my mantis hates hunting she likes her crikets head ripped of and the guts fed to her =) quite pleasant

All mantises like to hunt, it's their instinct. They do get used to being hand fed, however... plus, they are such cute little insects and hand feeding them is so fun! However, she'll still catch prey if need be, that ability has not gone away due to hand feeding or anything.
