it added two subplots and they visited two planets that were only briefly mentioned in the radio show/books.

  • Hello ground!

  • it's arthurs fault that the bowl of petunias keeps dieing

  • I loved that part in the book!!! which one was it in again? Life, the universe, and everything i think (book 3)

  • @drdistracto707 it was from the first book the hitchikers guide to the galaxy

  • it needs a big wide sounding name like OW! gr-ow-....GROUND!

  • Is it Bill Bailey doing the voice of the whale?

  • yep

  • MOVIE SUCKS

book rocks, and movie is cool, but cant match the book, wich i will read for 42 times

    Oh,no,not again,Arthur killed him agin,lol

  • I wonder if it'll want to be friends with me... Hello Ground! splat

  • Utterly epic part of both the movie and the book!

    Comedy gold!

  • It's perfect

  • :O

    Stavromuller Beta, much?

  • 'oh no, not again"

    Kills me

  • What's funny is I imagine the voice of Marvin saying that. It'd be cool if they had made the sequels and he did the voice of the reincarnater.

  • Roflmao!

  • When I read the book ,I laughed so hard

  • Oh no, not again...

  • hahahahahahaha

    hello ground! *mushroom cloud*

  • This is the best part in the movie!

  • It's Bill Bailey :)

  • the whale sounds like eddy izzard

  • Best narration ever!

  • Hahahaha, that's such a cruel joke, gotta love the narration also.

  • Oh no not again.-qoute from a bowl of petunias

  • I'm pretty sure, i've never laughed harder in any movie.

  • i dont get it :(

  • man i love bill bailey it doesnt get much funnyer than him

  • great, i love bill bailey, but nothing beats the radio series for me :)

  • I wanted to upload the exact same segment. The big pumping thing in my chest does this jumping thing when the whale's eyes show this unexpected wonder and excitement for life. Thanks for all the mammal.

"Amazement is the salt of the earth."

    Escher

  • wow, "Hello ground!" Poof. XD It's been a long time since I've watched this movie. Ah, memories

  • The bowl of petunias was dropped from a window and crashed to the ground in a former life. There. i know more about the nature of the universe than any of you. :)

  • XD I love this bit! Go Bill Bailey!

  • I love Bill Bailey so much...

  • i love this XDD

  • i love that part xD the firts time i read it i had to reread it like four times xD it keep me laughing like 15 minutes xDDD

  • oh no not again!

  • At 1:24 it skips, so it sounds like narrator says "bunnies"!

  • Yes! Bill Bailey!

  • imagine doing this in real life...

    hey ground! hows you? *SMACK*

    thatd be good XD

the petunias bit: 'oh no, not again!'

it says summit like 'if we could understand why the petunias thought that *quiet smash in background* we would have an even greater understanding of our universe' hmm i wonder why it thought that... :P

  • it later explains why :) in the tertiary phase there is a creature called Agrajag, who is repeatedly reincarnated and always killed accidentally by arthur dent. Once he is reborn as a bowl of petunias, and as he plummets to his death and sees arthur on the spaceship watching him he therefore thinks "oh no, not again." :D

  • @FeatherDustah I love that part.

  • @FeatherDustah i figured this out without reading it ;) well... not his name. but yeah.

  • @FeatherDustah Let's see... Three incarnations correct? The giant creature, the petunias, and the guy in the club within book five.

  • @FeatherDustah so it means this funny scene happened in the book?

  • @FeatherDustah whats that from?

  • @FeatherDustah now we should know a lot more about the nature of the universe.

  • @FeatherDustah That's porbably the best comment ever! thx

  • @FeatherDustah yes but only we know that. It's called dramatic irony.

  • Well the bowl of petunias is a creature that keeps getting reencarnated and killed by arthur dent so naturally you would think that wouldn't you?

  • only bill bailey could do it

  • ahh, whoa, what's happening, who am i? why am i here? what is my purpose in life? what do i mean by, who am i?

  • haha i love this

  • The only thing going through the mind of the boll of petunias, was: Oh no, not again...

    Haha, so fawking funneh!

  • Bill Bailey! I love it, I love it!

  • My favourite scene of both the movie and the book...just brilliant!

  • This is a very LAWL part of the movie:P

I didn't know that a whale can speak.'

And then the part "HELLO GROUND".
